Malik Sealy

On today's NBA Truth and Rumors page is an article describing how Kevin Garnett honors the memory of late St. John's player Malik Sealy. On May 20 2000, Malik lost his life when he was coming home from a birthday party for Kevin Garnett. The 30 year old Sealy was hit by a drunk driver, who was driving the wrong way on a freeway entrance ramp. Garnett, has honored Sealy by tattoo on his arms, and he embraces Cleveland Cavalier Joe Smith who was also a teammate of Sealy's with the Timberwolves and also has a tattoo of Sealy on his arm.

Mark Jackson?

Now, that the Knicks have decided to hire Mike D'Antoni as their head coach, please allow me to start the Mark Jackson for St. John's Head Coach Campaign. Much has been made of Mark not having experience as a head coach. However, on the college level that point is moot. Although, he didn't have that much success I can relate Mark as the Red Storm Coach to Clyde Drexler, when he took over his alma mater the University of Houston a few years ago. In any case I think it is imperative that the powers at be at Saint John's University look to bring the last remnant of their glory years, home.

Finally Some Good News

Today St. John's signed Shooting Guard Quincy Roberts to a scholarship. The 6 foot 5 inch guard was recently committed to the University of Miami, but after re-evaluating his situation chose the Red Storm over the Temple Owls and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Pennsylvania native led his high school, Harrisburg High, to the Sweet 16 in their State tournament and averaged 19 points last season.

After losing two players to transfer last week, and nine transfers during the Norm Roberts era, it's good to finally receive some good news. Hopefully Quincy is the catalyst that this team sorely needs in our quest back to respectability in the Big East Conference.
