The Blues won their pre-season opener on Tuesday, beating Minnesota 3-1.

Paul Kariya scored the first pre-season goal for the Note, and Ben Bishop was very strong in goal, stopping 23 of 24 shots. He replaced Chris Mason half way through the game.

The game also marked the return of Erik Johnson to the ice.

The Note has now played 4 preseason games, winning the first two, losing one, and then losing in OT to Colorado in their latest game. Erik Johnson scored his first goal in the Colorado game.

The Blues trimmed the roster by 9 players to get down to the league mandated 30 yesterday. Most significantly, Steve Wagner was sent to Peoria as was erstwhile goaltender Hannu Toivenen, who played in Europe last season.
