Eagles vs. Steelers (Preseason Home Opener)

The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Philadelphia Eagles this friday night @ Heinz Field for their preseason home opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm EST & can be viewed on KDKA Pittsburgh/FSN.

After going through 10 days of intense training camp @ St. Vincent's College, this will be a chance for the veterans to strut their stuff & the rookies to show that they have what it takes to be considered a true "Man of Steel".

Davis Signs On The Dotted Line.....

The Pittsburgh Steelers added a new player to the "Men of Steel" by signing LB Bruce Davis to a 3 year deal today. Details of the contract were not disclosed.

Davis was a 3rd round choice in this years draft. He is 6'2" tall and weighs in @ 250lbs. He hails from UCLA, where he earned an All-Pac 10 first team & an All-American second team honors.  He is also ranked 2nd on the all time list of players @ UCLA for sacks w/ a total of 29 (Not too shabby...).

Steel Trims Roster By 4

The Pittsburgh Steelers released 4 players from their roster today, namely veteran RB Najeh Davenport.  Effectively reducing the number of players down to 82.

Davenport  served 2 years w/ the Steelers.  During that time, he rushed for a total of 763yrds w/ 7 TD's and 33 receptions. Having his most productive season last year when he was forced into the lime-light after Willie Parker was sidelined w/ a fractured leg prior to the playoffs..... (Your presence will be missed.....)

Sad Day:
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Dwight White, part of the Steel Curtain defense that led the team to four Super Bowl championships in the 1970s, has died following surgery at a Pittsburgh hospital. He was 58.

The team announced White's death Friday.

Team president Art Rooney II is calling White "an important member of the Steelers family."

Chairman Dan Rooney praised White's "relentlessness" on the field and his caring nature off it. Rooney noted White scored the team's first ever Super Bowl points in Super Bowl IX with a safety against Minnesota Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton.
Rashard is going to be a great addition to the Steelers can't wait
