It truly is a sad day Eagle fans. I was really pulling for him to beat this, and to be honest ...even though I knew the severity of the situation he was in...I was shocked to see the bad news as I refreshed my page for more updated info on camp. Jim Johnson has been amazing over his time with the Eagles. My thoughts and prayers also go out to Jim's family, and the Eagles organization. As a fan, I always looked forward to how you were going to attack the opposing teams offense each and every Sunday. Thank you for everything you have given this football team, and fans like myself. In time...you will no doubt be recognized as one of the best NFL defensive coaches ever. I am really going to miss you.

Very sad news. Although his body of work in football is incredible, I will always remember how he coached the Eagles' defense to gritty toughness, and particularly their absolute shutdown of the Cowboys on the last game of the regular season (2008-2009). He was a defensive scheming genius.

Pats fan here . . . but more importantly a fan of people in sports that give it everything they've got ( and aren't afraid to lose )
Jim Johnson epitamized this creed .
( Dick LaBeau is probably the only other D coach that comes close )

R I P JIM JOHNSON . . .I'll now be pullin' for Philly to win the NFC
( and the SB too if the Pats can't )

His legacy is incredible. 26 Pro Bowl selections, 5 NFC Championship Games, 1 Super Bowl and a top 10 defense since he arrived in Philadelphia. Andy said it best when he said the success enjoyed in Philadelphia wouldn't have been possible without Jim Johnson. Plus, he's spawned a slew of coordinators and head coaches as well. Spags, Rivera, Harbaugh and others. Men of this quality don't come often. The Eagles have a reasonably balanced roster going into this training camp, and now they have battle cry. Look out league, this could be our year. My thoughts and prayers are with Vicki and the kids that their grief may morph into pride of having spent some time with a truly decent man.

We lost one of the best in JJ I hope his family is handling this tribulation the right way. My thoughts and prayers are with them. The Eagles D wouldn't be what it is without him, and now the Eagles D owes JJ to be the best this is the year the Eagles have to go all the way its time to give JJ what he deserved a ring

Cowboys fan here. The loss of Jim Johson and Brian Dawkins will be a real kick in the teeth to the Eagles Defense this year. When the Boys and Eagles meet, it won't be the same without the 2. Jim Johnson and Tom Landry will be butting head on the big field above. My prayers and sympathy to the Johnson family, Eagles organization,, players. ex players, and friends of his, as well as all Eagles fans. RIP Mr. Johnson.

As a life long Cowboys fan, I would normally be thrilled about anything which could cripple the iggles but not this time. We have lost a true sports icon in the passing of Jim Johnson. R.I.P.

To bad he was a Seagull...his career would have been that much better if it was a team that won.
