FRISCO, Texas - An overflow sellout crowd of 21,020 turned out to see David Beckham, but Kenny Cooper stole the show.

The FC Dallas star scored two goals in two minutes on the way to a 4-0 victory over Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night.

Cooper matched his career high of 11 goals and moved within one of the MLS lead. He has five in his last six games.

Cooper had multiple chances at a hat trick, ringing one off the crossbar in the 85th minute.

Dominic Oduro scored a goal and an assist while Abe Thompson also struck for Dallas. Goalkeeper Dario Sala made two saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

The four-goal outburst was the most for Dallas since a 4-0 win over New England on May 20, 2006. They took 25 shots and put 11 on net, both season highs.

After Los Angeles routed them 5-1 here back on May 18, Dallas returned the favour, snapping a four-game winless streak and giving new head coach Schellas Hyndman his first MLS victory.

FC Dallas (5-6-7) moved into a tie for fourth place in the Western Conference, while the Galaxy (6-7-5), now winless in their last six (0-3-3), remain second in the West, missing an opportunity to move past idle Real Salt Lake into first.

Dallas opened the scoring for the first time since June 15 (a span of five MLS games) in the 15th minute, when Cooper made a nice move to cut into the middle about 20 yards out and launched an off-balance left-foot shot that bounced past diving LA goalkeeper Steve Cronin.

In the 17th, Cooper stole the ball from defender Eduardo Dominguez, making his MLS debut, and raced in on a two-on-one with Oduro, before rolling a shot from 20 yards out just inside the left post.

Oduro then put Dallas ahead by three in the 36th minute, when he chased down a lead pass from Arturo Alvarez and sped in on a breakaway, faking out Cronin and depositing it into the empty net for his fifth goal of the season.

It was just the second time this season Dallas scored three in a game, and the first time they scored three times in the first half since May 20, 2006.

Dallas almost made it four just after halftime, as Oduro blasted a shot from 15 yards off the underside of the crossbar. Cronin then made a nice save on Cooper's header off the rebound.

The Galaxy's best opportunity to score came in the 71st minute when former Dallas star Carlos Ruiz's header, off Beckham's corner kick, struck the goalpost.

Thompson scored his third goal of the year in the 89th minute.

I created this group for fans of the Galaxy since there wasn't one. I won't be able to keep up with the Galaxy much since my priorities are the Official FSU Group. If anybody is interested in blogging and keeping us updated on the Galaxy, please let me know and I will make you Admin/Super-Member.
