Golf  > General Golf  > Yang denies Tiger
August 18, 2009, 04:12 PM
Sunday...in the golf world...we saw David beat Goliath. In an amazing showing of strength and perseverance Y.E Yang drowned Tiger Wood???s major dreams in an amazing round with highlights galore. So what do we owe the amazing upset dealt on the final round of the 91st U.S Open to?
Do we owe it to a conservative Tiger that laid up shots used to make him hungry to grab his fairway woods? Was it a laid back Yang that feared neither the course that demolished golfers throughout the day nor Woods that demolished those same golfers in the past? Could it have been the kiss of death eagle chip shot on the 14th hole that lifted Yang to the leader spot and left him never looking back? Was it Wood???s lack of judgment with the flat stick that left him dumbfounded when birdie putts did not fall? Or, was it simply Yang???s great confidence.
We saw Yang having ???fun??? on Sunday???s monumental round of golf. Having fun being in the final pairing with Woods is like having fun in a lion???s den, but as spectators, we never saw the smile on Yang???s face dissipate. Even with the storm that is Tiger Woods pressing down upon him, Yang pushed through the clouds and found himself to the winner???s circle. Whatever we owe the victory that will forever be remembered to, one thing is certain. Yang became the first Asian born to win a Major, and he could not have done it in a memorable way. Congratulations man from Korea. Congratulations indeed.
