MLB  > General MLB  > Red Sox: Halladay or Bust
July 29, 2009, 11:40 PM
The Red Sox need to make a push these next few days to get Halladay, because John Smoltz, Buccholz, and Brad Penny ust aren't cutting it. The Sox can almost guarantee a win when Beckett pitches, and I can almost say the same about Lester. But Halladay would put them over the top. Imagine the Red Sox with the following rotation all injuries aside.

Roy Halladay
Josh Beckett
Jon Lester
Tim Wakefield*
Dice-K*

With this rotation, as long as they make the postseason, they can almost guarantee two straight wins with Halladay and Beckett on the hill. Halladay is a true classic pitcher who goes the whole 9 innings almost everytime he's on the mound. The Sox need to get him to ensure that they remain in the race for the division title, and for the wild card.
