I was just kidding in my first post. Well, after winning the NC at the end of 2009, we have to be in the top 2, at least.

Using SI covers as a proxy (or an example of blatant media bias, depending on your point of view):

Notre Dame 30 covers
Ohio State 29
Oklahoma 29
Texas 28
USC 28
Alabama 22
Florida 21
Michigan 18
Nebraska 17
Penn State 12
UTk 7

I'd say Alabama 1, USC 2. Everybody after that isn't close.

Here was the list:

1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Notre Dame
4. USC

From 2009 and 2010 USC and PSU have gone down a bit, MICH and TENN down a lot. tOSU will soon go down a lot. Not sure if anyone has had it so rough that they need the boot from the top 10 (replace TENN with UF or LSU maybe). If ND can't break out into a BCS bowl under Kelly by 2013 they need to drop to 6th or 7th.

Forgot about FSU, another TENN replacement candidate.

I think every school has cheated at some point...and, if you dig deep enough, can probably find something current......

I think Penn State (and maybe Stanford) are the only NCAAF teams to never have a major infraction.

Maybe, but its hard to think of any at Army, Navy, or the AFA.

IMHO...just means they haven't dug deep enough.

They were the number one team in the WWII period. So it seems possible something unseemly may have occurred to get a player two. Fairly unlikely, but possible.

During WWII there would a lot of guys wanting to join and play for them while inthe school....

Seems it was more of an issue with Army Honor Code than NCAA rules.
