Willis To Rehab With Mud Hens

DONTRELLE IN TOLEDO: Detroit Tiger's starting pitcher Dontrelle Willis will be making a rehab start with the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens tonight at 5/3 Field in Toledo. Willis hyperextended his knee on April 11. He will also be making a start for the Hens later in their homestand. I'll update this blog tomarrow with the results of tonights game against the Rochester Red Wings. UPDATE: Willis took the loss for the Hens last night, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up 4 hits, 2 ER, and striking out 4.

Tribute To 1968 World Champion Tigers

The West Michigan Whitecaps will be honoring the Detroit Tigers 1968 World Series Championship team on Friday May 2 when the 'Caps take on the Quad City River Bandits.

The Whitecaps and the River Bandits, a St. Louis Cardinals affilate, will be wearing the uniforms of their parent clubs during the game. The Tigers beat the Cardinals in 1968 to win the Series.

Whitecaps fans will also have the pleasure of meeting and getting autographs from members of the 1968 team. Mickey Lolich, John Hiller, and Gates Brown will all be on hand at 5/3 Ballpark. They'll be on the concourse signing autographs from approximately 6:30-7:30.  Starting pitcher Mickey Lolich was the MVP of the series, while Hiller was an ace reliever, and Brown a great pinch hitter.

Granderson Rehabs With The Whitecaps

Recovering from injury, Detroit Tigers center fielder Curtis Granderson played a rehab game with the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps. Granderson went 2-4 with a triple, but the effort was wasted as the 'Caps were beat 3-0 by the Burlington Bees. Justin Henry and Joe Tucker were the only other players to get a hit for West Michigan. Granderson tried to score, but was thrown out at home on a contact play. He will also be with the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens this weekend. A photo of Curtis can be seen in my images. I usually go to Omaha Royals games, KC Royals affiliate. Games played at the Legendary Rosenblatt stadium, where the CWS is played.
Happy Opening Day, everyone!

I'd like to hear from all minor league fans. Let me know what's special about your ballpark, and what prospects we should be keeping an eye out for. Even cool promotions that we'd like to see.
