How will good will BYU football be next season?

I think the Cougars will be decent. They will be great if Max Hall is great. If he is average, they'll be slightly above average. If he is poor, they will be average. I hate to say this, but I think TCU will win the conference, and BYU will battle Utah for second place. Realistically, I'd expect BYU to be making a trip to the Poinsettia or Armed Forces Bowl with a 6-2 conference record. The Cougars are helped in that this is the year in which the conference home schedule really favors BYU, with the tough MWC teams at home: TCU, Colorado State, Air Force and Utah. A good friend of mine is Tom Whitehead, a highly-sought after junior college player who is currently contemplating offers from Kansas, Utah, Boise State and Weber State. Remarkably, rather than just signing with Kansas like he should, Tom is considering BYU and hoping that Coach Rose, who traveled down to Arizona last week to watch Tom play, will offer him a scholarship.
