Just So You Know

IrishR#1, the creator of this group, left The Pool. I'm too busy to score, and I really don't care because I know I did terrible with my bracket. If anyone else wants to score, go for it, but this group is going nowhere so I'm going to leave.

See ya next March.

He Hate Me

Wow.  I must have done something to the committee.  Did I bump into them and not say excuse me yesterday?  Have I wronged them in some way?

That is the only explanation for Butler's seed.  A seven.  That means Purdue, USC (11 losses), and Oklahoma (double-digit losses) are better than them in the committee's mind.  Butler should have been a five seed.  The tourney committee obviously doesn't have any hometown bias.  There is no Indiana team with a seed 4 or better.  All of the teams were ranked, however.

Blind Man's Bubble

Some teams are going to get in the tournament on names alone.   I will use the same stats for each team-record, conference record, RPI, record v. RPI Top 50, losses to teams with sub-200 RPI, road-neutral record, SOS.

Team A
19-12, 9-7 conference record, 59 RPI, 0-6 v. Top 50, no losses to sub-200 RPI teams, 6-10 away from home, 52 SOS

Team B
20-12, 9-9 conference record, 51 RPI, 3-7 v. Top 50, 1 loss to sub-200 RPI teams, 8-9 away from home, 43 SOS

Who's the better team?  Team B has more wins, but Team A is better in conference.  Team B has a better RPI and is better against the Top 50.  Team B has a terrible loss, however.  Team B looks like the better team.

Team B is Villanova and Team A is Virginia Tech.  I'd say that these are the two most interesting teams.  They are both stuck on the bubble.  It looks like Villanova would get the last spot if it comes down to these two.

Now, let's take a look at a team that is in and teams that supposedly have no chance to get in.

Team A

Yeah, I know it wasn't me, but who won?
So who won?
yesterday was the worst UConn game i have ever seen. ever. in 21 years. i've never been more embarassed to root for the Huskies. uninspired, careless, selfish, horrible basketball.
I've got Arizona State in the poll with Virginia Tech nipping at their heels.

Butler got crapped over by the selection committee big time. The fans have a right to be mad. Before, they had a chance at the Elite 8, but with their seed they probably won't make it past the second round.

Washington State is incredibly overrated. And I can only wonder how much juice Pitt has left after that incredible run in the Big East tourney.

Wow, IrishR#1, this is going to take a lot of work. Thanks for doing it, though. Maybe should have just formed a private group on the Seth Davis bracket challenge?
The teams that have had the most success in the tournament have done well in their conference tournaments. I do expect that to end, however, with all of the upsets.

Pitt was ranked too high, they got their ranking solely off their 2 Gtown wins
