Veronica was born on December 8,
1980 in La Jolla, California. She began her athletic career as a child
in ballet class. From there it was on to soccer, volleyball and field hockey, but eventually her passions were narrowed to surfing and volleyball. Since her mother didn't have
the money or the transportation for Veronica to pursue volleyball, she
had to give it up eventually. However, the family lived just a
two-minute walk from the beach, so her decision about which sport to

Kabayeva is a rythmic gymnast who is world renowned for her incredible
flexibility. I imagine the flexibility comes in handy. Um, for the
gymnastics.
 She is Russia's most successful rhythmic gymnast to date, and is also
one of the most decorated gymnasts in the history of rhythmic
