MLB  > Cleveland Indians  > Why in tarnation did we sign Manny Acta with a .385 winning record?

Probably because he can "Manage" the day to day duties, and they won't have to pay him much. Winning, on the other hand.......

well, let's see...he had Zimmerman and....um, and...um...yeah.

What do you expect from a guy given practically zero talent...players play the game...perhaps point out some valid mismanagement he did that makes him a bad manager?

If he was that good, why did they let him go mid-season with a .299 record? Are you telling me that management didn't know he had no talented players to work with? They only gave him 2 1/2 years and let him go. His record dropped substantially each year he managed.

.............it's not like top flight guys were beating the door down for the gig...............

they needed a fall guy...who are they gonna blame, THEMSELVES? The manager is always the one who gets the blame but they only have Zimmerman and Morgan...it's a miracle they EVER win....

I'd rather judge a guy a guy on his managing skills when he actually has some major league talent...

Because they're the Indians and that's how they roll.

From what I've seen and read about the guy most everyone speaks highly of him. He seemed like he wanted the job, unlike Bobby V. Don Mattingly probably wasn't going to leave L.A. Lovullo is viewed as a future big league manager but the front office wanted someone outside the organization with prior experience and his hiring would've been killed here locally as another eric wedge type hiring.

I would of been happy bringing up the Aero's manager, Mike Sarbaugh.

A manager can often be judged by what he doesn't have. But if you win with nothing, then imagine what he could do when he gets something. The Tribe still needs pitching. They need starters. And with Jake's arm struggles I know that they are going to have to find some quality guys to pitch. Can they do it? I hope so.

I don't disagree...but that team is void of talent like no other, with few exceptions...the best manager alive couldn't do jack with THAT team...the GMs there have been worthless.
