NHL  > General NHL  > Heatley for Kessel Trade
September 7, 2009, 11:46 AM
Doesn't it make sense (aside from the whole division rivals thing) ?

Kessel has serious potential, and it doesn't seem as if the Bruins are keen on giving him a huge pay day.

The Sens are actively shopping Dany Boy now, too. Why not kill two birds with one stone? Why not let them compete against their former teammates eight games a year?

It would be a great storyline, and being a Bruins fan in Ottawa it would make the four games I see that much more entertaining while taking my mind off the fortune I am paying for beer at Scotiabank Place.

Savard and Heatley could get 100+ points each on the same line. The Bruins haven't had a legitimate sniper since Glen Murray...and Dany would be a massive upgrade from Iron Skates Murray.

How do you think it could happen? It's obvious Brian Murray wants a lot in return or he'll wait til the 09-10 trade deadline.

A) Does Boston have the Cap space to pull off such a deal

B) Why would a team that did so well last year in the regular season want a locker room cancer like Heatley?

why do the bruins want an older version of kessel?

September 8, 2009  07:17 PM ET

why do you want Bodnarchuk he is nothing special

Nah, Kessel is a talented scorer, but contributes nothing on D. Plus, with his size, he's worn down by the end of the year.

The only reason Boston moved Phil Kessel is because of the salary cap. He is obviously one of their best players. I really wish they had kept Kessel an moved Ryder or someone else.

The only reason Tim Thomas is that good is that Bob Essesna is his goalie coach.

Tim Thomas has been good for ten years now. Long before bob Essensa became his goalie coach.

An okay idea. But yea, the divisional rivals thing limits this trade from happening.
