NFL  > Kansas City Chiefs  > Dwayne Bowe (to the packers???)
September 22, 2009, 05:45 PM
One of my sources told me that the Chiefs are looking for a more reliable target as their number one receiver. Bowe made a nice catch for a touchdown Sunday, but dissapeared the rest of the game. The source told me that Bowe is "dumb as a box of rocks" and feels "entitled" to the position. I had heard that the team might be talking with the Green Bay Packers about a deal for Greg Jennings. Rumor has it that the trade would be Dwayne Bowe and a 4th round pick for Jennings. Management thinks that this would give Bowe a fresh start and give Cassel a new favorite target to pair up with Bobby Wade. Thoughts?

No way Packers are that Stupid...Maybe Donald Driver but not Greg Jennings. Cassell should have took the job in Denver.

Cassel was traded and didn't have the luxury of choosing the team he wanted to play for. As for your comment about Donald Driver... Driver is 33 years old and has scored only 8 touchdowns since 2007. He's been a product of a great system with good offensive lines and outstanding QBs. His days of being a #1 receiver are behind him, although he's still a good #2 guy.

As for Bowe... He's a former first round pick, has gained 995 and 1022 yards in his first two seasons, scored 14 times and just turned 25 on Monday. This guy is a successful #1 in KC, but may not be the kind of leader KC wants in their new 'Patriot way' philosophy. Jennings is a very comparable option for the Chiefs to consider.

Jennings is 26, a former 2nd round pick, gained 920 yards in 07 and 1292 in 08. He's scored 22 touchdowns since 07 and would be a slight upgrade from Bowe. I don't know if the Packers would accept Bowe and a fourth rounder for Jennings, but its something to atleast consider. Driver would be a terrific mentor for Bowe and could turn him into a regular pro bowl caliber player. Jennings doesn't need a mentor any longer and is ready to be turned loose to lead a team like the Chiefs. Those are just the things I am hearing from Chiefs camp.

Cassel..must be nice to get 50mil+ and not have to back it up..And as comment 1 said, why on earth would the packers be that dumb

I was at the game against the raiders, and if you had been, you would have seen the following things: (A) Bowe was against Nnamdi Asomugha ,who is the best corner in the game, yet he was still able to get open a few times... BUT because (B) Matt Cassel was under such pressure, he didn't have a chance to look down the field. The catch Bowe caught for a TD was when Nnamdi was out with an injury for 1 drive, and Cassel threw it up for grabs because he knew he wouldn't have time to wait for Bowe to get downfield. Watch the replay and see how long the ball was in the air... No protection means no time, no time means no passes downfield, no passes downfield means the WR that runs the deeper routes (Bowe) doesn't get any balls his way. I wish you idiots would pay attention to the whole game and stop just re-spewing the moronic things you hear on talk radio... Cassel did a great job of leading the team, and showed more passion and fire than any Chiefs QB has in the last .. Hell since the great Len Dawson hung 'em up! Yeah, he threw 2 picks, but so what, all QB's throw picks and under that type of pressure, he did a good job to only throw two. There is nothing wrong with Bowe or Cassel, aside than the fact that they are on the same team with the offensive line of the Chiefs! DRAFT OL!!!!!! Trade for OL!!!! Sign free agent OL!!!!!!!

well lets see how what happens this sunday at the eagles. The chiefs do not have a lot of talent on either side of the ball . Players have got to do their jobs and this is the organzitions biggest obstacle.

OMG! Why keep trying to fix what's not broken. First, Chiefs need a qb, who posted same stats as their qb (k, qbs stats are slightly better than chiefs qb, but elevated cause of the team he played for), now Chiefs need a wr who posts same stats as thier wr (ditto first statement). Everyone knows that they can't win cause they can't defend, and it's not the players.
