today is thanksgiving and we all should be greatful for the things we have! I'll be even more thankful if the Broncos find a way to win today against the New York Giants!!!

I hate the Chargers. That's all I will say until after Thursday.

Ya know, I was kinda mad about the no-call when Simms got tackled by his helmet. I was like "I thought they couldn't touch the QB's helmet". But then I realized... He's no QB, we just ran a crap ton of trick plays with the worst running back in the league.

It's obvious that coach McD is feeling some pressure with the losses mounting up, witness the onside kick that none of the Broncos were ready for? Please coach put in the Rookie Q.B. and let Orton heal up for the next games!!! Simms showed he can't play anymore and Orton is still hobbling around on one leg! So, let Brandstater play...

Just thinking outloud here, but I'd rather have 80% Orton than 100% Simms.

That's good to hear about Moreno. But, I am worried about Orton. I'm praying we have him back Sunday, he's questionable right now, hopefully he recovers quick but you never know with ankle sprains.

I think Ty Law was a BAD signing, he just seems out of place I liked the young guys we HAD out there before. Really think that is why we are getting picked apart in the passing game.... also I think that the D line needs a big NT that can stuff the run, without that you can NOT have an elite 3-4.

Not time to panic yet, BUT a couple of MUST win games with SD coming to town sunday and the Giants on Thanksgiving.

One other note, something good at least, Moreno looked GREAT Sunday, I think we have a good one with this kid. Makes great cuts and sees the field VERY well.

i didn't see the second half,but Orton was playing pretty good until he got hurt! The secondary suddenly looks very old and unable to keep up with faster receivers!! The Defense did not pressure the Q.B. at all and special teams suck still...

1. Thank God McDaniels FINALLY let Orton throw the damn ball. And just our luck he gets hurt. Bull ****.

2. How the heck is Simms still in the NFL. Right after this game i would cut his ass. 3-13, 13 yards and an INT. Orton and Simms were competing at the beginning of the season? Very hard to believe.

3. Anyone who actually saw the game, please tell me what's going on with our defense. 100 yards for Betts, seriously? And has Champ Bailey lost a step? Please fill me in on our defense.

What I saw in that Monday Night game is what i've been saying all along and Steve Young finally said it on National T.V. The Broncos NEVER throw it down the field. They even showed a stat during the game where Ortons completions were. He was 0/0 down field. When I followed the first game and the game against the Ravens on NFL.com and it kept saying Orton 3 yard pass completion or Orton incomplete short left, its like just throw the **** ball. Is it a confidence issue? Or did Josh just not bring in the right QB, because believe me, if he's not gonna throw it down field, EVERY team will catch on to us. No more run, run, pass offense anymore. Shake things up, throw down field, pass in your own territory for once, and dont throw screens every play. not that hard.

if anyone feels bad about the past two games... just go watch some Bears highlights... that should make you feel better until we get a much needed win agianst the Skins.

If any of you are season ticket holders, and you sold your tickets to a Steelers fan, you should be ashamed. I have never been so embarassed as I was Monday night, there was more black and yellow in that stadium than Blue and Orange. If your gonna do that crap then sell your tickets to some real Broncos fans because your not cutting it.

this defense is not as good as we thought or maybe the Steelers are just that good? A little of both i suspect, but don't give up just yet guys, most Defenses around the NFL are not Baltimore's or the Steelers!!!

Also the Steelers found a way to stop the blitz, HOLD on every single play, on one Steeler TD DJ was in a headlock while the Center came over and laid a hit into his back.... wonder how much the Steelers paid for that win?

I would never argue with a decision that Mike (Motha F******) Nolan made, but I would rush only 4 for most of tonight because Big Ben refuses to throw the ball away, so Dumervil will be on him all night by himself. Put our AARP secondary to work tonight.

Law is 35, I was worried at first about his speed, but with Dawkins, Bailey, Hill, and Goodman, he only has to cover a minute amount of the field.

okay, but does anyone know why we cut Brett Kern? Plus, if throwing it long worked for us before, why would we not throw it longer, or at least more often against BALTIMORE. I didn't get to watch the game but i'm just gonna take a wild guess that McDaniel's calls plays with the crowd. At home he's been taking more chances, but this week in Baltimore, he runs it more and just calls little dump plays.

This loss is completely on the offensive lines shoulders. I used to play O-Line and I know how no one should blame them, but they weren't picking up blitzes, and Orton got jackup all game from it.

We were not gonna go 16-0 and 6-1 is alot better than 0-7! So, we control our own destiny and that's what we want! Let's worry when we lose more than one game in a row...

Bottom line is that on Sunday you pulled for the Broncos and that is what matters.

You see part of the reason that the Pats have been so good in the past is that they don't fall in love with thier players. I have see all too many times teams draft only for need. If you see a player out there that can become a superstar don't pass on the guy.

Truth is that we had a few above average RB's... but the idea of having the best RB around, imagine if the vikings (who had a solid RB at the time) passed on Peterson....

All I am saying is that the old way of doing things was not working, so why is everyone doubting that a new way may be better?

We got the "ULTIMATE INSIDER" when it comes to the Patriots! Josh McDaniels knows this team inside out, he knows their strenghtsand weaknesses like no other person on earth. He knows how to attack New England and how to mitigate their strenghts. I like our chances on Sunday!!!

If Denver can get through the next 4 with a 2-2 record, we have to be considered a contender. I have a good feeling about Sunday agianst NE. It's supposed to snow, I wonder how good Knowshon is with his snow treads on? He is from New Jersey.

Couple of notes for the board here...
THis team has ALWAYS had problems beating BAD teams, see Oakland last year, Det 2 years ago, and so on. SO I'll take those "easy" wins (Cincy is 3-1 so I dunno that they are all bad)

This defense is NASTY, goalline stop for the win, 2 TD's in 4 games, ZERO passing TD's allowed. NASTY! I LOVE NOLAN'S game plan, BLITZ, BLITZ BLITZ, play the DB's tight and make plays.

Finally, anyone notice Marshall running to McDaniels for the hug after the big TD, all signs are pointing to Marshall's fresh start coming in Denver. We can only hope

more Brandon Marshall news, this time the word from espn.com is that the team and Marshall are talking long term deal. If it does happen I hope he can shut up and play like he has the past 2 years.

As for the QB situation, don't make too much of a preseason game. Orton was a solid QB in Chicago with NOTHING around him. Remember that even in the preseason he has been without his #1 RB and his #1 WR, that would hurt ANY QB. Time to give the QB and the coach a shot.

Cut day was yesterday. Some surprises, to me at least, like cutting Tim Crowder. But anyway, it'll be interesting to see how many of those guys sign with our Houston Texans farm system.

I don't get the games here in Ohio, so I've just seen the game against the Bears. And I'm hoping you guys are right in saying that we'll be fine this year. I mean, some people at ESPN have us finishing behind Oakland! Also, I think I'd like to see Brandstater start over Orton or Simms. I don't like Orton cause he's just not bold enough, he looks like he has no athletic ability, and just to throw another non-related fact, he has THE most boring interviews ever. As for Simms, I'm not that interested in watching him break his arm or leg. But I'm just really anxious to see what Tom and Knowshon can do. And I also have a feeling that Josh wants Eddie to be even MORE involved with the offense, so that's a plus.

Brandstater looked like a real leader out there. A huge QB, with a strong arm and Mobility? Sounds like Joe Flacco to me. Throw him in there with a dumbdowned playbook and let him grow. He may be something.

Not that I want to invest too much into a pre season game, but just imagine how quickly fans will shift on McDaniels if he found the next Tom Brady in a late round pick....

Time for the real games to start, I'm not thinking Super Bowl, but I do think this team will sneak up on people... remember the team that looked bad in the preseason had no Moreno or Marshall, also Dawkins had limited time out there. I'm gonna say 8 to 9 wins

Eddie Royal on ESPN first take this morning sounding very excited about he upcoming season and saying he expects to play alongside B. Marshall for along time...

Denver Broncos are 50-1 to win the SuperBowl, they are 5-1 to win the AFC West...

latest on Marshall... He has until the 27th to report to camp, and from what he is saying it looks like he will be there. If he can keep his nose clean I expect to see him with a new contract at the end of the year.

this year's draft class is getting the same reputation as last year's, which is that they are a great group of guys, not just on the field but off as well. I think this story of Moreno calling DW's mother to ask her about the number is kind of showing it to be true.

the thing is that you just don't see numbers retired in football... I mean only QB's and kickers wear 1-9, plus they can go up to 19, so keeping 7 away from people isn't too hard. But even then I don't think that number is retired officially. Players are just put into the ring and that is about it. Not like the NBA, MLB or even NHL where players have so many options to choose from.

Thing is that if you look at the direction this team is going they look like a younger version of New England. From the no name QB, great WR's, great RB, and on D, Amazing DB's with above average LB's... the Pats also led the league in draft day trades.

What I am getting at here is that this team is modeling themselves after the best team in the NFL over the past 10 years. I really think that by the end of this season the doubters will start to dry up.

just to add to the number thing, there are currently 25 guys on the roster that have to wear a number in the 20's 30's and 40's, and that is before the non roster folks that come to camp as well... they try to keep people from wearing some numbers but if you just retire a bunch it makes things hard.

I don't know about that, it is hard to retire a number in football... see with the 20-40 numbers you have to cover every FB, RB, SS, FS and CB on the team... that is quite a few dudes.

Now on to the LB thing... dude Andre Davis led the Browns in stops last year, sure they weren't a great team but he was a bright spot on that D. As for Boss, he was good when healthy, and the family thing I don't get sure Champ missed some games last year, but that guy plays through a lot.

Dumervil willl be a great blitzing OLB and Moss was too small to play DE so he should be much better in the new position.

Elvis, I can deal with, Jarvis, idk, but Andre Davis I'm very doubtful about and Boss Bailey scares me to death, him and his brother. I guess getting an injury every week runs in the family.

O, and one piece I'd like to share with you guys if you haven't noticed, Harana-Daze Jones will be taking the number 29, the first player to do so since Damien Nash passed away. In my opinion, I think the Broncos should've retired this number, along with 27 (for Darrent and Steve Atwater), along with TD's #30, a long time ago. Your guys' thoughts............

Horrible draft. They pass up on Everette Brown, twice if i recall, and pass up tight ends like Jared Cook to get a no name. Josh McDaniels better watch his ass. He's not gonna get anywhere with the **** he's pulling. And Knowshon Moreno?! Great player, but why they **** do you pick up 3 running backs while you have 6 other running backs and then draft one with your first pick when you're defensively last in the whole NFL. with the 12th. pick the Broncos picked Knowshon Moreno, running back out of Georgia. 5-11, 217 and with the 18th. pick they selected Tennessee DE Robert Ayers, 6-3, 272 lbs.

I'm hoping for Aaron Maybin at 12 (originally wanted Tyson Jackson, but somehow the Chiefs changed there mind over the last day). And at number 18 i'd like Everette Brown.

I hear the Q.B. the Broncos like is Rhett Bomar, 6-2, 225, Sam Houston State in the third or later rounds...

I say the Broncos will pick one of these three guys if available with the 12th. pick(B.J. Raji, Rey Maualuga & Brian Orakpo!) With the 18th. pick the Patriots West will pick James Laurinaitis, Tyson Jackson or Brian Cushing again if available...

Ray Maualuga from USC. He will probibly be there at 12 and 18 so take him with either one. He could be the force we lost with Al Wilson. Also take Moore out of Mizzou to opposite Dawkins. It could be like Laron Landry and Sean Taylor for the Skins

Orton has proven himself as a solid QB playing injured and on an awful offensive team. I really think he has all the tools to make McDaniels come out of this smelling like roses.

what has Cutler done.. I mean really? This team may have been #2 in the NFL in yards, but they were #17 in scoring... Truth be told had the game been called right Jay could have fumbled away victory against SD the first time we met.

Royal ,i don't want to trade Jay Cutler for anybody including picks, if you pay close attention to my posts/comments around the site you will see that in the beginning I blamed McHoodie for this situation! It has become clear that Jay does not have a wise counselor by his side, so his immaturity has showed by furthering to inflame this mess! When you have "TWO" grown men acting like high school girls then you wont have a clear winner or loser, both sides lose...

Cutler has proved nothing. As a QB you need to be a strong leader, Jay may NEVER get to that point. The kid has talent, but so does Kyle Boller, Ryan leaf and Jeff George.

If Jay wants to keep crying then let him go. I would rather have a guy that has all the tools to do well and a pick vs. a cry baby QB that will leave with nothing in return once his contract is up.

with this year's draft class, there really isn't a pick worth trading a franchise QB, I don't think Stafford is that good, and he is really the only 1st round QB out there.

The team has made it clear that they aren't willing to trade Jay for a pick, so happy or not #6 will be under center for the Broncos this season.

The Broncos fired the Goodmans today, Jim Goodman was basically the G.M. and was in charge of the last three drafts. Jeff Goodman is Jim's son and was assistant G.M. the only top level front office manager left over is Brian Xanders who will be elevated to the G.M. role. I guess McDaniels is putting his own stamp on the front office too!

I heard "Joe Collier" the original 3-4 Defensive coordinator of the Orange Crush say that, " the Broncos need to commit to the 3-4 scheme and stick with it no matter what. They need to go out and get a Huge "Nose Tackle" that can move and shed blockers, and a couple of Defensive Ends that can RUSH the passer. They may already have the Linebackers for the Scheme...

Well, the G-men lost so it looks like we'll get a clue sooner rather than later.


Draft-wise, i read Rey Muauluga's scouting report on nfldraftcountdown.com, and some of his weaknesses include inconsistency, being too aggressive, struggles to match up in coverage, doesn't take the right angles... I mean, this is exactly what is already wrong with our defense. I know he's a great player and all, but I'm not willing to risk having another bad defense, especially if we're not gonna hire a defensive coach.

We all have to wait and see if the Giants advance today, until then the Broncos will not announce anything...

I wish it would be Steve Spagnuolo, but it looks like McDaniels is leading the pack and Spagnuolo isn't in the running anymore. I woulda like to see, in addition to having Spagnuolo running the defense, Jeremy Bates have total control of the offense, since the players seem to get along with him so well.

hey guys, I know you all love the Broncos as much as i do too, but don't pretend to know what's going on here in Denver. I predicted that we needed a change a long time ago and it finally happened, I don't have esp or anything ,but I'm closer to the action and to the pulse of the Broncos... so don't "HATE" on me when I tell you guys what i feel is best for this team.

Yeah it is crazy how much money people have... My dad is a pilot for a company called NetJets, they basically fly the rich and famous. Some of the planes cost around $6 million to buy in, $400,000 a month and $5,000 and hour to fly.
If that is the money people like Pat Bowlen have to spend on transportation, I'm thinking $20 million over 4 or 5 years isn't as big a deal as you may think.

BTW, it seemed like Bowlen was lying out of his face today, saying the main reason Mike was fired was because he was here so long and needed a change, regardless of how this season played out. Basically what I got out of that was if Denver won the Super Bowl, Mike still wouldn't have a job because, "we needed a change". And then you hear Mike and he tells you the reason Pat should have fired him, the fact that we are .500 the last 3 seasons. Lying from the owner but honesty from the guy that lost his job? Am I on the right track with this or no?

As for the hire I don't see Cowher as a fit, he is another shanahan. I really felt he was always an overrated head coach. Someone that can get a team to 9-7... that just doesn't cut it in Denver.

We need a long term fix... someone young, someone that can be here for the next 10+ years.

ease up Royal... truth is that over the past 3 years Shanahan is a .500 coach (24-24)... Since Elway left (10 years ago) the Broncos have ONE division title, and ONE playoff victory... The Raiders have won more playoff games!!!!

Tell me how this is a downgrade? You don't even know who the next coach is. From what I am hearing this is THE best job in the NFL and Bowlen will get whomever he wants to fill it. Trust me he will not pick someone that won't work well with Cutler, or make this team better.

I think if we can't get Cowher, we go for Steve Spagnuolo so that way he has control of the defense, and the Broncos have the same guys controlling the offense, mainly Jeremy Bates, thank God for him.

I do most definitely agree that the players seemed like they weren't motivated enough, I could tell throughout the season. BUT, the things I'm more worried about is A) the chemistry- Jay Cutler even said it was the wrong move point blank. B) our draft picks- this could go either way because Mike has been amazing at drafting offense, but hasn't been so hot on defense. Finally C) West Coast Offense- Jay has a perfect fit with this offense and wouldn't be as good with any other. What happens if we have to change the system. This seems like a downgrade guys. I don't think this was mostly Shanahan's fault. It's Bowlen's for giving him too much power. If there was someone in place to handle the defensive side, Mike would still have a job. This is an atrocity.

I think time will tell on this one... but you really can't blame anyone but Shanahan for this move. The team came out flat when the games mattered the most. You HAVE to see that as a lack of motivation, which comes from the Head Coach.

Im not "happy" guys, but I do believe it's the best course of action for a franchise that has lost its way, specially on the defensive side of the ball...

Well, it was a disapointing way to end the season. I'll be starting my offseason ramblings in the next week or so. My predictions were pretty accurate last year. Taylor Mays FTW.

hey guys, seeing as though I won't be able to sleep tonite after this completely devistating loss, I've come back to see how this group is doing. And yea, I agree, the reason I'm not on hear that often is cause all the changes.

As for the coaching situation, I cannot tolerate one more season like this. If this happens next year, I think it's safe to say I would say goodbye to Mike, sadly. The biggest thing we need to work on in the draft and in free agency is finally getting a big name. I know we've strayed away from that, but the Broncos have showed me that they have no motivation in winning this year. The most heard words I heard after losses were, "we have to move on" and "there's nothing we can do". You have no idea how much that frustrates me. We need to win next year, we need to get big names, in free agency, and we need another solid draft. Next year is too far away guys.

But for the record, though it may have seemed at the time like I was crazy, Jay was only about 100 yards away from the actual record, 554.

Yea, I was happy too, until I found out that Eddie and Jay were on my bench for fantasy..... damn.

On another note, as I was walking to the Browns game, I was somewhat shocked to see a fight between 2 Browns fans and a completely different incident where another 2 were getting arrested. Yet again after the game, I saw another dozen fights between Browns fans. None of the fights consisted of Broncos fans (true story). After this experience I found myself saying after the game, "Thank God I'm not a Browns fan. This way I don't have to act like a d.i.c.k." I feel sorry, if this happens after every Browns loss, to the little Browns fans who will have to grow up with this. Hopefully they won't inherit this idiotic trait of picking a fight with a fan of the SAME TEAM (but really there should be no fighting at all, come on, now).

Looks like we may have a QB again... that's the good news, but I'm thinking this D is pretty much going to be awful all year.

Made Brady Quinn look AMAZING, but since Jay looked better in the end I'm happy.

DJ Williams has been lost for 4 weeks due to a hyperextended knee, Pittman and Hall have been placed on I.R.

The "bye" week comes at a perfect time for a team that seems to have lost its drive/hunger. the Defense is a lost cause and the Offense is focusing too much on Marshall, they have to run the ball and spread out the passes to many other receivers.

Champ's out 4-6 weeks with a muscle pull, and brother Boss is gone for the season with a knee injury.

I guess the Freedom of Speech Amendment really isn't free for the NFL.

The Chiefs and Chargers had no problem returning kickoffs for big gains on the Broncos, I'm not disputing that Prater has a strong leg,but the rest of the special teams need to be playmakers...

hard to get a turnover when Prater is kicking everything out of the endzone.... Gruden even said after the game that working on kick returns before a game w Denver was pointless b/c Prater's leg is just too strong to even think you are going to return anything.

The special teams are nothing "special", we need a few points from them too. A return for a TD would be nice, how about a couple of strips for turnovers from the other teams?

Royale WCheese don't be negative about good feedback from the local media, I know Jim Armstrong and he's no homer. He's exactly the opposite of a homer, he's a very good writer that will and does criticize the Broncos when they deserve it. i hear what your saying and we'll reserve judgement on the season 'till further into it.

Well, doesn't he work for the DENVER Post. I know he's a pro writer and blah blah, but still. Bill Williamson is a great writer for ESPN I read his articles all the time. But then I found that he used to work for the Denver Post, I stopped reading because, honestly, I don't want a hint of homerness from ESPN articles. Those articles are supposed to be written by people all over. I'd rather have someone from Chicago or somewhere to write about Denver, you're more likely to get more of a national perspective on things. That's just my take.

i don't know what happened with Abdullah, I didn't see him play that much and when i did see him he was always out of position wether in pass coverage or run support!

Sad news, Tom Nalen was placed on Injured reserved which means he has probably played his last game in the NFL. Also, The Broncos signed Vernon Fox and released Hamza Abdullah. I'm not quite sure what to think of the release, I don't get a chance to watch the Broncos since I live in Ohio without Direct TV, was he a problem in the secondary? I mostly saw Marquan Manuel getting burned all the time. Am I wrong?

Good point guys. Loveland, i also recognized that since we do play the Saints this week. Reggie Bush is just a WR in the back field. He's not at all a running back, in fact a wide receiver WOULD be a better HB than Reggie Bush. And that is a knock on him. You shouldn't be a starting running back if you can't run the ball.

One thing about Bronco teams of the past is that they always play at the level of their competition, whether good or bad teams. let's hope they leave that habit behind them and play offense like they have for the last two weeks and their defense can step up and slow down a good NO offense.

What San Diego showed is, though, is something I am afraid of for the coming week. We are week against the screen pass to a Runningback with above average agility...I think NO has a runningback who plays the screen well and has a LITTLE agility..I just can't remember his name....If we can take away the screen passing game I'm confident we won't see a shootout like last week. We'll still see NO score 17-21 points this week, but we will also see another great game for Cutler. what I'm waiting to see out of our WR's and what NO proved week against is I want to see an absolute bomb thrown to Marshall or Royal for like 70 yards...like the one Cutler threw to Walker against the Cardinals 2 years ago...I'll be looking for it

Yeah Royal will fit in nicely. Although DeSean hasn't been just sitting there doin nothing for the eagles--he's just an idiot. I think our offense will consistently put up points this year I can't wait to see them against a crappy NO Defense....

Wow, even moe news from the NFL, Ahley Lelie and the Raiders agree on a one year deal. We allknow what 2 games he's looking forward to this season. Also, ESPN report that the Broncos are seeking to trade Foxy. My take, as much as I love this guy as a person and as driven as he is, from what I've seen from the preseason is that it is a good move to move him so we can make room for Jack Williams, who in my opinion had a better training camp and preseason than Dominique. I really like Foxworth, and if he does get traded, I hope it's not to the Patriots, Chargers, Cheifs, or Chargers.

Another thing I would like to say is that I wish someone other than Bill Williamson on ESPN would do a story on the Broncos. Very sad news today that I have just found out. John Lynch has signed with the Patriots. My feeling is that I'm pissed and that this is some horse ****. Hey Schwartz. Long time no talk. Ok, about the Marshall suspension, I agree BS, we shouldn't have any problem with Oakland against their secondary since De'An Jello Legs Hall is overrated. But if for some reason it doesn't work, i think we can easily switch to our run game.

BUT I am soooooo pissed that he has to miss the game against the Chargers. That game is so huge, they only shoulda made the suspension 2 games. This game is so important, and Brandon won't be able to participate in it.

Speaking of Oakland, just saw yesterday that Javon Walker tried to retire this week but was talked out of it, this may be funny to watch. I am SOOOO Happy he isn't a bronco anymore, and I couldn't have picked a better place for that tool to play...well maybe SD

i think we have a good mix of young and old on the "D" Line, so Robertson wont have to play every down and our young players can prove they deserve playing time.

That's probably my biggest concern reguarding one player. For what Robertson is getting paid and for how injury prone he can become, the Broncos really don't need this guy becoming a bust for them.

Another positive is newly aquired DT Robertson says, " My knees are perfectly healthy and I'm gonna prove alot of nay sayers wrong."

Training camp is showing some positives for the Broncos, seems the speed of the "Defense" is way faster than last year's unit. That's one of the reasons John Lynch decided to leave, cause the team told him, " He would only play during obvious running plays".

Yeah, Loveland. Powell hurts the most, cause we needed his run stopping, I hope we go out and sign another Run Stopping DT, I don't know if Thomas is ready to at it fulltime. Sheppard was a long shot to crack the starting lineup...

I'm kinda upset about Powell--his expertise in college was stopping the run. Umm that was a problem for us last year...RIGHT? Haha but Yeah so do you think we look for another DT somewhere or do we hope Thomas has gained that much experience and Robertson will stay healthy?

Well so far the first 2 days of training camp have sidelined two Broncos for the year. Carlton Powell and Edell Sheppard.

Yea, it kinda makes my poll a lot more obvious. Rod Smith isn't just one of the greatest athletes to play for the Broncos, he may be the best person to ever play for the Broncos. I mean, the situations he's been in, the injuries he's tried to overcome late in his career, I mean, no one asks him to do the great things he's done for the Broncos.

So I found this on ESPN's site today:
"Marshall was joined by his attorney and newly retired Broncos receiver Rod Smith to review the off-field issues that have plagued the receiver for the past couple of seasons. Though he has yet to be convicted of any crime, he has been arrested and ticketed numerous times, which could lead to a suspension under the league's conduct policy. A decision from the commissioner's office is expected next week as to whether Marshall will be suspended, and if so, how long it will be."

--Now the Marshall situation has been talked about to death, so I want to focus on this: Can you BELIEVE what a stand up guy Rod Smith is? He traveled to help defend Marshall and speak to Goodell. This man means so much to this team, I just pray he will stay with Denver to mentor the players--WE NEED HIM

I agree AALS, I think he was let go because Mike was giving him the ability to use his talent (which he has) to play somewhere else. But like Lynch said, I just woulda liked some value....everyone excited about camp!?!?!

Good points guys. I definitely think both of those are possibilities. I would've been more happier if we traded him for some value, but yea, maybe it was the right thing by letting him go.

I know I have said it a lot but still, I just don't see how Mike Bell fell off the radar so badly. Could we not have traded him to a RB-needy team (like Bears before they got Kevin Jones) for ANYTHING, like 3-6th rounder?? He wasn't a fumble--happy guy. He fumbled 2 times (and lost only 1) in 163 attempts in his 2 years...So what gives? I'm not sayin he should be our starter but I think he had value we could have traded for--not just outright released

I hope Brandon Marshall has a 100 catch season in '08, but if not we have the other Brandon. Stokeley is probably the best slot receiver in the leauge. Remember guys, we have a ton of free agents and one great rookie to fill the slots and rack up the yards...

Yea, I agree. I hope I didn't imply that I hope he doesn't. But I do want to say that, if he does get 100, what does that say about the rest of the receivers? That they can't produce. We go out and get all these guys and they can't produce? To answer my own question, I think if BM gets 100, it shows how focused he was in recovering from the arm injury. It can also help the other guys by BM leading by example AND they can get inspired, from what he went threw. Now, I'm not signing he's a Jon Lester or anything, but that would be a great thing to go from a serious arm injury and being scrutinized by the press and his teammates, and still has time to focus on catching 100.

100 Catches for Marshall shouldn't be a stretch, I actually would say the he should get about 8-10 catches a game, so 100 should be EASY

He then goes on to say that yea, 100 balls would be nice, but he wants to spread the offense and would like everyone to contribute.

Also, in it, we have another guarantee from a Bronco: 100 catches from Brandon Marshall this season. If another one comes up, we should start a guarantees counter.

Well, I've tried to get through all along that the media tries to think that they know everything, which everyone obviously knows about. I really don't know though, if it will be a surprise to them. Because like I always say, ESPN and others are always shocked when the Broncos do bad, yet they never pick them to win a game (exaggeration). They never talk about how much potential they have to be a great team. Last year, most of the panel said that the Broncos would not make the playoffs, yet when they did miss them, they sounded shocked. So I have no idea how the media is going to react when the season is over if we have a great year, or we do not. In my opinion, I will be shocked if we have another bad season. All of us, I think, in one way or another have seen things that we've wanted to happen so far in this offseason. But if we have another season like we did this past season, injury wise, I won't be shocked to miss the playoffs, but I will be shocked of the fact that' we'd have another unfortunate season full of injuries.

And if you think Mike Bell has no way of getting another shot to be a productive RB then look at Mike Anderson. He was a great RB then got moved around to FB and fell back on the Depth chart and then came back a few years later to have a 1000 yard season. I don't think Mike Bell has fumbilitis like a lot of people think.
--I'm not advocating Bell become our number 1 I'm just saying we have a lot of strong RB's in our stable still

I always felt that Henry could have been HUGE in this system, BUT the guy isn't focused on football.

I think that cutting him now is the RIGHT call. It will let the other RB's work for the job now.

Yea, I agree. And I'll take the inexperienced young players over the old hurt players.

We basically have a youger team this year and it will take a while for the younger players to get acclimated to the speed and brutality of the NFL.

Hopefully 2 of those 10 wins are against the Chargers. I'd be really happy then.

I believe the Broncos have the team to go 10-6 this year,but they have to get lucky and also outwork the competition. All the new players on our roster have that work ethic and the attitude to win at all costs.

I'm more upset with the Power Ranking, and here's why. ESPN, for quite a while now, has been downing the Broncos, not mentioning much, not putting them with elite teams, not saying that they're not playoff bound. But when all this stuff comes true, they act surprised and asking what's happening. The real question is, What's happening with YOU, ESPN? So inconsistent, makes me so mad. As for a C+ plus draft, I wouldn't look much into that, I mean, how are they going to know how good a sixth rounder [ie. Terrell Davis] is or even a first rounder [ie. Ryan Leaf] for that matter.

Broncos get no respect from ESPN, Power Ranking of 23 and Draft Grade of C+... What do you guys think?

Good point Loveland, Cutler had all those things going against him last year, and still performed well, or average. People ask me why I say Jay is better than Derek Anderson last year. Well, look at what Jay had going against him, to what D.A. had against him.

--I think the Cutler Diabetes thing has run it's course, it's the only thing on Broncos headlines nowadays. Sounds like Jay has got it under control and he's almost gained all his old weight back, so it's time to let this subject go...last thing I'll say about this tho is this....Jay Cutler was top 12 in Passer Rating, Top 10 in Yards, Top 13 in Pass Pct. in his first full season, when our "#1" receiver was hurt for 12 games, Our O-line was shot....and oh yeah this other minor thing--HE HAD UNTREATED TYPE 1 DIABETES...Now he'll be healthy, have a blue chip left tackle(Not to mention the best center in the game back healthy), and an entire fleet of WR's at his disposal....Cutler looks poised to have a breakout 2nd full season--I'm excited. Let's get our D-line to the QB and I believe this could be a great season...probably not Super Bowl bound but a REAL SHOT at the playoffs and hopefully disrupting someone's super bowl hopes (New England I'm looking at you)

AALS, since I live in Arizona I see the Devils games all the time. I already said Torrain was a beast. Baret was above average when healthy and he was a standout on their defense. But he has some serious injury issues. He might have potential to be our future Nickel or even starting saftey.

Yeah I read about it...I hope for his sake, firstly, that he keeps himself healthy because there is more to life than football. But at the same time I have a lot of faith in him, as a fan, and know he's a smart guy who can keep on his meds and diet/exercise routine, etc. I still see him being just as great as we all think he'll be. They just have to monitor him closely...

--I saw in each profile either the words "Great work ethic" "Terrific locker room character" and "Hidden Gem of Draft'...Shanahan really stuck to his guns and QUIETLY (which is unlike him) drafted quality, character players who will make an impact

First off, I am surprised, and a little disappointed that Shanahan didn't move at all. Second, I'm relieved because we have a chance to at least look at Erin Henderson a little bit more.

And didn't we hear that a certain ALI HIGHSMITH was a late first or 2nd round talent at linebacker from BSCHWARTZ??? turns out when he was on our poll in the 4th round was being a little optimistic haha...

Can anyone believe Shanahan sat on EVERY pick and didn't trade at all? I'm just amazed(and sorta proud)...had to have taken some self-restraint on his part.

We have Erin Henderson fall in our laps and we take a frickin full back? WTF?

Ah, Pat Sims. Let's see, we had him getting drafted by us in the second round. That would be nice if he could fall in out laps.

I would also be totally fine with getting Erin Henderson.He looks like he has great size, os a big hitter, which is a soft spot for me, and has great work ethic, which is always a big plus. The only problems that I would be concerned about is that he has had some injuries, and isn't as quick as I would like.

As for Tom Zbikowski, it looks like he may be taken before our 4th rounds picks, but if he is available, I don't really know at this point if I would want him, but he does look attracting. He has the intangibles of a leader and a big hitter. But, the thing that draws me away from him is his pass coverage. Maybe we should wait until the late rounds to get a guy like Corey Lynch from App St. He can help on special teams, is a good ball handler, and loves to be physical. The things that worry me is that he played in D-2 and also isn't great at the pass coverage.

In my opinion, we should just wait till the later rounds to get a safety. In between lets get some LB's, D-Linemen, maybe even a running back so Mike can feel like it's Christmas.

We also have Pat Simms of Auburn and Dre Moore from MD at DT's left on the board too.

Yeah, there are TONS of good linebackers still out there. Adibi, Connor, Beau Bell, Highsmith, Erin Henderson (I'm a big fan of him) and Wheeler

--Anyone have any opinions on Tom Zbikowski from Notre Dame. He is a safety that isn't a first year starter but an ANIMAL, and would tear it up on special teams...He also has the mean streak to eventually be a badass Safety after Mcree, Lynch, et al. have all retired.

Actually, to tell you the truth, I would've hated to get DeSean. I don't like taking people with an attitude problem, no matter how good they are.

As for linebackers, I would really like to get Adibi, who was one of my guys on my List of Players to Watch during the season. I would also like to get Phillip Wheeler from GT.

And Xavier Adidbi and Ali Highsmith are both still on the board. We still have plenty of linebackers around to pickup as backups....We need to look at DT too.

It's tough, Lynch, I can understand your frustration with picking Royal with Desean still on the board. I wonder too--if Desean is such a physical risk with his size, then why pick someone with the same exact build...I don't know...

I think this guy is sorta a future WR pick with an immediate impact on special teams as our returner. I think worst case scenario, he is a Stokely in the making, and best case scenario he is a Steve Smith or Santana Moss in a year...
--I think tomorrow needs to all be about the lines, then kicker and maybe Punter...

Ha, actually, looking more into the Eddie Royal pick, I kinda like this guy. I was basing him off of stats before, but when I look at the pros and cons, this guy can fit on our team very good. The negatives are minimal, and things that the staff can work on like catching the ball with his hands and working off of jams off the line, which he won't need to do should he ever go against De'Angelo Hall.

I liked the Dexter Jackson pick, but now I don't considering he has just been taking.

Limas Sweed is agreat WR, no doubt. But we're not looking for the 6'4" posession wide receiver--we have that in Brandon Marshall. That's a very good point AALS. If JT doesn't have his game any more, which I think he still has, he can always tutor our line. It is a relatively young line too.

I for one would love to have Jason Taylor tutor our young defensive linemen, imagine the tricks of the trade he could share with them. It would speed up their development tremendously. i would be willing to give up a couple of late round conditional draft picks in 2009.

Yeah, but Lynch, we haven't speant anything on him yet--and whatever we do spend will be conditional upon his playing time (so one would hope that means MORE playing time means BIG contribution to defense) I just think this is less of a risk with the possiblity of a higher reward.
--I'm not saying Robertson is the player to save the Broncos run-defense. I'm just saying that HOW we aquired a possible BIG contributor couldn't have gone any better. It's all dependent upon him being healthy--and I think it's been agreed on that if he's healthy he'll be a big contributor.

I wish I were excited as you are about it Loveland. But the fact of the matter is, the Broncos DT choices the past few years have been grim. This guy doesn't look any different with only, I think, around 4 sacks last year. Hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Okay, it IS official. . Read the first comment. Somehow, someway, every time the Broncos do something, it all comes back to the fact/non-fact that Shanhan should be fired.

We have signed or are ABOUT to sign Darrell Jackson. I don't know what you guys think but I think this is their best WR move yet. He was in a $hitty offense last year with no one throwing to him, but if you look past that ONE year he has been an above average WR. With Marshall taking most of the heat from #1 CB's this year and a rocket arm like Cutler passing to him, expect to see Jackson rebound from last year.

We have two fifth rounders so its totally worth it, even if he doesn't work out. He will be better than any day 2 DT we can find. And he is still young. He was like a top five pick, let's give him a shot.

And I may have over-reacted on the injury stuff. Robertson has started in 75 of the 80 games his team has been apart since he was drafted--and 31 of his last 32. If we can get him for a 5th rounder I say maybe it's worth the risk.

So I'm with Lynch--I don't really like this idea only because about 10 days ago I read this in the Rocky Mountain News:

They say that Cutler was "calling him out". And like you said, it's not like the whole point of the interview was to bash Brandon.

And the thing is about us draft a LT to protect Cutler, I know it's a bad thing to focus on but, Cutler is actually a better QB on the run. I know it's kind of funny to say, but it's almost seems like we don't even need more O-Linemen, even though I would like to get at least one or two.

Yeah, and that's the tough part--the question is "Is a franchise LT worth more than 2 additional IMPACT players?". And I think they are, provided we know we can get them. I think Cutler could be protected this year without a Clady or a Williams, provided Shanahan drafts SMART with his extra picks and picks up a serviceable O-lineman or two at some point.
--Another point was brought up inside the article by someone who responded: Shanahan has NEVER shown his hand before a draft so this could just be all smoke and mirrors seeing what the field is doing with their picks. I mean Cutler hadn't even TALKED to the Broncos before he was drafted...so I don't take this article TOO seriously

I agree Loveland, I'm not a big fan of trading down, I don't think anybody is, but if you do look at this year's players, and look at the Broncos needs, it does look like a good strategy to trade down for more picks instead of spreading them out.

I agree that Koutivides deserves a shot, and so does Boss. But if we can shore up WR, DT, LT then I don't see a reason not to take out an insurance policy on Boss (who probably will get hurt for one game at least) and draft a LB

Jay Cutler has been getting some flack over his statements over Marshall,but I believe that he's showing signs of being a good leader on and off the field.

Yea, I totally agree with you, especially your second statement. I think he's tired of some of the vets questioning his leadership, so he just wanted to show some in the interview. Good move.

Yeah I watched it...you're right they did blow it out of proportion. But I think you're unerplaying it at the same time. I WAS surprised at how publicly critical Cutler was with him.
--He has two options. He coulda been like Scheffler and said "Well weird things happen, I can be clumsy too" or he coulda gone the way he went and been a bit critical. I think it he was trying to demonstrate leadership. Show that, yes, Marshall is a star and a good guy at heart and will continue to be a big part of their offense (hopefully), but at the same time, he has to be accountable.
--I think it was an admirable move, and yes, was WAY OVERPLAYED by the media. But I think it needs to be taken for what it's worth too--the Captain and growing face of this franchise trying to show his team and others, that this won't be tolerated.

I looked at two mock drafts and one had him in the late forth, the other in the early fifth.

If you guys go on ESPN or Yahoo, don't look too much into the Brandon Marshall/Jay Cutler stories. They're blowing it way out of proportion. Actually watch the interview to get the feeling of it.

I've had NFL sunday ticket since the first year it came out.

When I can't watch it at home we go to Buffalo Wild Wings and watch the game.

I think I missed 4 or 5 games this year which is the most I've missed in a LONG time.

Jay Cutler and VY were already eaten up. And I've never been too high on Matty L. And its not like Jake Plummer was bad, he just brought us to the AFC championship. I think part of the reason he has an "iffy" season because this hot shot Cutler was basically threatening him with his job. With an elite running game, and I'm also drafting a wr in the 2nd round, I think we could have went right back.

Yeah it took me like 15 mins to find that site with just a LITTLE kicker information, all the others just gave rankings. From what I can tell, Lynch, ur right on target--they almost all seem to like Coutu the best.

Ok, I'm not trying to be all, oh I know everything cause I watch kickers, but, I can predict who to get and not get. Of the 13 on the list, I only actually saw 3 play: Art Carmody, Brandon Coutu, and Jeremy Ito. Of those three, I think Coutu is the best because he has both accuracy and can kick it long. He is also pretty consistent. Carmody Is also consistent, but can't kick the long ball. Ito, who I liked in the beginning of the year, just wasn't consistent when I watched him. Here and there he'll miss some 30 yard kicks. So if we do in fact draft a kicker, I'd go with Coutu or possibly Carmody.

With 9 picks this year (assuming that we actually take 9 guys), you can get a Kicker somtime 5th round or later and be just fine.

I agree with Elway here, Mare is an alright kicker, but has issues so I'm thinking we would hate him by mid-season.

I'm honestly not worried about Kicker. Elam was great but we can find some talent.

I think that if we can't get Clady with our 12th pick then we should definitely get a D=Tackle. then get an Offensive lineman with our 2nd rounder. Desean Jackson would be a great pickup as a 4th rounder,but he wont be around that late...

But if Clady is off that table, which is a real possiblity at this point, then we gotta trade down and pick up Williams or Jackson.

Elway the problem with Jackson is the depth at WR, if he is there in the 2nd round sure, but he won't be.

You see we can land a fast WR in the 4th round, a starting LT is something you can't really get outside of the first round this year.

Loveland, I think the Ideal situation would be getting Clady with our first, Pat Sims with our 2nd, then getting the lesser verision of Desean in Lavelle Hawkins.

I'd be all for DeSean Jackson. We need a returner. I watched him burn it up when Cal played up here at CSU, and that's the kind of breakaway speed and playmaking ability we need to actually get something out of the special teams in the return game.

Oh, I believe it's a real possibility. I can easily see Shanahan daydreaming, on April 26,of Desean Jackson making a catch 50 yards down the field because Cutler just bombed that baby out there...I don't doubt that for a moment...just as a fan, I'd think we could maybe get that from a few other WR's down the draft.

And I know there's no chance in hell D.J. wins this poll, or probably gets another vote, but I still think we should seriously think about getting him. And Mike Shanny has always been partial to "flash" so I think its a better possiblity then people realize.

If we could somehow manage to get a him in the 2nd round it would be great but I think he fits our situation too well to pass up. Other teams have the same boom/bust logic as you so we might be able to trade down to get him at a better value. I think we can get a dt in the 2nd and then maybe trade up with our mutiple fourth rounders into the third for another tackle.

I gotta side with Lynch on this one.
--E4P, you're probably right--and i gotta admit, I didn't know Carolina's Steve Smith was the same height, so Jackson's size worries me less now.
--Having said that, it's just the fact we have so many holes that need to be filled that we can't use our #1 on a "boom/bust" type of player. We need to use our best pick on the closest thing to a sure bet as we can...and with some of the O-lineman in this draft, it seems to be that they are that closest thing...
--Eddie Royal and Dexter Jackson have that same type of talent that Desean has (tho less polished) of being lightning quick, deep threats--I just think that getting them in the 3rd or 4th round would be less of a risk.

I don't care about his scouting report. I have the Pac 10 network and I've probably seen him play more that anyone here. He's the perfect compliment to Marshall and he could help us in one of our weakest departments, the return game. Imagine if we could get a Devin Hester-lik return man whose also a great reciever.

Also, Williams seems like more of a pass blocker, which we don't necessarily need because Jay is actually a better QB on the run. Clady is more of a run blocker.

For those of you who are voting or thinking of voting for DeSean Jackson, first of all, I personally think he would be going too early, second, take a look at his weaknesses on this scouting report. To me, it overshadows his strengths.

Okay, this is ridiculous. If anyone of you actually watched Rome is Burning with Jemele Hill as his replacement, you saw her burn Brandon Marshall at the end of the show. As much as I hate Rome is Burning and as much as I hate when people act like Jim Rome, I watched it anyway. At the end of the segment she says that Marshall should sepnd more time with Cutler and Stokley and less time with the Hamburgler. I know I can blow things out of proportion sometimes, but this just rubs me the wrong way. I mean, what kind of world is it that it's turned into a crime when star athletes can't even do regular day things by themselves? What? Do they have to hold their teammates' hand when they cross the street too? O, and before the segement she says that he is one of the strongest receivers in the league, just to add more hilarity to the story. This is the only time when you hear a Broncos or the Broncos as a whole get complimented. When something bad happens. The Broncos just had one of their worst seasons under Shanahan and all the media is saying, well this is very unlike a Mike Shanahan team. It's like, how are non-Broncos fans supposed to know when you're not doing your job and talk about them when they're doing good. Idk if it's just me, but it seems like the Broncos are only talked about when something bad happens.

Ok, I know that Elam won games for us last year, but AAL&S don't you DARE say he is the only clutch player on this team.

I seem to remember a 23 year old QB that led drives with little time on the clock that put this team in FG position. or the 22 year old WR that made plays happen at the end of games.


Now on to the Elam issue. Denver had ZERO problem bringing him back next year, but if you have learned nothing from this year's off-season know that this is a team looking to be good for the next 5-10 years. Elam is NOT a long term fix a the position. Atlanta signed him long term and made him the guy for the next 4 years.

Love the guy, but he will be 41 at the end of that contract.

If I'm no mistaken, I think the Pittsburgh kick was like the Buffalo one. Idk, but somewhere during the game he had a kick like the Bills game.

I agree that Elam is real clutch. And I'll be the first to say he was a great leader and a first ballot Hall of Famer and that out of all the kickers in the league I'd ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pick him to be our kicker.
--Having said that let's be honest. I really think the only kick he made that was EXTREMELY difficult was the Buffalo Kick. The kick that was made in the Raiders game, the Vikings game, and Steelers game were ALL makeable fieldgoals for just about any kicker in the league--I don't think any of the 3 were outside of 30 some yards....so we wouldn't have necesarily lost ANY of those games--MAYBE one. Yes they were OT or final second field goals, so nerves are involved, but they were makeable...
--I'm not trying to take anything away from Elam...he's the best...but let's not abandon ship and say we lost a Jay Cutler or Brandon Marshall. We can recover from the loss of Elam.

the Colbert deal isn't that bad, I mean it is less than a Million a year, the guy has had a good year out there so you never know. But the best part is the his contract has ZERO guarantee, so if we ever choose to part ways with the guy it won't cost a thing.

Yea, it looks like they're gonna have more focus on the draft this year than the previous years, cause their FA players haven't lived up to expectations. I agree with this, but at the same time, like AAL&S said, I'd like to get some proven players who still can play the game too. I also agree with BS and E4P. As for the MLB, There aren't any good ones in the draft either. I say either try and talk to Al Wilson, or keep DJ in the middle.

It'll definately be interesting to see who we go after. I'd like to see Gibirl Wilson and then maybe Briggs or Boss...it sounds to me that Shanahan might focus on OT and WR in the first 2 rounds, judging by how they are addressing FA and off-season trades.

Everything I'm seeing is saying that we are going to fill the Safety slot with a FA. The draft isn't really deep in that position.

Colorado's Terrence Wheatley Cornerback was very impressive at the combine, maybe draft him late rounds and convert him to Safety? Linebacker Jordon Dizon also from C.U. is worth a shot as a free agent...

It wouldn't suprise me if Clady is gone at 12. I'm guessing you mean Connor, not Donnor, he's a late first round pick IMO. Phillips's stock has been falling, after a sub par combine. Right now I'd say he is a 2nd round pick.

I think the Rogers deal was close to finished, but now some other teams have put in offers trying to get him before the deal is finished.

Early this month I wrote a series of blogs about my ideal offseason for the Broncos. They went over pretty well but of course everyone had their own opinion. So now I'm thinking of doing a group Ideal offseason for the Broncos. Ill make a poll for what we should do at each position, and then I'll give it a day or so to allow the votes to tally. But I only want to do this if we can get a good portion of people to particpate. Tell me if you would and what you think.

Adding on to your Bly comment, I saw an interview where he was talking about how great Bailey and Lynch are. He said that he isn't too proud to beg Lynch to come back.

BSchwartz--I won't be able to keep you in check. We have too much potential not to get amped come July and August. With a solid draft at a couple key spots and a smart move or two in FA, Denver could have somethin special.

Well I'm for Shaun Rogers. I read he doesn't have a great off-season work ethic, so that needs to change--ESPECIALLY with the youth at the D-line for Denver. But then again I heard Dre Bly was a "Me" type player and not a hard worker, when we aquired him last year.
I'll be the first to argue that statement now. He looked like a real team player who tried to get the crowd going and who defended the coaches when under fire, didn't throw em under the bus. I was even impressed with some of the press he got with his off-field visits to schools and some of the things he said.
So with this as an example I won't believe the negative things said about Rogers attitude....yet

McFadden, is not worth trading up. Too many needs elswhere, but it doesn't matter he won't make it past Atlanta or the Jets.

Loveland- I am getting a little excited with some of these guys we are looking at, but I get the feeling that we are just doing the same thing that we did a year ago. Going out and getting every big name to fill the holes from the year before.

Then again, I'm most likely going to be amped the closer we get to the season. Just keep me in check when I start saying Super Bowl.

The McFadden question hurts my head too much to think about. Just the possibilities he would have with Denver are amazing. But then you look at what Denver has done in trying to restructure with Henry and how Shanahan talked about loving Young but that he wasn't an every-play back...I would love to see McFadden fall to 12 and us get him...BUT I think the move would create a lot of hositlity among the team...he probably won't fall that far, and if he does I can see Shanahan seeing a value at getting multiple draft picks for the 12 spot from a desperate team in need of a HB.

I really think that Henry is going to show us something this year. I mean when he was healthy he was a beast.

As for Selvin, he needs to hit the weight room, I mean he better be there right now! The guy has all the moves and the speed, but in short yardage situations he really couldn't break tackles at all.

Also as far as the WR's go, I like the idea of Berrian. If not him there is a TON of speed at WR in this draft.

Ok, this is getting way out of hand. Should the NFL get rid of the Franchise Tagging? First Allen in KC, then Haynesworth in Tennessee, Suggs, in Baltimore, and now Williams in Green Bay. Now it looks like our whole offseason lies in the hands of the NFL Draft, which I have completely no trust in. Franchising players just seems so stupid. The only people it doesn't piss off is the organization. It pisses off fans, the other 31 teams, and even the players that they're tagging.

Well, we've made our first move at the LB position, releasing Holdman.

I think we have to go with a couple of these options to see some success. DJ will be a pro bowl MLB if he has some supporting players around him. We need to get a vet that can help provide some experience and leadership at LB. Boss isn't old yet, so I say have Dre Bly and Champ convince Boss to come revive his career in Denver. We also should draft a LB in the 1st or second round I think. I Think along with adding a safety in round 1 or two we can go with what Elway4Prez wants and add depth at the line (both sides) after--or look in to free agency

I would move DJ to the outside again and draft a young middle linebacker and sign a veteran middle guy to bring him along and possibly share playing time!!!

I voted for sign a cheep guy. Possible canidate would be Clavin Pace. Pace is a former Cardinal and had 98 tackles and 6 sacks last year.

Yea, I haven't liked some of their past decisions lately. No Carter, no Gradishar, no TD. I mean, TD, even though he didn't have a long of a career as other RB's have had, he STILL put up number like he played for 10 years with a healthy body. @ SB, a SB MVP, a 2,000 yrd rushing season. I don't think Elway gets a Super Bowl without TD. Maybe one, if any.

I think Sharpe is a lock to get in next year. I think TD should get in too, but the media doesn't care about Denver so he probably won't get in.

He's also 6 feet tall and 225, so not really small for a Half back--if you look at the players we've had a HB before....it has to be some sort of character problem or something we can't see cus we aren't in the locker room

Mike Bell never had any fumbling problems...in fact that was a reason why he got a shot to begin with--TATUM Bell has the slipper fingers...Mike averaged 4.3 yds a carry and had 20 receptions for 128 yards...He would be terrific at HB with Selvin...There has to be another reason he was benched--see for yourself

Fumblitis happened to Bell. I liked Bell, but his fumbles combined by the fact that he is a smaller guy that relies on a power running game doesn't really seem to work.

I know Henry has had issues, but you are talking about the team that drafted Clarett, then went out and took Thomas last year who was kicked off of the Gators team. If Henry gets healthy he isn't going anywhere.

Henry is as good as gone. Too many issues and too much money invested in a troubled past his prime running back.

I was so f_cking pumped about Henry last year after watching him run the pre-season San Fran game. I think he has the talent but it was a combo of stability and our O'line just not quite makin the consistent holes we need...WHAT HAPPENED TO MIKE BELL?? He was supposed to be a monster this year, then we get Henry and then he gets moved to FB? I just don't understand why that happened--any info on why he was moved to FB?

I don't know Aaron, when Henry was healthy he was actually pretty good. I actually like the idea of a Henry/Young backfield next season. It will look a lot like Jones/Barber, maybe a little better.
