NFL  > San Diego Chargers  > What about SD is so great?
October 26, 2009, 07:20 PM
I've noticed throughout the last few years that everyone seems to have a **** for the San Diego Chargers, and I want to know why?

Now two years ago, I would have agreed with everyone that SD was a legit SB contender. Last year I would have put them in the conversation for a dark horse, but then they go 8-8. Don't do ANYTHING to improve the team, and yet people are still calling for them to win the AFC West. They have 1 win outside of the division and the other two are against 2 annual doormats. I admit that before the season, I thought they would win the division because Denver seemed like it was in a rebuilding phase, but it took until Denver beat them, on the road, after SD's bye, on MNF when San Diego ( a good clutch team usually) needed a win for people to say Denver might be better.
I'm not trying to disrespect San Diego or its fans but it seems like they get the benefit of the doubt more than any other team.
Why?
October 26, 2009  07:36 PM ET

Why? Norv Turner.

October 26, 2009  07:52 PM ET

Norv is a god, with that creater face from a life long acne problem to the jazzy Chargers bling they have him wear everyweek.
If not for Norv the Chargers would probably gone 10-6 or 11-5 last season, instead they get to the playoffs at 8-8 because the Bronco's who had the division title won 12 games into the season totally tanked, even they couldn't figure out how they blew it.
Really who else could pull this off? Norv's my man of the year! Coach of the Decade!

He is quite frankly the most interesting person in the NFL.

I might add, yes I did miss my meds at lunchtime.

Its just the Turner pedigree, god forbid Ron Turner is ever made a head coach*..again..ish

*See Fighting Illini...

loved ladainian's ''classy-like-me'' meltdown a few years back !........And at the same game, the pats taunting ''lights-out'' in the locker-room too !.........that game put an end to marty-ball !.........lol !!

because they have tons of talent

Because the Chargers own the AFC West. And they always will. Just like the Donks will always suck, just because they are the Donks. Orton is a fraud who should have seven picks already but sold his soul to the devil and they were dropped. Not in the second half of the season, though. Look for another Donk meltdown. The streak gets legs this week as the Steelers beat them Monday night, and it gets worse from there. The Chargers are golden. The Chargers have Rivers. The Chargers are SB bound. It's all about the Chargers. Donk fans will be crying again, just like last year.

Norv is the problem. Until the players and fans show their displeasure with Norv he stays.

Firing Schottenheimer (sp?) was the worst thing the chargers could have done.

LT is a shadow of his former self. Sproles is just not an everydown back. Merriman is in the same category as LT. The only big time player they have that hasn't fallen off is Rivers.

Say what you want about Denver but we're 2 games up and all those Dolts fans can hope is that we fall apart for a 2nd year in a row... and that ain't gonna happen.

...frankly the whole AFC West isn't so hot, and at different times over the last few years that has played in either the Chargers or Broncos favor depending on the season. I don't think either team will be a factor in the playoffs........................and Norv does need to go, along with AJ Smith

When in doubt were your problems lie, build a new stadium.

I think they struggle with leadership on the field overall. They have had access to plenty of talent!

The Donks will always suck huh? Do me a favor, what's the Super Bowl count between the two? Oh yeah. I would bite my lip if I were you nube.

Yeah this is really true. AFC West used to be a pretty good division but it's fallen off in the last 5-7 years. A lot of that has to do with the Raiders just being plain terrible from top to bottom though. The Chargers are a talented team but I think Norv's attitude ( or lack there of) has filtered down to his players.

Still being a division winner is a good thing. Just look at what the Cardinals did last season.

HaHa!!! You must be watching some different games then I have!!! You cant win when the other team can run the ball at will. Denver also did own SD down here on MNF. I think the worst part for the band-wagoning Charger fans is that Denver fans showed up on force for that game!!!

November 8, 2009  02:17 AM ET

What about SD is so great? I can only think that it may be the weather. It's not the Chargers or the Clippers.

November 8, 2009  09:29 PM ET

Congratulations San Diego. Will this be the spark for the team?

BINGO!!!!!!

You'd be hard-pressed to find ANY old Redskin-fans who'd want to see him show-up in D.C.-land, again!!!!!
