NFL  > General NFL  > What if......Broncos and Titans

Two teams at the opposite of the spectrum...... but rewind a minute to week one.

What if Stokely does not get the 87 yard miracle with the tipped pass for a touchdown with 20 seconds left... 6-0 is NEVER an option.

What if Bironas (sp?) makes one of if not both of the missed field goals for Tennessee in week one vs Pittsburgh? Do they continue on a slide and end up 1-5 rather than 0-6; a team that won the first 10 last year?

My question is how much can week one events set up a team for failure or success. Pre-season is all about "we're gonna do this.... and we're gonna do that...." and the players all believe and then POW reality hits and fortunes can change. It would be interesting if you were able to turn back the clock, reverse the fortunes of week one and then see where both teams stand in week 7.

This is NOT to question the body of work for both of these teams in the next 5 games but to examine how much momentum and psyche can work to the advantage or disadvantage of a coach and his players.
Thoughts??
