I've been trying to decide who is better between these two, but just can't seem to decide (I am talking about career, not currently). Maybe you guys can help me out, here's what they look like next to each other...

Analysis
It's scary how close the stats are on these two... Pronger has the better Norris record, while Niedermayer has the better All-Star record. I give Pronger the higher peak, both 1-year and 5-year. He also was able to become an elite defenseman at an earlier age. Pronger gets credit for bringing a physical game and nastiness/intimidation like few others, but gets some of that taken back for some very dirty plays that led to suspensions. Pronger also seems to log slightly more ice time/game. Despite Pronger having the better per game numbers, I say that Niedermayer is the better playoff performer...Both have some unreal performances, but Niedermayer's best are a little better than Pronger's best. He also has 4 Cups to Pronger's 1. Niedermayer gets credit for being able to control the tempo of a game like few others can.

I'm leaning slightly towards Pronger because of the higher peak and younger age as an elite defenseman, but it's so close. I think I am also assuming he will continue to be a top Dman for the next few years like Niedermayer has been able to do in his old age, which is definitely not a sure thing...

What do you guys think? Is there a way to make a clear cut choice, or is it more a matter of personal preference on the type of player you like?
