I don't mean to go off on a rant here, but what exactly has Obama done to win the Nobel Peace Prize? As I sit here and listen to his speech, he has taken credit for ending the War in Iraq...answer me this question: is there still not troops in Iraq? and are these troops still not fighting against rebels? If you answer yes to either question, then the war is not over. Also, don't think that everybody is happy as you Liberals may be. 9 months in office apparently qualifies somebody to win a nobel prize, so were was George Bush's? I'm pretty sure he wasn't involved in a war for his first 9…

$1 Trillion, no wait, $3 Trillion, ok, maybe $8 Trillion. The numbers are mind boggling both in size and in inconsistency. Money that doesn't exist and we have no way to procure. Hell, most of us don't comprehend how much money that even is. $8,000,000,000,000 And what do we need all of those dollars for? To "fix" the greatest healthcare system on planet earth.Quit laughing and turn off CNN. The claims are ridiculous and they are being eaten up by the populace who believe in a problem that doesn't even exist. Folks, there IS NO healthcare crisis and never was. Not in the United…

Nah, I don't want a new car subsidized by the tax payer, I want to trade in my representatives for whatever I can get. Nancy Pelosi, our brilliant speaker of the house, announced how successful the "cash for clunkers" program has been. -And she's right-The Federal Government was extremely successful at giving away a Billion tax payer dollars in little more than a week. Once upon a time, that was a remarkable achievement on capital hill. These days, when true success is measured in giving away trillions of dollars, Ms. Pelosi isn't satisfied. She's been SO good at giving away your…

Change is in the air: Virgina has a new governor from the Grand Old Party.
Also, if Obama really wanted kids to learn more, then he shouldn't have gone on tv a month ago during the school day and encouraged school districts to take time away from Math and Science so the children can watch him talk.

In addition, America was once the leader in education. You know what subjects they taught back then? Writing, Math, Science, History, and the Arts (music, psychology, gym, etc). I have a simple solution to increase the grades: make learning a foreign language optional. Allow the high school kids to select what classes to take (with the exception of the main 4 - math, writing, science, history) rather than telling them what to take. Then, especially at high school, they can prepare themselves for their next step in life, whether it be college, the military, or a full-time job.

There is my proposal for increasing test scores in America, and look, it doesn't require an extended school day or going to school on Saturdays. If kids are interested in what they are learning, then they will stay out of trouble...simple as that.
oldpro1225 - How is the government going to pay for an extended school day in the first place? Teacher's salaries are going to have be raised, which means increasing taxes.

Secondly, everybody learns in different ways. Will an extended school day help some children? Yes, because they need to hear it from somebody to learn. What about the other children who learn better by reading on their own? An extended school day is going to do them harm.
God must love stupid people, He made so many of them. The President encouraging children to study hard, stay in school, and have aspirations to be a contributing member of American society is really a bad thing isn't it. You people are pathetic.

I guess he's TRYING to send a good message, but I believe he's just trying to become more popular with the youth of America. I don't really think the President has much influence on kids (since most don't care much about politics), so I think at the end of the day, he's just wasting class time.
