Honestly Rings and I really mean it no. I wouldn't trade Wideman for most players in NHL right now, I promise you he will start getting his due around league as this team starts getting noticed listen he is miles better than Chara right now, but when they talk about B's defenseman its always Chara, just look at the plus minus, Wideman played a team high 30 mins Sat night against Det, thats half the game. I'll trade you Chara for Boyes
Blues break the tie on a GW 3rd period goal from Brad Boyes. That is his 12th....and the Note gets an empty net goal to win 4-2.
Hey az. That is 55 goals from Boyes this year and last. Don't you wish the Bruins had him??
The Blues are currently in the 3rd period at Atlanta, tied at 2.
Of note: the Blues second goal was scored by Keith Tkachuk, which was also point number 1,000 for his career.
Disappointing home loss to Edmonton yesterday, especially after being up 2-0. Legace was in goal for the second straight game after Mason's stellar game against Nashville on Tuesday. I know Manny is the #1, but it seems like you'd go with the hot hand the last couple of games, and Mason has been better than Manny lately. Play the hot hand, Andy.
az....I know he's good. I think it will turn out to be a good trade both ways in the long run. When Wideman was in STL, his shot was very impressive. He came in right as MacInnis retired, so I saw him as the heir apparent to QB the powerplay when Al retired.
Rings I promise you I will not bring it up anymore, but If you watch Wideman every game I swear to god you would want to take that trade back, he is so god dam good an so kool with the puck in his own end and know what else he has a nasty shot. I know boyes iis a sniper but Wideman is just playing with so much confidence he is their leader back there not Chara
Yeah, I think the Blues real step up will probably be next year. We'd probably be scoring more goals if we didn't have Kariya, McDonald, Berglund all out......but lately the goaltending has been great and the penalty kill has been stellar..... JD has built this team the right way, and it's going to pay dividends over the next 2-3 years.
The Blues are starting to remind me of the B's last year, they were horrible defensively, then they shored up D and couldn't score goals, plus have a ton of young talent, so its good teach the young players defense 1st and they get the hard part out of way and next yr. they score like crazy look at B's young guns, they all play great d but transition great from D to O
Blues lose at Colorado tonight, 3-1.
Tkachuk got the only goal, his tenth.....and he now has 998 career points.
Another tough win on the road tonight......great to see Mason get a W.
That's 3-0-1 in the last four......and we're back to the .500 mark. Let's keep it going, Note.
I heard Andy Murray's open-line show last night, and he said Oshie isn't even close to coming back. Probably several more weeks from the way it sounded.
Hey guy lets try to fresh the place up with some post! Even if you think i wrong love to hear what you think.
Hey tried to call him but fat boy didn't get back to me, but did he do Ok in his little fight, I bet he did something cheap though and also took a stupid penaltie he is famous for that when you get under his skin.
It's great to get a point last night against Montrea, but it could have been two. I didn't like the way we got outworked in the 3rd period. Montreal was the team that played Saturday night and then traveled......they should have been the tired team.
I do think losing Andy McDonald disrupted the team a bit. The line combos changed, and the Note seemed to struggle.
Now McDonald is out indefinitely, which is a much bigger loss than not getting the extra point. Kariya, Oshie, McDonald out......it's rough going right now.
Okay....gotta keep it rolling today against the Canadiens...need to put together a winning streak...
Pick the Rams to lose......
Hey, Tkachuk got in a fight last night.... great game.....four fights and a lot of feistiness. Just the way a Blues-Hawks game should be.
Andy McDonald is REALLY playing well right now.
Good call rings, I am gonna have to get you to give me some winners Sunday my bookie is kicking my butt.
I can feel it - we're gonna beat the 'hawks tonight. Remember - you heard it here first.....
Yeah....I didn't see it but it sounds like Legace is maybe just not ready to be back yet.
Berglund scored again......I think he is going to be a complete stud as progresses.
I don't think fat boy has 40 in him, Boyes will though.
Nice comeback by your Blues last night Rings but fell short, you guys got to tighten up the D though, just a little note, your boy Wideman was #1 star last night against the Hawks and didn't even get a point, just saying in another year your gonna say wow and we had him.
I agree I am just saying that even in Boston everybody said b's got screwed but what they didn't realize was how good Wideman is now they are finally seeing the light laugh kid but he is gonna be in the Norris talk this year
5 game winless streak. Hopefully we can turn it around at Buffalo on Wednesday. We need to get Manny back in a groove after his layoff....and get back to playing like we did the first 5 or 6 games.
Wideman is solid, but it's still not a bad trade for the Blues.......40 goal scorers like Boyes don't grow on trees.
Not only does wideman lead the B's in plus / minus he also leads the Blues in it
Guys I am a Blues fan to, I am always a fan of whatever team Keith plays for, by the way Wideman scored again last night thats 4 goals already not bad for a defenseman, plus he is their best defensive defenseman right now playing way better than Chara
MGK - I was just able to post.....so try it again.....
MGK - The group message boards were broken for a couple of days, but I thought it was fixed, because I was able to post a new message to a different group board last night.
Oh, and az is a B's fan, that's why he's giving us grief. I'd still trade Wideman for a 40 goal scorer anyday
why cant i post anything thing on the message board? and don't hate for trading wideman. we got boyes.
Wideman with a goal and a helper last night, why can't the Blues get guys like that
Great effort tonight, even though the Note lost the SO to the Sharks. I thought the Blues played as hard tonight as they have all year. Bishop was good except for the weak second goal.
Huge mistake on the tying fourth goal, when Boyes and McKee had a chance to clear the puck, but couldn't get the puck out.
At least we got a point. Great effort...and we are hanging in there without Kariya, Legace and Oshie.
I agree MeanGreen. I'm excited about the Kids. I thought Berglund looked pretty tentative his first 5 or 6 games, but he has come on. Oshie I am impressed with and Pietrangelo I think looks great for an 18 year old. He and Johnson the next few years are going to be a great blueline combo.
Did you see the kids of the blues getting done or what? Patrik Berglund sweet goal with a nice steal. David Perron getting done like always. Alex Pietrangelo making it happen on that blue line, he still got a little work, but he did far better than i thought he was going to do. And i think Ben Bishop should have started hope he does tonight.
Other the other player i would like to call out is Roman Polak he has been with the river men and come up a few times, and i never thought he was any good and when i saw that he was on the roster this year i was disappointed. But he quickly changed my mine, and i think last night was the best game he played yet. I know hes not an offensive power house but his defensive play and passing out of our zone was great. He looked good.
What do you all think?
They were physical, but not bad. Avery was pretty quiet in that game.....the Blues won like 6-1, and were in command.
Avery is a jerk.....
Did you watch the game were they dirty and physical.
Yeah, I'm a huge Blues fan....long time, long suffering......kind of like my football team.
Yeah, we beat Dallas at home like a week ago or so....one of our better games, actually.
Wow your a huge Blues fan huh, thats awesome I promise I am coming out there and you will get to meet some guys I know we are grown men so its not like we are little kids and get all excited but they really do appreciate the normal loyal fan, by the way the B's had an awesome game Sat night with Dallas. have you played them yet are they in your div. if so be prepared they are dirty and cheap the b's kicked their arse with their fists as well as in the scoreboard. Avery and Ott were throwing elbows and everything else around.
Big game tonight, need a win to make it a winning homestand.
Let's Go Blues!
Too much of a difference in penalties tonight, as well. The Blues didn't work hard enough in their own zone to draw penalties from Carolina......that was a disappointment tonight.
Difficult loss tonight. The Blues played well.....Mason played well, just allowing the one PP goal.
Looked like there was bad ice tonight, as we just couldn't get a flow going offensively, and couldn't seem to get the puck to stop bouncing. We really need a point or two against the Penquins on Saturday now, to make this 7 game homestand successful.
Yeah, Adam signed a contract after his first monster year, then some other guys got more money so he wanted to renogiate, but Blues management said no, so Adam didn't show up for practice one day and just held out.
We eventually traded him to Boston for Janney and Stephan Quintal
Did we get Oates from you guys, the bruins were the masters of stealing people back in the day, we got Cam Neely for Barry Pederson, we traded Ron Graham to the LA kings and got their #1pick and turned it into Ray Bourque and got Brad Mcrimmon with our own pick then traded him to Philly for Pete Peeters in his prime. we got this awesome defenseman named Dennis wideman for this guy Brad Boyes from Stloo. whats up rings check out our pool I totaled all the points up from every week and ranked them
It's all right, az.....we'll still take Boyes, thanks.
Besides, didn't we give you enough when we handed over Adam Oates?
Wideman in OT for the B's last night in Edmonton, big win thanks Stloo
After this weekend's games, Tkachuk is only 7 points away from 1,000 for his career.
Nice to see the Blues rebound last night after the debacle on Friday night. Great to see Bishop play so well in goal in his first start......but we have to stop getting goalies injured. That's 3 that are out in just eight games.
He's off to a great start......but yeah, fan mail me the stories.....
Another one last night for fat boy, plus he had a helper to. tied for lead in league in goals.
Do you know how good Keith was when he was younger remember the World Cup when they won gold he was thie leader on that team, he also was one of the toughest guys in the league. I got some good stories for you, I will mail them as i do not want everybody to see.
Yeah, I liked Wideman in STL....he can really shoot the puck. Glad to see him doing well in Boston. I guess that's one of those that worked out well for both teams, because Boyes has been a stud for the Blues
You know something I would still make that trade today with Wideman for Boyes Wideman is an excellent defenseman and is our puck carrying defenseman, he also can put the puck in the net, 13 goals last yr. we reuped him this year for good money
DJ King will now miss the rest of the season following his upcoming shoulder surgery.
Takes a bit of our toughness with him...
Tough loss tonight to Detroit. Blues didn't play badly for two periods but got out-skated. They again showed resiliency, coming back from 3-0 down to make it 3-2. Horrible break when David Backes broke his stick in the Blues zone, leading to the fourth, and ultimately winning goal to make it 4-2.
Still, the boys fought back to 4-3, and then Oshie just missed tying it in the last minute. Tough loss, but good effort against the Champs.
Well, redbird, what you've missed seeing is the Blues playing pretty well. Though it's only 5 games, the special teams have been great, and there seems to be a greater energy than last year. I'm very optimistic at this point.
UGH! The only thing about AFN out here in Iraq is that I can't watch the Blues :(( But I know with you guys, Ten and 51 giving commentary, which I thoroughly enjoy, it helps out alot. I hope to catch a game or three when I'm on leave (preferably the Blues of course!)
Again, I hope you guys agree. I am not and will not give up hope for the Blues. Even if they are mathmatically elimated during the final stretch of the regular season, they are still our boys and I see STL hoisting the Cup.
Other Blues injuries:
Lee Stempniak is expected to play Wednesday against the Wings.....Patrik Berglund is day to day after missing Saturday's game against Chicago, and DJ King may need shoulder surgery, which could keep him out for up to 3 months.
Chris Mason will be out for up to two weeks, following an emergency appendectomy on Friday. The Blues have recalled Ben Bishop from Peoria to back up Legace in the interim.
Great comeback from 3-1 down in the 3rd to beat Chicago! This team is showing much more resiliency than last year.....when they rarely came from behind.
2 for 2 on the 7 game home stand..... very nice.
AWESOME performance tonight! Complete effort from everyone...this team seems to have a lot of energy right now. Got a couple more PP goals, and Legace was great tonight.
Turco wasn't sharp, so the Blues caught a break there, but they badly outworked Dallas tonight. It was a fun, fun game to watch.
You're right, 51. Great game in the opener. Lots of energy....and yeah.....what's up with our PP actually working?? It looked better and more in sync that at any time last year.
I didn't see tonight's loss, but it's good to see the vets Tkachuk and Boyes getting goals early for us.
GREAT game last night, two goals by Tkatchuk are great to see, and then a PP goal by Boyes.
Since when do we score on the PP let alone 5 goals!?
Okay, it's opening day for the Note, and I'm going to go on record right now. I've read a lot of negatives about how bad the Blues are gonna be, and how'll they be in the bottom 3 in the West.
I just don't see it. I think we'll be a surprise team and at least contend for a playoff berth. The young talent has to come through, and it will definitely hurt to not have Johnson, but I just have the feeling the Blues won't be as bad as everyone thinks they will be.
Two days until the season opener!!!!
LET'S GO BLUES!
The Blues beat the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Scottstrade 7-3. Lee Stempniak had 2 goals and TJ Oshie netted his first preseason goal. David Perron scored a late PP goal, but the Blues were just 1-7 on the power play tonight.
Chris Mason played the entire game in goal, allowing 3 goals on 24 shots.
The Note is now 3-2-1 on the preseason.
The Blues lost in an overtime shootout tonight in Toronto, 4-3. Brad Boyes, David Backes and Andy MacDonald had the Blues goals. Manny Legace played the entire game in net....surrendering 3 goals on 30 shots.
The Blues are now 2-2 with one SO loss. They next play against Toronto again, but this time in St Louis on Wednesday night.
The Blues had an offensive explosion on Friday night, beating Atlanta 9-4. David Perron scored 3 goals, and Andy MacDonald contributed 5 assists. Legace gave up 3 goals on 15 shots.
They followed that up on Saturday with a 4-3 loss in Dallas, as Perron added another goal. The Blues scored 2 power play goals in each game, a good sign after having the league's worst PP last year.
The Blues are now 2-2 on the preseason, and next play Monday night in Toronto.
I'd hate to see something like this happen to such a gifted player. Erik is on my fantasy hockey team, which I'm thrilled about, but also devastated that he's down.
Alex Pietrangelo continues to impress me. I think he just may secure himself a roster spot and in turn, fill that void left my Erik's injury.
I don't think the franchise is cursed. Just a case of bad luck. But I am still holding my head high for him.
In possibly the worst news the Blues could get.....star defenseman Erik Johnson is out with a knee injury. John Davidson announced today that Johnson has a torn ACL and also a tear in his MCL.
This is obviously a huge blow to the Blues to lose Johnson for an extended period of time.
Incredibly, reports are that the injury is the result of a freak accident that happened in a golf cart, as Johnson apparently got his leg stuck under the accelerator, which led to the injury.
Incredible that this has happened. To hear of a critical injury like this happening in a golf cart?? Un-freaking-believable. Maybe this franchise really is cursed......
The Blues won their second pre-season game tonight, beating Dallas 3-2. Manny Legace played the first half of the game, allowing 1 goal on 8 shots.
Andy MacDonald, Brad Boyes and Lee Stempniak each had a goal and assist. 2008 Top pick Alex Pietrangelo had a couple of assists, which is a good sign, his chances of making the team out of camp went way up with the news today of Erik Johnson's injury.
The Blues next play Friday at home against Atlanta.
Even though the Blues lost last nite, I am still jazzed by their play. It seems that they have a "Never Say Die" attitude and that's what I like.
I am holding my aspirations high for the Blues this season. GO BLUES!
The Blues lost their pre-season opener tonight to the Kings 2-1. The Game was played in Kansas City. Paul Kariya had the only goal. Chris Mason and Marek Schwarz split duty in net, each giving up one goal.
The game was the preseason debut for both Patrik Berglund and TJ Oshie for the Blues.
The Blues next game is Tuesday night against Dallas at Scottstrade.
Erik Johnson will miss the first 3 days of training camp with a "non-hockey related knee problem". Not sure what that means, but it is not a good way to start camp. He will be re-evaluated this weekend and a determination on his status will be made prior to Tuesday's pre-season opener.
They hold camp at St Louis Mills, where they built an ice arena a few years back. It is in Hazelwood, I believe.....on the north side of STL.
Cool Beans! Say, here does the Blues hold training camp? Would like to take a gander one day.
Training Camp opens tomorrow!!!!!
Hey Ten and to all.
TenRingsSTL has invited me to the Blues Fan page for a few reasons, ones that he knows why, but I would like to tell you those reasons:
1. I'll be relocating from virginia to missouri within the next 8 months, looking to be in missouri by the All-Star Break next July.
2. While I am ashamed to say I was a Ducks fan for many years, I am ashamed at their style of play the last few years, including their Cup win. I am no longer affilated with the Ducks in anyway.
Since I'm moving to Missouri, there are several teams that I have been following, the Cardinals in particular, for quite some time. I have always respected the ST Louis Blues and their style of play. Rest assured, I will bleed Blue.
Please forgive my ignorance as I learn the players and the coaching staff as I am coming from a division rival.
I look forward to many a discussions about the team as I becomed a seasoned Blues fan.
The Blues have signed Alex Pietrangelo, the defenseman who was their first pick in the draft....
I am gonna go. See ya later
I was sorry to see Ryan Johnson sign with Vancouver. I think he'll be missed on faceoffs and especially on the penalty kill.
Great group for all St. Louis sports fans. "St. Louis Die Hards". Check it out and JOIN!

Another tough loss at home to Phoenix..... we're running out of time to get points, so I think the POs are gonna be tough at this point.
Yeah the loss to Phoenix was tough and then giving up 3 in the 3rd to Dallas was rough. I agree that they are going in the right direction, and I like moving Backman for picks. I think they could still pull out the playoffs, but they've got to win these upcoming homegames starting tonight.
Yeah...the Blues are out of it. It was a step in the right direction though, and I hope these moves by organization help.
in all seriousness though... it was a tough loss.
that was a tough loss last night. we were looking really good but just couldnt put it in..... thats what she said!
I agree with you.....this has been a nice week, winning at Denver and then smashing Columbus and Chicago. They need to keep getting the points and get back in the top 8. I think they can do it, especially if Legace keeps playing like he is playing.
I think we have a chance of making the playoffs. We're one pont out...
I'm psyched for this hockey season...... what does anyone think of the Blues Goaltending situation. I like Legace, but I am hoping that Toivenen gets a chance to play at some point this year......I think they could have gotten a steal there.....
Go BLUES! We'll be back in the Playoffs this year....
I'm now blues fan after we got Kariya.
hey, get up!
St. Louis Blues!
