The Blues continued  their unlikely quest for a playoff spot, knocking off Calgary 3-2 Friday night with a 2 goal 3rd period comeback.   The Note now sits just 2 points out of the final playoff spot, with ten games to play.   There are 6 teams with between 74 and 79 points.....all vying for the last 2 playoff spots, so it is a tough road ahead.    The Blues have a critical three game homestand this week, with games against LA, Vancouver and Columbus.   The Blues will close out with 6 of 7 on the road, so these next three are mission critical.

The All-Star break may have hit at the wrong time for the St Louis Blues.  While the overall first half record of 19-23-4, good for last place in the Western Conference, may look bad, there are a number of positive signs to look forward to.   The Note finished a hot 5-2-1 in their last eight before the break, highlighted by road wins at Boston and Chicago in their last two.   This is great momentum heading into the second half, and team will definitely gain confidence through wins like that. The first half was really highlighted by two major factors, injuries and…

With Christmas approaching, there is not a very festive attitude surrounding the Blues. A five game losing streak has put a damper on what was a somewhat promising start to the season. The Blues started the season well, winning four of their first five games. After a bit of a slump that took them three games under .500, they rebounded with a hot streak that took them back over the .500 mark a couple of weeks ago.  Throughout the season, the Blues have competed hard, played well on special teams, and been in most of their games, win or lose.  During the current 5 game slide,…

Don't panic guys, I know its tough, the Bruins are in the same boat they gave up 4 goals in 3 games yet failed to win any of them games, the goals will come

Another close loss in OT, with an MIA Blues offense.

As long a they play good defensive hockey the goals will come

I agree with you on the up and down thing.....the Blues need to find some consistency night to night. I believe it is part of the youth program and they are just going through the growing pains of learning to win consistently.

All of the young guys are off to pretty slow starts offensively....Berglund, Oshie, Backes, etc. I think once they pick it up a little, the Blues are going to be fine and make a nice push for a good playoff seed.

Up and Down...Up and Down

That seems to be the theme with the squad thus far. One game we're winning 5-0, next game we lose 4-1.

I can't say that I'm completely dissatisfied with the Blues this year though. Those two wins against Detroit to start the season are going to be huge later on. Our goaltending has also been pretty solid thus far (I really think that the presence of Conklin is going to do wonders for Mason down the stretch).

The loss of Steen and Oshie (for a bit at least) is going to sting the offense. I still think that we need a primetime scorer. Someone you can rely on to get the puck in the back of the net on a consistent basis. You can't bank on Ol' Walt leading you to a Cup with a team high 25 goals.

He's been pretty good so far......I haven't seen all their games, but he has been very active. The Blues got jobbed by the refs in the second period tonight, and Ott of Dallas was getting in everyone's face and he took a run at one of our d-men, and Keith went after him hard.

I've always thought Tkachuk was underrated and I think he's been a great Blue. Only strike against him was a couple of years ago when he came to camp totally out of shape and they suspended him.

Hey Rings, how is Keith playing have not seen a game yet this yr, I know he has some goals and points, but that could be misleading , I am in a huge debate here in Boston with a B's fan I say I would rather have Keith than Recchi and he says I am crazy, Am I the only person that realizes how good Keith is, never mind his scoring but his leadership, and physical play am I wrong here. is Keith still the leader he used to be
