well we finally beat the canes , even though special teams almost gave it away with the bad snaps . ponders running really suprised me and smith had some good runs. but i'll give it to the canes they didn't fold after going down at the half , the fought back.great game.

Great win today. The offense actually had some rhythm.....Garvin's return was awesome to watch. GO NOLES!! :-)

At 7:00 pm ET, the time of reckoning will be here. Our Noles have struggled with Wake Forest for the Past two years. That ends here and now. As all of you know we havent had the prime season that last two years. But with new hope, a fresh beginning and a brand spankin new style stadium we have alot to be excited about. Tonight we play Wake Forest...Tonight we beat Wake Forest. I hope you all will join me as I take my seat in the student section..and we watch our seminoles fight fight fight fight to victory. I'm with you Dave. I feel really confident that the Noles can put the Deacs back where they belong this year. I really think we've got the best QBs and WRs that we've had since 99...we're looking good. Granted we've played 2 weak DivAA schools, but our team looks strong...and confident in themselves finally.

Weatherford got outplayed during the Spring and Fall when the QB battle was decised. He has been the QB for 4 years and been steady but no improvement. It was time for a change and Jimbo made the right decision

great scrimmage , lol. one more tune up before the deacons. and the start of the real season. i am hoping somehow we can beat the deacons without our suspended starters .i like ponders ability, he looked good in his first game last year against VT, for a first game.and D'VO adds another demension to our game . but weatherford being dropped to #3 on the depth chart ?

That was a brutal loss to Stanford. Had all the momentum and then blow in the 9th. Tony Delmonico probably shouldn't have been starting. It still didn't seem like he was 100 percent from taking that slide in the Supers.

which hopefully helps us in recruiting badger. come to FSU and play right from the get go and if u do good, you may keep ur position. the problem is the real bad players in the secondary were not affected (tony carter, garvin, and jamie robinson). one problem with our program is our coaches play the experience factor too much. that is one thing if the players are good, but if not, start the younger players that are good. did anybody see jamie robinson fall to his knees and wiff on that open field tackle? garvin isnt too bad but he's too small. tony carter couldn't cover me. he lines up 15 yards off the guy and runs backwards in man.

dont forget to watch EJ, bradham, carr, etc in the all star games this weekend. saturday at noon and 2pm (abc and nbc).

A whole lot of true freshmen are going to have to play early on next year. Suspensions are going to hurt for the next couple of games of next season

The thing is DC...nobody would've predicted us to win this one going in. I was HOPING for a win to shut the boys and girls in blue up...but I sure wasn't expecting one. For us to have hung with Kentucky for the whole game with a new O line and a new defensive backfield impressed me. We didn't have the option of bringing in fresh guys throughout the game either...and we were never out of the game. I was impressed. Plus...when you're going up against 63,000+ Kentucky fans that are acting like their team is in the friggin Super Bowl...and you still play with more heart than the team has shown all year...the Noles that played deserve major kudos.

Now I'm not sure why Jimbo didn't continue running Drew more often after we showed how vulnerable the UK defense was to the QB run...but I'm still content.

well i hope you had a good trip and had fun in cashville! yeah i figured it had to be over 90% UK fans. still don't understand why everybody is happy with such a bad offensive gameplan. we were more competitive than we thought we'd be, but we should have won the game!

Other than the crappy officiating, I wasn't upset with this loss at all. Of the 68,000 fans there...only 5,000 of us were Nole fans. Talk about a see of blue! Wow. UK fans were talking smack all weekend...so to lose by 7 (and crap officiating) wasn't bad at all.

It was expected that our D would give up a lot of points...I've said it for a month, "WE WILL HAVE TO SCORE MORE THAN 30 TO WIN THIS GAME." The loss is on the offense. We could gather 11 guys from this fan group who could go score 35-42 on UK. Their defense is horrible. Can I ask what the game plan was??? Seems to me like it was to have Drew beat them with his legs???? Yes that was the game plan, for Drew to run. Preston Parker had about 5 touches. Give me a break. I'm very sorry ATL-Fan, but how can you say Carr and **** are awesome? They are some of the biggest p.u.s.s.i.e.s. ive ever seen. They let little tiny DBs wrestle the ball away from them like **** (spelling intentional). I will say that the refs blew that offensive pass interference call as Carr didn't even touch the guy. The intentional grounding was a garbage call as well, but they got most of the rest of them right. Weatherford was absolutely not in the end zone on that play, and what did you mean by "he was blocked into the line"? If you are talking about the leaping penalty on that kick that was a good call too.

Bottom Line: Offense lost the game for us due to a HORRIBLE game plan and the inablity to score against a real bad defense. When Fisher called the QB draw on 3rd and 2 for the 2nd time in the first quarter I almost lost it. He got the first down the 2nd time but I REFUSED to cheer such a horrible horrible call. Then they run that play about 10 more times throughout the game. How is Drew Weatherford gonna have more rushes than Parker has touches?? Where was the bubble screens and end arounds to Parker? Fisher still has something to prove next year I'll tell ya that!

Anyways at least they were competitive. I thought they would get beat by about 30, so I wasn't too pissed.

It was clear that Drew needs to get passes to his receivers that are paced and placed correctly! You can't blame all of those incompletions on Carr, **** and Parker...those cats are awesome but can only catch what comes near them. I was really proud of the way the team stepped up to the challenges (officials, lack of depth and woodwon) they faced in this game! Go Noles!!

Kudos to the Officiating crew for a wonderfully called game...you couldn't even get the reviewed calls right. I think there's a difference between mediocrity and losing....if you want to look at a team who was a consistent loser look at Wisconsin before Barry Alvarez....we as FSU fans have been spoiled by the success of the progam in the 90's. I'm not old enough to remember Wisconsin's losing but I know it was bad, and as an FSU fan, having read a book about the struggles of the UW football program pre Alvarez FSU hasn't hit rock bottom yet, but its getting closer and closer

according to words directly from bobby's mouth he should be retiring this season (if not last). he always said if they start losing consistently that he would hang it up. 7 years of mediocrity isn't enough? i think he is looking at bear bryant dying weeks after retiring and that scares him (along with this stupid record)

Agreed, Bobby Bowden is well known for giving second and even third chances to kids. I love Bobby Bowden too he's a legend in the coaching profession. But I think people need to look in the mirrors when they say think like the Florida State Criminoles, you mean to tell me no one else has made any mistakes in their lives? The only reason its a big deal is because they're football players at a major university.

I'm sorry but this is embarassing...embarassing for the players involved...the Program...the School...and the Fans of FSU. I'm sure Bobby and Jimbo are using this a major recruiting tool !!! (that's extreme sarcazim) Up here in the Great White North, the only Sport making headlines this time of year is Hockey...with the NHL and the World Junior Tournament starting soon. But wait what's this...25 players to be suspended at FSU before the Bowl game that nobody up here has ever heard of, or cares about ??? Smack dab in the middle of the Headlines !!! Hockey taking a back seat for a few hours to this story ??? Completely embarrassing !!! Up here FSU is not known for what they do on the field...but what they do off the field...I hear it all the time...hey look its "No Shoes U" or the "FSU Criminoles". This incident does nothing to repair this image. I realize who cares what people in Canada think about FSU and the fact that FSU and Miami are looked at up here as "Hoodlum" University's !!! However have we stopped to think that maybe its just not people in Canada that think this !!!...and maybe this is also the feeling at home in our own backyards !!! How have the recruiting classes been lately ??? Someone explain to me how publicity like this helps in getting the best players to Tallahassee, and not Gainsville, or Athens, or Baton Rouge, or wherever !!! This is just another black eye, and the one part of the Bobby Bowden Legacy that completely bothers me. My God I Love Bobby Bowden, and Florida State University...but ZI'll come right out and say it....The demise of this program is not a product of parity, or the emergence of up and comming programs elsewhere....this demise is 100% manufactured "In House" !!! and this is a shinning example of why the Program is in decline, and why it may be years before it will recover....and GOD I hope I'm wrong about that !!!

badger, i wouldn't be so slow not to defend the players. this happens at every university and fsu is turning itself in so to speak. the tutor is at fault here. there isnt a football player in the country who wouldnt accept answers to a test

DC...as much as I welcome new players getting the chance to shine and show their talent...I don't want it to be at the bowl game after I've driven 700 miles. I'd prefer not to be the laughing stock of the UK fans (of which I'm sure there'll be plenty of there).

On the other hand...if the kids are guilty...I'd rather us lose with dignity than win with cheaters. :(

I personally think at least a few starters are involved...there is a lot of pressure put on student athletes...they have to keep up their grades and perform well in practice to get some playing time. I'm in no way justifying what they did, but I just wouldnt be surprised if at least a few starters are involved

first off, the number of players involved is a complete rumor at this point as is the number of games they will be suspended. Let's wait and see.

I have to disagree with Chief and say that I am hoping (and praying) that there are LOTS of starters involved in order to give some younger talent a chance. I'm hoping our entire back 7 on defense for sure. Suspending all those guys makes us a better team to say the least. Hopefully Weatherford was involved, but thats probably not the case. Carter, Garvin, Rolle, Watson, Nicholson, and Roger Williams at the least would be awesome! Haha go ahead and bash me, but those guys can sit and give somebody a chance to prove they are legit. Another big commit. 4* DE Juco Markus White committed. He has 4 years to play 3. Kid had something like 24.5 sacks last year alone and 90 something tackles.

i have to add that there are kids over 300 that can move and run just as fast as kids who are 260-280. One of them is not Bryant Mckinnie who is the worst LT in the NFL (and probably gets top 5 money!!!)

Trickett is really high on him. He's 6'5 280 I believe.

we got a new OL committ, some kid in tennessee that is a finalist for mr football lineman........however, tennessee high school football is one of the worst, so that isnt saying a whole lot. nonetheless im hoping the kid can play

size has minimal effect on the rating. there are guys who are 6'7" and 330 with 1 or 2 stars simply because of their size, but on the field they are terrible. at the end of the day chad is right though, the ratings dont mean jack till they step on the field

i agree with the weight factor. he wants guys that can run and are athletic, not fat **** that sit there and pass block like we have had in the past. i do remember my brother calling our O-line fat slobs that cant run prior to trickett's arrival. you are right on this one, im just pissed that we only have 1 committ. sorry bro

DC...Trickett does NOT like guys over 300 pounds. Would we take one with no zone blocking experience...probably so but only if he though he would do well in his system. When Trickett first got to FSU he made all of the Lineman go on a diet. He has no room for 300+ pounders on this team. He doesn't like them and they don't work for him. He does go after 5* prospects on the OL, and you also have to remember that Trickett is an ex-USMC so it's not like he is the easiest of guys to play for. You know as well as I do, some of these kids have big heads and think their **** don't stink. So why go play for a coach that is actually going to make you work for that starting job all 4 years?

Obviously they don't use rivals.com, but they sure as hell go after the biggest prospects in the country. If a kid has no buzz, how would they learn about him?

And yes, Trickett would sign any 5 star 6'5" 320 pound lineman regardless of experience. He just can't get them. He would be nuts to shy away because they had never zone blocked. Trickett is a good coach and can teach a kid the scheme

Breathe DC. I didn't say 5 stars doesn't matter. Overall though, the star ratings don't mean much. Are they a good initial evaluation tool for fans like us? Of course. Do you think Trickett and Jimbo log on to Scout or Rivals to see what the so called experts have them rated? Nope. They evaluate the talent themselves based on the scheme they want to run. Take Trickett for example with his zone blocking scheme...think he is going to go after a 5* with no Zone block experience that stands 6'3 and weighs 320? Nope he's not. He'd much rather take that 3 or 4 star guy that fits his system and style that stands 6'3 and weighs 280.

and regardless of stars, i was saying the need has not been addressed because we only have 1 committ

ive stated this before but the reason fsu cant get big time offensive lineman is because they go to schools with legit O-lines and running games. FSU has traditionally recruited pass blockers. The big time guys want to go to running teams.

I strongly disagree with 5 stars meaning nothing. Of course you have blue chips turn into busts (X Lee) and lower rated players every now and then turn out good, but for the most part you want high profile guys.

I have no love for a 3 star lineman because of the following:

My brother coached Zach Hillary at Winter Springs. Have you heard of him? He committed a few years back but has yet to become eligible. The kid is rated 3 stars and has never taken a snap on offense in his life. On top of that, he wasn't even good on the defensive line. He will never see a D-1 football field, but Andy Sexton said he would be a future first rounder at left tackle. Not to compare sexton to trickett, but if this guy is rated 3 stars, that pretty much tells you what you will get. A guy who has never taken a snap on offense should be 1 or 2 stars. So 3 stars tells me he blows. Look at all the 3 star guys we have gotten the last several years. any of them good??

It's easier to have patience with proven coaches like Fisher and Trickett rather than Jeffrey and company. Plus it's only been a year. Like I said, give them time to get their players in. We have lots to look forward to!!

The draft class does look good, we need to get some 5 stars on the O line though...practicing patience has been difficult waiting for the Noles turn it around.

Patience Grasshoppa. Remember stars don't mean much. Trickett for one doesn't give a rats **** what your rating is. He looks at your build and potential. You likely hardly ever see 5 star guys on the OL from Trickett. He finds the diamonds in the rough.

Best class ever? Pretty sure we have had several more 5 stars in one class. Sure we have a bunch of 4 stars, but I don't think it can be argued as our best class ever. Especially considering our biggest need has not even been addressed at all. The exciting thing, however, is that we NEVER EVER sign this many people so early. We go into January with like 3 committs and then swoop in for a surge at the end. Kudos for the early progress!

TDs and PPG are completely irrellevant. Have you compared the schedules? 2006 schedule was absolute cake and 2007 schedule was absolute murder. Not to mention that TDs and PPG are very, very generic stats. I'm talking about watching the 2 offenses and comparing them. Also, all these players are JB's players. Give them time

Next year will be a difference. Maybe not much but it will be. Consider that Jimbo and Trickett still need to bring in their types of players. Look at the commitment list...it's possibly our best class ever! Still some surprises yet to come.

I think Jimbo did a great job with the offense if you compare the strides they made to years past. The O was 500% better than the 2 previous seasons. Now the problem is the defense. Give Trickett and Fisher another year or 2 and our offense will be great

I'm not sure I like the move though...what if Bobby decides to coach for another 5 years or more...is Jimbo going to sit around and wait, probably not. Besides he's never been a head coach and honestly didn't do too great of a job with the offense this year, but to his credit it needs a lot of work...

yes that is great news rimel. i will be sleeping better knowing (for the most part) that he will not depart for an HC position. However, coaches ALWAYS have the opportunity to leave, just like FSU still has every right to interview for the HC position and not give it to Jimbo. Contracts are somewhat pointless these days, cuz there is always an out and no gurantees

Bobby Bowden accepted on behalf of the Noles....their 26th straight Bowl Invitation...and Invite to the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl....against Coach Rich Brooks and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The game goes at 4pm December 31st at LP Field in Nashville Tennessee.

So we'll assume now that the Buckeyes are #1 again...so then who the hell is #2 ??? My Gut instinct tells me that LSU is going to face the Buckeyes in New Orleans. However I really think it should be Oklahoma.

As for Spurrier...say what you will about him. I think he's a great coach !!! I was glad the day he left UF. I hated him as much as anyone else, but you can't knock the job he did at UF. He'll never be the coach at FSU, my whole point there is that a/ We want the best possible candidate in the next HC...he has huge shoes to fill. b/ I was more intrigued I think in how Spurrier at FSU would affect UF and the Gator Nation than what that would do for us. Still reading in the Daily's that Kentucky in the Music City Bowl is where we are heading for the Bowl game. The .Com sources still are unanimous in their call for the Car Care Bowl against UConn. I don't know about you but either matchup works for me and should be a good game.

We have a greater chance of making a BCS game than there is of Mark Richt coming back to Tallahassee. Everything I'm hearing and reading is telling me that the HC job will be Jimbo's when Bobby does leave. I also hear thru the grapevine that Bobby's new deal (current contract expires in January) will be his last at FSU. That suggests that Bobby and P.K. have already discussed his retirement. I'm not saying that its happening soon...but the topic has been brought up. Either way Bobby is here as long as he wants to be...and Jimbo is being groomed as the replacement...and that is either in...or about to go in his new contract. Both Bobby and P.K. are trying to get the entire coaching staff locked up long-term.

Sorry Boys if I don't get too excited about the recruiting wars. I know the whole coaching staff is on the road right now trying to land commits...but until they sign the dotted line...I'm not going to get too excited about it yet. Especially considering one of the weakest areas and greatest needs...the O-Line...presently has just a single commit. I'll follow it but with a grain of salt until signing day in February.

The Big East handed out their Bowl Bids today...and UConn accepted the Big East bid to the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte. The other Big East team in the running for that Bowl...Cincinnati is going to the PapaJohn's Bowl. It is widely rumoured that it will be FSU meeting UConn in the Care Care Bowl. The other possibility is the Music City Bowl in Nashville against an SEC team...perhaps Kentucky. However I would be stunned if the Music City Bowl didn't take Wake Forest to play either Kentucky or Alabama. I expect that FSU will accept the Car Care Bowl bid this weekend.

I certainly agree with you on the back 7 DC...but why stop there...the whole damm Defense has been bad. Started the 1st game of the year against Clemson. We couldn't tackle then...and we can't tackle now. Did anyone in the front 4 even touch Harvin on Saturday Night ??? Did any of them even record a tackle ??? Road pilons would have been more effective. Every time I looked it was a DB making the tackle on Garvin.

Anyways.....for the record...the early predictions now have FSU in the Meineke Car Care Bowl against the Cincinnati Bearcats. There is still some talk about the Music City Bowl in Nashville....but they will likely want Wake Forest instead (Better ticket sales). Maryland will make the trip to Boise. There is still a chance at a return to the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco...but seeing that we were there last year....they will likely take Georgia Tech instead. So its the either the Car Care Bowl or the Music City Bowl....with my money on the Car Care Bowl against the Big East.

Why did we even bother to board the buses for Gainesville ??? I mean if we really thought we had no chance to win...if we really thought we had no way of containing Tim Tebow...that what was the point of going thru the motions ???? Because that all that was....just going thru the motions !!!! Here's what I'm I'm thinking Badger....If you look at the the "Gaytors 3 losses this year...they just sucked against Auburn...but both LSU, and especially Georgia got some heat on Tebow and attacked UF's Offense, before they were able to get on track. LSU had 2 sacks and Georgia put Tebow on his back 6 times !!! I think sitting back and trying to employ a cover scheme against the spread just plays into their Offensive gameplan !!! It opens up the run game, for Tebow, Harvin and Moore...and that in turn gives more space for Harvin, Caldwell and Murphy to beat us in the air. I think if Mickey sits back and trys to play Defense then this gets ugly...and in a hurry. Georgia sold out and attacked the "Gaytors" each and every play. They put it on their front 4 and backers to get some heat and their Corners and Safeties to make plays. More importantly...the refused to let Tebow beat them. It was an awesome defensive gameplan cooked up by Mark Richt and Willie Martinez. I'm convinced we need to ATTACK...sit back and we're Gator Bait !!!

I agree Tebow is obviously the main cog in their offense. But I think it would be foolish to load the box with UF's spread offense, if you load the box on the Gators then your going to be in for a long day with their recievers one on one against our corners...not good. I do agree though they should have a spy on Tebow.

The general consensus is still that the Noles will be heading to Nashville for the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, with the Mississippi State Bulldogs of the SEC. However there is still some talk about a return visit to San Francisco for the Emerald Bowl and a meeting with Oregon State. Its more likely that Georgia Tech will get the ACC berth though. I also saw today for the first time the Meineke Car care Bowl in Charlotte mentioned...with the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers being the competition. That would leave Wake and Alabama in the Music City Bowl...a better matchup for that Bowl game. Still the smart money still says Nashville VS Miss.St.

Ya the "Gaytors" Offense revolves around Tebow. He's the key...yes they have other weapons like Harvin...but he ain't doin anything if Tebow can't get the ball to him !!!
