Bleach has more of a hardcore punk sound.

My view is that grunge is not classic rock. Late late 80's hair metal (The Cult, FireHouse, etc.) that's not classic rock. Living Colour is though. Metallica is, too.

I've never seen anywhere or heard from anyone a definitive and set qualifications for something to be considered classic.

There's a classic rock station near me that treats it like this: if it was done at least a decade ago, we're playing it. The other station 'round here rarely plays stuff from the 90's, but pretty much must treat it the same way the other station does.

So... that's how I go about it as well.

The S & M was from 1999, its a concert DVD. They took some of their classic songs, and fused them with an orchestra. It was AWESOME.

Kill Em All was their debut album. It's a "solid" album.

And Justice For All to me, is Metallica's 2nd best album. It was so politically charged. So heavy.

The Black album is what got them famous. Its ok to me. You might love it.

Ride the Lightning is incredible.

Well, you kind of see it the way I do.

I dont really get going to much with "The Thing That Should Not Be" or "Welcome Home" either. They are still good songs, but just not like the others. I bet if they were on any other album, I would like them more.

"Orion" is a good instrumental. I prefer "The Call of Ktulu" or the almost instrumental "To Live Is To Die."

Overall, that album is indeed the best I've ever listened to.

The standout songs were Master of Puppets and Disposable Heroes (duhrr), Battery, and Leper Messiah. I suppose the only surprising one of those was Battery. I loved it, and I thought the lyrics were not only deeper than they're deciphered as, but some of the best I've ever seen.

And Damage, Inc. didn't disappoint, either lol. I wasn't expecting it to be the best, but I thought it would be pretty good, and it was.

The only 2 I didn't love were The Thing That Should Not Be (which is what?) and Welcome Home (Sanitarium).

Hey I mentioned the other 7, might as well talk about Orion. Very good instrumental.

I had an idea that would make it easier to figure out the Top 20 bands: We would go decade by decade and then from there take the best bands out of there and move them into the top 20. I think that's a little confusing and would be a lot of work though.

My view of it is: That is a horrible thing to do. Give credit to where it is due. Is Zeppelin still a great band? Of course they are. What they still did was wrong. You can not defend them taking credit for other peoples songs. They finally gave the blues and folk guys credit after they sued Zeppelin for the rights, which was the right thing to do. I don't think it is a huge deal, but it was a bit surprising to hear that. And RIP, how can you say they were horrible writers when Zeppelin used the same lyrics? With that said, they are still Led Zeppelin. The rock and roll legends. Just alittle disappointing to me.

Zeppelin may have taken these songs, but the writers should be happy that they did because if Zeppelin didn't, no one would ever have heard of these horrible songs by these horrible writers that Led Zeppelin made into rock classics.

I know they claim Led Zeppelin "stole" songs, but the wording is a lot stronger than the crime. It's true they did some remakes of old blues songs, and didn't credit the original, but I think they eventually gave them credit. They are still the best band ever.

I classify them as experimental because they haven't used standard guitar tuning on an album since 1981, and I classify really, really bad bands as alternative a lot of times.

lol well here's some info on my bands: Sonic Youth's last album in 2006 was rated the third best album of the year by Rolling Stone and 22nd by Spin.

I found a few lists done by VH1 over the years, both on Top 100 Rock Artists, and The Doors showed up in the Top 35 in both. (20th and 32nd)

To answer your question: I'm not into death metal or anything like that, but I'm really into hard rock and heavy metal. Just to give you an example of each, I really love Chevelle Disturbed.

As for rap. Not really into it. Sure, there are a couple of song here and there that I like, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.

I forgot that on Saturday night I went to the Rock n Roll Camp for Girls Session 2 Showcase in Portland, OR. There were some amazing people there. My sister went and here band played and was awesome. DJTG, ALL rap is horrible. It takes next to none talent wise. It lacks any depth and is garbage. Every rap song is about the following: Sex, Crime, Drugs, and Money. Thats it. Throw in the occational up lifting song and youve got a rap album. Then the videos are pathetic. No creativity. Just a few thugs holding money and covered in gold chains "talking" with a beat in the background, & a few half naked women. Garbage.

Rock has songs about Sex, Drugs, and Money to. But atleast rock artists throw in some songs about life and politics. And have creative videos. Oh, and one of the most vital parts, they actually sing.

Hey classic rock fans, I just saw a let freedom rock fest, hosted by mgk, in Camden right near Philly. Kanasas was the main act and they had fireworks but it poured. It was fun though. It was live and they had the mgk cast there broad casting and everything.

Its all about what people like to listen to. Some love P-Floyd. You love The Doors. I love AC/DC, others love Zeppelin. There cant really ever be a #1 that people can agree on.

Another example of an overall great album. Master of Puppets gave us: Master of Puppets, Disposable Heroes, Leper Messiah, Damage Inc., Orion. In the metal world, Master of Puppets is the greatest album, because the album had great song after great song.

I may be an avid AC/DC fan, but I'll just go for them. The Back in Black album had 3 of the most well known and loved rock songs ever, Hells Bells, Back In Black, and You Shook Me All Night Long. Then of course everybody loved Shoot to Thrill. Thats 4 huge hits on one album. Thats 3 songs that can be said to be some of the greatest rock songs ever. Cant deny that the album was a masterpiece.
