NFL  > New Orleans Saints  > THE THIRD RUNNINGBACK
August 27, 2009, 09:34 PM
I just have one comment ant that is one the running game.

Last year the Saints added Pierre Thomas. I had noticed from the start that he good ruuningback, maybe even better then Reggie Bush. I just knew by the he ran that by the end of season he would have the starting position.

Now the have Mike Bell. Yes, it was only one game and a preseason game at that. But Brees thinks that Bell might be the MVP of the training camp. If Bell keeps it up (and I think he will), he will be backfield more than Reggie Bush by seasons end.

The Saints just need one more quality back if Bell works out. They might even already have it with that Herb Donaldson. He just needs playing time. He might get it this week against the Raiders.

Reggie might not play, AGAIN.

Reggie Bush has only made 10 out of 26 practices. That isn't many. He has missed them because one thing or another. He is injury prone.

Reggie Bush is in last year of contract. He really hasn't shown much so far. He better have a fantastic year or he might be gone.

Could you imagine how money the Saints can save by gettting rid of Reggie Bush. They could even for that quailty back that they need so much.

What do you mean reggie hasn shown much, one of our leading scorers isn good enough for you. And I know we wont get rid of him anytime soon. I admit hes not an awsome running back, but if we moved him to slot tht would be awsome. Yea i know i say the same thing on evry post about reggie hahaha

But anyways i agree with you about mike bell, except i dont know if he will be better than thomas. but if he plays like he did the other day, then yea he wolud be the best running back on our team. He averaged like 11 yards a play literally. I think our running game problem is solved though.

The threatening thing about Bush is not his ability to run between the tackles every down, it is his speed and ability to make people miss. Run him outside, throw it to him in the flat or on a hitch and he's dynamite. That is where he's an x-factor because the defense has to keep thinking about Bush in open field. He gets bogged down and ineffective whenever he has to consistently run as if he were a power back. If Peyton and Brees keeps mixing it up with the offense, there's no doubt that Bush will make a huge impact.

I'll admit, I wish that Bush could do more everytime that he touches the ball, but who can blame me. I'd like to see magic every time the Saints take the field. The things is that Bush's presence on the field makes defenses take notice, and that is an asset that I think we should hold on to.
