NBA  > New Jersey Nets  > How are the Nets going to look this year.
August 3, 2009, 06:34 PM
I think the Nets are going to suprise the NBA this year, I hope so at least. With Devin Harris and Lee in the back court, they are going to be fast and a good scoring pair. I think the front court is okay. Brook Lobez is a stud and he is going to be awesome. I hope Terrence Williams becomes the starting small foward and I hope he turns out real good, but even if he doesn't Jarvis Hayes will be pretty good. Im really hoping Yi gets betting because he didn't do good last season after he was injured. The bench is pretty good with either Hayes or T Williams coming off (Who ever doesn't start), Simmons, Dooling, Alston, Boone, Sean Williams, and Tony Battie. I think that the bench will be solid and I'm looking foward to seeing how we do with Harris, Dooling, and Alston, three great point guards playing on the same team, hopefully it is postitive and no one becomes a bench warmer and wants a trade. Tell me what you guys think about the Nets for this season.

Brando, I'm a Nets fan, and I'm not nearly as optimistic as you are. I like the direction of our organization in comparison to the Tri-State rival Knicks, but that's not really saying much. Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, and Courtney Lee are nice pieces for the franchise, but I can't see any way we make the playoffs this upcoming season.

If we make a splash in 2010 free agency, then we may have something to get excited about. Until then, we're likely a bottom 10 team.

I honestly do agree with you about the nets. I love the nets so i am going to be optimistic about the future with them for sure. Hopefully they arn't the worst team in the nba for sure. If they keep this main roster an add another good rookie next and/or a superstar player in the 2010 summer, I think they will be a pretty good team. Courtney Lee is also on a team where he needs to score and he did average 20 ppg in his last year of college and I know it is college but he could turn out to be a good scorer for us. Also Terrence Williams may turn out good and Yi Janlian may improve this summer, I heard that he has. So even though the Nets are not looking good this year, the year after I think they will be a pretty good team if everybody keeps developing.

Courtney Lee is a stud he very athletic a good shooter a decent defender.

Devin Harris is gonna be a BEAST this year. A BEAST! And I'm Chinese, so I also hope Yi improves. He's the only active Chinese player now that Yao is out for the year and Sun is a FA.

Before the draft, they said Yi was a combo of Iverson and KG. I guess at the time, I didn't know they meant KG's dribbling and AI's rebounding.

Lol well put. Yi was horrific after coming back from injury toward the latter portion of the '08-09 season. He's so soft. It's painful.

Ya I really hope Yi gets stronger and developes and becomes some what of the player he was predicted to be. He has great size and can shoot so that can really help the nets and Devin Harris and Lee are going to be awesome.

All I know is they will be contenders NEXT year. With all that cap space and young talent at bargain prices, they could be really good in a year or so.

Not next season though...

And he is an upgrade over VC. Carter is getting older and does not play any defense. As soon as Lee becomes a little more offensively consistent then he will be a star.

August 10, 2009  07:02 PM ET

I think Lee will actually be very good on the offensive end. If you think about it, his role wasn't to score in Orlando. They had Turk, Lewis, Howard, Nelson (before he was injured), and even peitrus at times. I think his role in Jersey will be to be more of a offensive threat.

U are right during the Philly series last year Turk and Lewis came into the series banged up and were not playing up to par. It was Courtney Lee that carried this team offensively through alot of those games in that series. I think Lee was just about to turn the corner and take his game to another level b4 his nose was broken.

Let's get real. This is a last place team and I root for them. With no Carter, Harris draws double teams. On a team with no true power forward, I can't believe Ryan Anderson was part of the VC deal. Let the season begin and let contenders deal with injuries. Then let them come to the Nets for pieces like Dooling or Boone, etc. If the Nets play it right, they look to accumulate draft picks and perhaps a young player or two without adding salary. Alston could be valuable if they can get back a young player or a pick without damaging the cap next year. With 2 first round picks including an unprotected one from Dallas plus the ability to add salary, we'll talk again in 2010/11. For 2010, just favor the young guys including Sean Williams, minutes wise.

Nets will be lucky to win 30 this year. I hear ping pong balls rolling around somewhere near Camden.

Frank is still the coach..

September 17, 2009  04:15 PM ET

With Lawrence (The Lame Duck) Frank coaching misfits like Sean Williams and Josh Boone and not knowing how to use Chris Douglas-Roberts or Terrence Williams, the forecast is bleak for the NETS.. The good news is that the NETS should have plenty of ping-pong balls in the lottery and Frank will be gone by season's end.. Hope the teams is sold. Maybe even moving to Seattle instead of Brooklyn..

If the team plays well together they could be 10th or 9th

September 18, 2009  05:48 PM ET

HAHA, if the grizzlies played well together they'd be in the playoffs, but wonder if that's going to happen

September 18, 2009  08:38 PM ET

Grizzlies are actually a gd team
Iverson, Gay, O.J., RAndolph, Thabeet, Gasol, Conley...
