It has been reported that Freddy Garcia had a cortisone shot before his last start ( the one he left early). Now let's see. His agent said he did, the Phillies said he did, Charlie Manuel at first said he didn't thnk so but then said yes he did.When asked yesterday (Sunday) if he did, Garcia said no he didn't. What makes this story more interesting is that Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Daily News wrote, that the day he was supposed to have had the shot, Hayes noticed a band-aid where he would have had the shot (arm). Good time to be a Phillie Fan. The Phillies sweep, Hamels wins his 7th to tie for the league lead and Howard hits 2 Home Runs and the Phillies are two games above .500. I feel a little bad, as happy as I am to see these wins and move closer to 2nd, I still see a weak bullpen, poor fundmentals, having said that, going into today, the phillies are only 6 1/2 games out of first and with today's win, two games out of 2nd place and at worse two games out of the wild card. 50 games into the season and looking good, who would have thought after that start, not me.

When do you the Phillies usa a relief pitcher to much? Good question but no good answers. Imagine you were Charlie Manuel and besides Myers coming out of the pen your options were very limited or none.Myers recently pitched in 4 of 5 games and two were nonsave situations. Since he has gone to the pen he has appeared in 17 of the Phillies 31 games . That would be over the course of a full season 86 games. Four of his last seven game have been for more than one inning. Over the course of a full season if assume that 20% of his games go more than one inning then he will…
