NFL  > Philadelphia Eagles  > Congrats Sean McDermott...the new Eagles D coordinator

First off...I'm sad to see that It has finally been made official (not that we all figured it wouldn't). Jim Johnson has been a vital and valuable part of the machine that has been the Eagles defense for the last decade. Please get well, and thank you for the footprint you have left in Eagles history, and the NFL.
Congratulation's to Sean McDermott who has been a member of this coaching staff for some time now, and has climbed the ladder to reach the position he has worked so hard to be in. Being that he has held numerous coaching positions on this team under the watchful eye of Coach Reid and Jim Johnson, can be a positive platform for him to succeed. McDermott is well versed in J.J.'s scheme and philosophy, and all the players know him well.
Although he wont be a carbon copy of Johnson, he basically should be running the same scheme with some wrinkles of his own. The X's and O's part of it I'm sure he has a good grasp on, but it was the instinctive play calling during games, and the creation of disguises and blitzing that separated Jim Johnson from most defensive coordinators.
So good luck to both men, one who has been a fixture with this organization, and mentor to so many...and one who is about to make his own footprint, and who has the utmost confidence and support from J.J. himself, and Coach Reid.
