NFL  > San Francisco 49ers  > What I saw from the first game.

Our offense needs help, wow, 25 yards rushing from a team that has spent all summer preaching the run first philosophy. The passing game was not as bad as it looked in my opinion we just couldn't get open. Hill wasted no time getting rid of the football when there was nobody open so I think that is why Hill was only 18-31, but no interceptions. Look to the Panthers game to see what the alternative could have been. We'll call the slack start on offense a combination of the Cards playing good defense and the 49ers being rusty from the off season.

Our defense was great, we gave up major yards on screen plays, but that was a product of the backfield covering the receivers and if you are going to sacrifice coverage you better not give Fitz or Boldin the open field. 40 yards rushing is good, but I won't brag too much because the Cards don't really focus on the run. What I was most impressed by was our ability to put pressure on the QB, we had only 3 sacks but there were a lot more plays than those 3 sacks that Warner was disrupted by. This is something to build on for our defense.

Overall I give the 49ers a B+ I am optimistic about this year, but this is just my view of this game alone, not saying we're going to light it up against every team we play.
