Was anyone else as happy as I was when they read the article this morning that Theo Fleury had the game winning shootout goal last night? Sure, it was against the Islanders, and a preseason game, but it was his first game back after six years. Thanks to the lack of television broadcasting of preseason NHL games, I have absolutely no idea how well he played the rest of the game, but his name got the headlines. For those who grew up playing the first generation of NHL videogames on Sega and Playstation One, seeing Fleury back on the Flames is a trip back in time. Now Calgary just needs Gary Roberts back. Obviously I am joking, and that would not be a good idea, but what hockey fan from late 80's to early 90's would not love to see those two back together? I hope Theo makes the team this season, and at least is a useful role player for a season or two. And as for the this season, I will hope for the twentieth time that the Penguins and Flames meet in the Finals. Good luck to both teams, and to Theo.

Too bad his comeback bid fell short. I think Fleury playing even a limited roll this year with the Flames would have been great PR. At least he can say he tried.

I am from calgary he played great. and i am pissed at the organization he would deffinatly not be the worst player on are team. The flames should be ashamed of themself.They should have gave him a year to year contract. he was an outstanding player for are team for a lot of years.he got 4 points in for preseason games. He is the only player in the history of NHL to score a hatrick short handed. Wayne gretzky couldnt even do that. To bad fleury didnt go to another team he might have haunted calgary when it counted. Calgary still loves ya Fleury. The flames can kiss my ass. To bad i will still cheer for them. GO FLAMES GO YOU BUNCH OF **** RUNNING ARE TEAM

There was no way he was going to last 80 game let alone 20... Playing half tank in the preseason is one thing but a full tank reg season is another thing... For being out of the game for that long and the speed of the game today..There's no way he would have made it to November.

In that case they might as well make every player over 40 retire. he dont need to play every game. play him 40 50 games. He would have still done better then some players or are team. play him on spiecal teams play him in playoffs he would have been a fire under iggys ass. and i am getting sick off iggy not having that fire when he needs it. theo would have been the fire iggy needed. i believe

theo only came back to stir up his name....conveniently he was released the same week his book came out. pathetic, i know, theo is scarred for his coach rubbin him up a bit but come on. It was 6 years since you played last.
