NFL  > Cleveland Browns  > The 1st preseason game performance
August 16, 2009, 03:44 PM
First, lets put things in perspective. The Packers had the 20th ranked defense last year, next weeks Lions were 32nd ( Browns were 26th). Packers had the 8th best offense while Detroit was 30th. just ahead of the Browns.

Mangini gave Ratliff ample time to show something. He was not outstanding, but he did outperform DA. There is just nothing positive I can say about DA's performance. He is more apt to pass into tight, ill advised situations in an attempt to make the big play. Quin showed he is very effective with a dink and dunk offense in the open field. Once the field gets constricted and congested in the red zone, it becomes apparent he needs a lot of practice in these situations.

Edwards should have caught that pass. The ball was thrown out in front where he had plenty of room to make a play. The following play reminded me of last years antics where the QB's (all of them) felt they had to put it in his gut for him to catch it. This leads to Braylon being a sitting target, and a nervous receiver is not going to catch a lot of passes.

The Defense looked off balance the whole game. I think they need "3 a days". The bright spot is that several of the players, especially the rookies played very well. This is showing we are progressing and moving in the right direction.

My previous post had someone commenting that I just wanted a bunch of cheerleaders with pom-poms. No, I just think we need to show them support and let them grow as a team. .........Stick With It..............
