NFL  > Pittsburgh Steelers  > The AFC NORTH just got alot more interesting.
October 11, 2009, 06:52 PM
If todays game involving the Ravens and Bengals is any indication , the AFC North is going to be interesting, The Bengals are in First with 3-0 in division they beat all 3 rivals in division the first time around and the Ravens and Steelers are tied with one loss each on the division. The Ravens have a slight edge ,they are 1-1 but they have played 2 division rivals, The Steelers are 0-1 in the division, but play the Browns next weekend, I really think that this is going to be a close division this year , after next weekend , I am anxious to see how this all plays out because , statistically neither the Ravens or Steelers are out of the equation, and they still have the 2 games against each other in November and December, and we all know that these are nail biters. The Ravens can very well rebound against the Bengals in 3 weeks. The Steelers still have one more against the Bengals, and I am not taking anything away from the Bengals they are the better team right now, But I just wanted to put this out there for debate, Who does everyone think will take this division, I welcome all fans to quote on this Steeler ,Bengal , and Ravens fans . I just wanted to get some thoughts and get a good debate going , an actual football debate...

I'll go first I still believe when it is all said and done it will again this year come down between the Ravens and Steelers , I think the ravens will take the second meeting between them and the Bengals , and the the Steelers will take their second match against them, and mind you this is just my opinion.

This is precisely why crowing about how good a team is after 2 or 3 games is just beyond idiotic. ANYTHING can happen throughout the course of the season.

October 11, 2009  07:08 PM ET

I wonder if good old Steve from New Windsor will show up in this thread after all of his trash talking of the Steelers and their fans. Funny how the teams now have identical records and both lost to the Bungles, but the Ravens lost at home to them today. Hmmmmm. Weddy Interestink

Exactly , who would ahve thought at the beginning of the season The Bengals would be leading that is what the humbler is, I think it will be interesting from here on out.

I had predicted the Bengals would be a contending team this season and have a chance for a wild card but to be 3-0 in the division already already exceeded my expectations.

It was a great emotional game for the Bengals, How could you not root for them and well deserving to get the victory for Mike Zimmer and His family, SUch a sad loss for his family, Great Win!!!

I'm do like how the ravens have been playing this season but what I saw today by their defense was dissapointing and how aggressive they get when the game is on the line. They deserved every call they got on Palmer's final drive so i hope they don'tsay the refs had it in for them, they did deserve to lose this game, allyouhave to do the knock the ball down not knock a guys helmet off, Thought Ray Ray would know better by now. It seems the Ravens have beat themselves 2 weeks in a row now

Steelers, Why does it seem this season instead of the Defense saving the Offense it's the Offense saving the Defense? 4th quarter issues on Defense should be a concern...The amount of yards teams are getting on the Steelers defense is something you really don't expect, Lions got a lot of 3rd downs, think they were 60%? What should be a blow out turns into a game in the 4th quarter and i'm not sure why. Yeah, 3 straight sacks at the end but then again why you even in that position?

Denver just killed any chance of 3 teams going into the playoffs from this division, I'm going to stick with my prediction of..
1.Ravens
2.Bengals (wildcard)
3.Steelers
4.Browns

I agree with you on this part, they are stopping the run, havent allowed a 100 yard runner ,, but the pass defense is gettign shredded , I will be glad when Troy gets back that is where he is missed, I know one man does not make a D but he makes a difference, and The offense is doing great, Ben is doing well so far, and the O-line is improving, I just think if the D was as dominant as last year with the Offense playing the way they are , I shudder to think , but still alot of season left,I think it will even out. Oh by the way I seen Eli's foot didn't slow him down, that was good to see.

Well it was the Raiders and they made it way to easy...Man they are BAD. Yeah, ELi could have went 450 yards with 5 tds if he completed the game. He played 1 3/4of the first half and sat the rest after it was 28-0. We have the Saints next week so I finally have a sunday to have my blood pressure pumping...lol

I cant wait for that game next week, i think the giants might pull it out in a very close one.
For the north, we all got to give the bengals some respect, i did not see them having this record when i was looking at the schedule. But i still think it is going to come down to the steelers and the ravens. THis whole season should be very exciting from here on out. I cant wait till the steelers get a crack at the broncos in a few weeks. I think that is going to be a good game.

Good Morning, If you go to the Ravens board you will see my feelings about yesterdays game. The Ravens were awful yesterday, They did not use Derrick Mason at all, nor did they use Willis McGahee. Ray cost us 15 yards on a STUPID penalty hitting Chad Johnson( I wont call him Ocho-cinco). I WILL NOT say anything about the refs because they deserved all of the penalties they got. They just better have a MUCH BETTER game plan for the Vikings next week. No argueing here The Ravens got beat! plain and simple.
As far as our AFC North I still think it will come down to the Ravens and Steelers. I think (maybe its more hope) The Bengals are the flavor of the week!

Nice to hear from you Steve, and I agree Teh Ravens and the Steelers both better bring thier A game against the Vikings , but I think they will be OK , I think both games will be interesting,

That is the great thing about the nfl. the Bengals could very well be 0-5 or 5-0. When it comes down to crunch time the Bengals, Broncos will not get it done.As much as I hate the Bungles I was happy to see them get the win for Mike Zimmer ,my thought's and prayers go out to him and his family.

Agreed , they very well should be 5-0 , if not for that one fluke play, I think that victory was sweet for them yesterday , No only beating the ravens but going out there and doing it for their coach, I seen after the game that they gave him the game ball , and he was thanking the team and telling them that his wife would have been proud of them, That was one of the touching moments in the NFL , My heart broke for him as he made his speech, He is a man of strength, and I wish him and and his family all the best in this trying time.

Yeah, it's probably the Ravens and the Steelers. I don't believe in Cincinnati yet. Sure, they've won some close ones, but has it been luck or guts?

I saw someone mention this morning that all 5 of their games have been decided in the last 60 seconds. Those are the types of games good teams find ways to win. But I think in this case some of it has been luck and that only goes so far. I see Steelers, Bengals and Ravens all being pretty even W-L wise come the end of the season.

Good afternoon Jack, Im not sold on the Bengals just yet either, I think it is going to be a tight race year, not that Im happy about it mind ya, but hopefully it will make the Steelers see that the AFC not easy pickings this year, Im like you on the last part luck or guts? time will tell.

Yeah i know they did allow 100 yards rushing but it's more meaningful when lets say Cedric Benson runs for 100 yards against the Ravens... The Steelers did shut down Kevin Smith and gave up a big run to old man cullpepper...When he began to run there was this half second of "deer in headlights" look on both teams..you know..lol It was more funny than anything but then you saw the guy can still run and Labeau shut that down also.
