I think the Jags let Stroud go because he no longer is any better than Rob Meier. Yes, I said it, Rob Meier is better than Marcus Stroud. Look at their stats over the last two years. Yes, Stroud has missed time, but he has not had a season with more than 3 sacks since 2004-2005. Marcus used to be one of my favorite players, so it is kind of hard to see him go. But I am fully confident that Rob and Derek Landri can effectively replace him. (P.S: Is anyone else upset that we didn't sign Antwan Odom or Calvin Pace?)

Why are the Jags going to let Stroud go??
steve80984
02/29/08
That's really odd. There's no reason the Jags would take another QB. Garrard proved this season that he is the Jags QB long term. I am curious as to whether they would go for a running back like Oregon's Jonathan Stewart. Fred Taylor can't play forever and a three headed monster is better than a two-headed one.

I just seen the latest mock draft on Rivals.com and they JAX taking Andre Woodson in the 1st round. Did I miss something, why would they take a QB in the First? Garrard did pretty good this year.

It's sad that we lost to the Patriots, but at least the game was tight the whole time. The Jags gave it their all. That's all we can ask from them.

I think Jack Del Rio should be a serious candidate for coach of the year. The only coach I would have put above him was Mike McCarthy of Green Bay, but after the debacle against Chicago, I think Del Rio deserves the award, and a nice long contract extension.

Gray solid??? sorry dude but i disagree. Sure he had 1 good game last year against Kansas but that was just a one off thing. Last week he threw two interceptions and got safteyed. The colts scored TDs of the two interceptions and got two points from the saftey. That means he accounted for 16 of the colts points. If you minus that of the colts score they only had 13 points. Quinn Gray was the reason for that loss an i am already sick of seeing him i think they should bring on Matt.

I disagree with the Matt Jones call, Jamie0. Jones hasn't played QB on a regular basis since college, and I think Quinn Gray will find a way to be solid, and keep this team on track for the playoffs.

Without Garrard the jags are going to struggle to win in the upcomming games. I think that mabe they should start Matt Jones a QB insted of Gray.

Poll Results on Leftwich's releasse and Garrard being named the starter: 16% thought that this was a good move because Garrard outplayed Leftwich in the preseason, 33% weren't so sure about it, since Garrard was benched at the end of last year for Quinn Gray, and 50% thought it was a terrible move, because Byron Leftwich was set to have a breakout year.

You know, this just makes me even more mad that we didn't go after a QB in the draft this year. We passed up Brady Quinn. I wasn't entirely upset that Leftwich was cut but I would rather watch him than Garrard. Above all though, I would rather see someone new playing, I'm tired of watching both of them mess up and make stupid mistakes.

There was a rumor posted on Truth and Rumors today about the Jaguars wanting to bring back Mark Brunell to back up Garrard. I wouldn't count Gray out as the backup. He played pretty well against Kansas City in Week 17 last year.

I agree with you Crazy Maurice Jones-Drew Fan. Darius did not play much over the past few years, so the Jaguars are already used to life on the field without him. It is life off the field, in the locker room, where the Jaguars must fill a leadership void. Darius??? leadership will be replaced if one or two current players on the team step up and take on more of a leadership role on the team than they had before.

Poll results were 2 votes for Gerald Sensabaugh and 1 vote for Reggie Nelson. The poll question was who will be the Jaguars' opening day free safety. The real answer appears to be Reggie Nelson, because Gerald Sensabaugh will move into Donovin Darius' spot, now that Darius has been cut.
