NFL  > Minnesota Vikings  > Will Favre ever retire?
August 18, 2009, 04:12 PM
I'm a Vikings fan but when will it end! Im beginning to think Favre will never retire...
August 29, 2009  12:55 PM ET

He will........just give him another.....oh.............3 or 4 years. He still has the Lions to court and woo yet.

August 29, 2009  12:59 PM ET

Next year, 2010, he'll be replacing Cutler with the Bears, at least for one year.

Then in 2011, He'll be trying the teams in the NFC South. Then on from there.

Going by that formula, one year with each team, he'll retire in.........30 years, counting this one with the Vikes.

October 26, 2009  12:28 AM ET

He already has....he just hasnt realized it yet that his reign is over....I venture to say that if they dont make the Super Bowl this year.....and I doubt they will he will finally realize hes done! Love to see the Vikings win A Super Bowl...just not with Favre after what he did to the Packers...and fans.

October 26, 2009  04:35 AM ET

bretts gonna make another $12 mill. [minn.] next year !............would you retire !!

October 26, 2009  09:13 AM ET

no, he'll play untill the league tells him to for his safety, or he cant walk

October 26, 2009  11:38 AM ET

Well he's obviously looking to get one more Superbowl before calling it quits. It can potentially happen this year, and actually I'd say he has a reasonable shot. If they fall short this year, I say Favre attempts one more comeback.

Thats the way to do it, Favre is a warrior...

They need to get over themselves and thinking Favre STILL owes them something....

October 26, 2009  12:09 PM ET

I hope he doesn't. He's a LOT of fun to watch and has the talent to still be on the field.

Think about that for a moment...

Young college kids come out highly touted...like Matt Lienart...and can't cut it. Farve is old enough that some of these guys could be his kids and he's still putting up amazing numbers. This could be his best season ever.

I'm convinced that, where you and I see a multimillion dollar stadium, Brett sees a sandlot.

would the vikings be 6-1 without Brett? No. Stop hating Favre just cause you can't be him.

October 26, 2009  06:40 PM ET

Favre will Retire when he joins AARP.
oh he already did?
oh,well..........................................
at least there undeafeated.
oh there not?
who could beat The Vikings?

i've said that about 3 times now!

not entirely sure favre is the reason vikes are 6-1... that's giving him a huge amount of credit for a pretty good team already. i am sure he's the reason they lost sunday. brett is fun to watch, especially at 40. but, as the season wears on.... it's going to wear on his 40 yr old body. expect more endings like yesterday from favre.... just ask the jets.

I ask myself...WHY!!! Why do I ready the stuff Favre haters put in here. I want to believe there are knowledgable Football people on this site, but cripes!? Does anyone realize what he does for Football?? The QB's you're watching are machines programmed to act and preform text book material. He's the last QB you will ever see do what he does. Romo & Cutler try, but they're no Favres. Those 2 will be obsolete soon enough bc of the direction Footballs moving in. Just enjoy him and this game while you can.

Last time I checked, the Packers were forcing Brett out and THEY TRADED him to the Jets...the Pack deserved what they got... so don't talk about what he did to the Packers. I can see where the fans come in but the Pack organization did this to themselves

November 3, 2009  09:21 AM ET

When will he retire? Ask any real Viking's fan at this point if they want him to retire. His skills don't look like they have taken a real "hit" at this point, do they? I can only say that the Vikes have had some quarterbacks in the past that I WISHED would retire. I am not wishing that at this point.

By they way, statistically (not to mention realistically), with whom do you replace him?

November 6, 2009  11:00 PM ET

Why would any Viking fan even ask such a stupid question? Idiot!

November 7, 2009  12:26 PM ET

I'm surprised by how well he's been playing... a lot of it has to do with how well his O-line is protecting him. If he was playing with the Pack's current O-line, his consecutive games streak would probably be broken. As long as they continue to protect him, the Vikes should win the NFC North.
