The Beautiful Game

Bayern Win
Wednesday's UEFA Cup Quarter Final match between Spanish minnows Getafe CF and German giants FC Bayern Munich will undoubtedly remembered as the greatest game of this years European tournament. In fact, this game may even go down as one of the greatest UEFA Cup games of all time. Simply put--it was that great.

Madrid is an internationally recognized football city. Real and Atletico Madrid are high caliber, top-class La Liga teams in the Spanish capital. But on Wednesday April 10th the only team that mattered in Madrid was Getafe CF. The team hailing from a Spanish suburb is not unknown in Spain but barely recognizable by most football fans.

What a Difference 10 Days Makes

It's been 10 days since my last Bayern post and I'm happy to announce that there are many exciting new developments happening for Germany's winningest team.

Where to begin? Ah yes... Jurgen Klinsmann.

One of the greatest strikers in German history and successful DFB coach is now coaching FC Bayern Munich. Former coach Der General--Ottmar Hitzfeld--will be moving on to greener, Swiss pasture's as the new coach of the Swiss national team. He has experience in the country as former coach of Grasshopper Club Zurich. Coaching a national team is a very prestigious placement but moving from Bayern to Switzerland has been called a step down by some. Regardless, I wish him well as he certainly turned things around for Bayern this season. The team lies in 1st in the league, dominant in UEFA and tearing through the DFB Cup. But back to Klinsmann.

Bayern Up to Speed

This being my first blog here I thought I would update the world on where FC Bayern is right now.

Bayern blasted out of the start of the Bundesliga season with 3 wins totalling 10 goals for and none against. The Reds continued their winning ways without losing a game until the 13th week. It appears that 13 has not been their lucky number as of late (leave of Ballack). The teams success has been mixed since week 13. Granted the team has not suffered another loss but a handful of draws with quesitonable Bunesliga clubs' like Duisburg, Berlin and Dortmund have the left the most successful club In german history exchaning the league leadership a few times.

well, we are prolly the EPL champs now. We'll see which club is the greatest in the CL next season. Lets hope we can beat Barca though. Bayern back in the CL is what Europe needs.

I see Rensing getting more and more time lately. With Kahn retiring Rensing is the natural fill in until a suitable, permanent keeper can be found. Boruc would be a neat choice since Poldi and Klose both speak Polish. Maybe the Polish coach wants Boruc there to lure Klose and Poldi to play for Poland. :)

Boruc just signed a 3 year extension with Celtic in January, but theres a lot of speculation that he's unhappy there and still wants out. Munich are on fire right now and Im sure it's a tempting oppritunity for Boruc
Boruc would be an interesting pick up. He's done well with Poland and Celtic and enjoyed marginal success at the last WC.

Rensing has been groomed for some time now but he's still back up status. I dunno where that could go.

I saw in the German press today that Klinsmann is looking at signing Artur Boruc. Michael Rensing must be pissed!
