Is Greater Binghamton part of MetsNation or YankeesUniverse?
The Triple Cities of Binghamton, Johnson City, and Endicott have traditionally been dominated by Yankee fans. This may be due in large part to the minor league Triple Cities Triplets, a New York Yankees affiliate located in JC for many years.
However, the Double-A Binghamton Mets have been in town now for over 15 years. Does that mean a shift of allegiances may be going on? How long will it take?
My personal opinion is that the Yankee stronghold will continue here for a long time - fan allegiance is often passed on through generations, and it will take decades for an entire area to shift. I personally have no problem rooting for my hometown B-Mets as well as the major league Yankees.
