NFL Draft Checkup-2001 Heisman Edition

Instead of going with the tired ol' one position, one draft idea, I went with the top 10 Heisman vote-getters in 2001.  This should be interesting.

David Carr/QB/Fresno State/2002/Round 1/Pick 1/Finished 5th in voting
Drafted By
: Houston Texans
Current Team: Carolina Panthers
Career Stats: 78 games, 13,602 passing yards, 59.3 completion %, 60 touchdowns, 66 interceptions, 1260 rushing yards, eight touchdowns
Career Analysis: Carr seemed to have it all.  Strong arm, pretty accurate, suitable speed.  He just didn't have the pocket presence necessary to win behind an inexperienced line.  I didn't put the sack numbers, but if I found them, they would have been high.  He set the sack record in a season.  That's the equivalent of the strikeout record.  It's an easy way to get cut, which did happen.  He's looking to revitalize his career in Carolina behind Jake Delhomme.

Julius Peppers/DE/North Carolina/2002/Round 1/Pick 2/Finished 10th in voting

NFL Draft Checkups - 2001 Quarterbacks

The 2001 quarterback class in the NFL was not regarded as a particularly strong one, with only one quarterback taken in the first round.  But wouldn't you like to know what happened to the rest?  Want to know what Michael Vick, Drew Brees, Quincy Carter, Marques Tuiasosopo, Chris Weinke, Sage Rosefels, Jesse Palmer, Mike McMahon, A.J. Feeley, Josh Booty, and Josh Heupel are to?  Well find out!

NFL Draft Check-Ups: 2000 WRs, Day One.

Third in a series by ballplayr9, but the group will put out several more.  The WRs drafted on Day One of the 2000 NFL Draft (Rounds 1,2, and 3)

Round 1:

#4: Peter Warrick, Bengals (now with Seahawks).  81 Games, 275 receptions, 2991 yards, 18 TDs, 2 return TDs.  Technically on Seattle's roster, but not one of top 5 WRs.  No game stats since 2005.  One of the big busts of the first round.

#8: Plaxico Burress, Steelers (with Giants since 2005).  102 G, 200 Rec, 6366 yds, 39 TDs.  Arguably the best WR from the draft.  Has an excellent 15.9 career yards per catch average.  Stats have suffered in NY due to inconsistencies at the QB position.
