NFL  > New Orleans Saints  > 7 WINS & NO LOSSES, WHAT IS YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR THE REST OF THE REGULAR SEASON
October 28, 2009, 02:55 AM
The Saints have came out played this season and played WAY beyond my expectations. I am so happy that they playing extremely well.

My question is, what will the Saints record be at the end of the regular season?

These are the teams that are remaining on their schedule.

Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
at St. Louis Rams
at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
New England Patroits
at Washington Redskins
at Atlanta Falcons
Dallas Cowboys
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
at Carolina Panthers

PLEASE NO 16-0 SEASON OR SUPERBOWL TALKS???.. THAT WILL JUST BRING BAD LUCK

You'd better hope they lose a couple at least.

In past years the #1 seed hasn't won the SB.

Teams that looked as 'unstoppable' as the Saints do now? The '05 Colts that lost to Pittsburgh and the '07 Pats that lost to the Giants. Who did Pittsburgh beat in '05? The Seahawks, also a #1 seed. Last year? The Titans.....lost to Baltimore at home.

Seriously, when was the last time a #1 seed won the SB?

You don't want to be #1 in the regular season.

I have to disagree with you on this Rayne.

If the Saints make it to the Superbowl and I believe they will , I think they will win . They are a tough team they showed that Sunday . even when you get them down they found away to come back.

October 28, 2009  03:47 PM ET

they could easily go 14-2 or 15-1 and win the Super Bowl if they continue to play like this...nobody can beat them right now...drew brees now #2 qn in nfl easily behind manning..

October 28, 2009  03:52 PM ET

if they are 7-0 now and they play the remaining games you listed.... that's 17 games. is this correct? anyway.... i'd say they may lose to the pats and at least another one. N.O. is good and this schedule is really in their favor. but, i'd be surprised if they go 15-1. dallas may be the only other team that has a chance, but dallas has struggled in dec/jan and this one is on the road for dallas. i'd say they finish 14-2 - very good record.

October 28, 2009  06:24 PM ET

You guys are also assuming that they will get there injury free. Injuries, especially to key players, have a way of disrupting the best laid plans of mice and men...........or something like that..........lol

October 28, 2009  06:49 PM ET

I beleive the Saints will end up being the #1 seed. I also think that any losses we may suffer(NO MORE THAN THREE) will not come from the Pats or Cowboys. And finally, I also disagree with Rayne for the same reason stated by Bigbentheory 7. Geaux Saints!!!!!!

Agreed except for the Dallas game.

October 29, 2009  10:15 AM ET

I honestly believe they COULD win out. But realistically, I'm thinking 14 - 2. The Pats will give them a strong test, and I think they'll have an off game against one more. I don't think the Falcons or Cowboys can beat them. The Saints will be ready to play against them.

Bull Shirt is right. If a key player goes down, everything can and will change.

Understood, but here's my arguement...

2008: #1 seeds were the Giants and Titans - both lost at home. 2007: New England Pats lost in the SB to the #5 NY Giants. The #1 seeded Cowboys lost at home. 2006: #1 seed Chicago lost in the SB to the Colts, who were the #3 seed. The #1 Chargers lost at home. 2005: The #1 seed Indy Colts lost at home to the eventual SB champs, the Pittsburgh Steelers, who were the #6 seed. The #1 NFC seeded Seahawks lost to them, too. 2004: The #1 seeded Pittsburgh Steelers lost the Pats at home (The #2 seed) and the #1 NFC seeded lost to them, too.

You have to go all the way back to 2003 for the #1 seeded Pats to find a #1 seed that won the SB.

Considering the Saints have zero playoff experience as a team and the fact that #1 seeds don't win the SB, I'd put my money against them. Ditto for the Broncos.

Dallas does not have the Defense necessary to defeat the Saints in New Orleans.

For example:
Tampa Bay's #28 offense scored 21 points vs Dallas
Kansas City's #26 offense scored 20 points vs Dallas

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Saints post near 48 points vs the Cowboys... just like they did vs the Giants and Eagles.

October 29, 2009  08:04 PM ET

Maybe 15-1, but if they get by New England anything's possible. New fullback, let's see how it goes.

October 29, 2009  08:19 PM ET

Indy would definitely kill the Saints.

October 29, 2009  08:40 PM ET

Indy's got nothing on the Saints. Nola has the best team in the NFL. They could legitimately run the table but that's asking a lot. But they have the type of veteran leadership to pull it off.

The Colts are all passing game, no rushing game... both sides of the ball.
#27 Rushing Offense
#19 Rushing Defense

The Saints are a more balanced team, especially on offense. I'd expect Sean Payton to exploit the Colts weak run defense.

I'd like to see that matchup, but we all know how that would have to come about this season and I am NOT uttering a word about that game.

12-4 swept out of the playoffs in the first round...bitter disappointment!

October 31, 2009  04:55 PM ET

Question: What is the highest number of wins for the Saints with no losses and what year was it?

October 31, 2009  05:04 PM ET

I'm thinking 14-2 at worse..I'll Benefit the Pats and the Cowboys but then again with who they have left...16-0 is very likely!!!

It was 1991 and the Saints were 7 - 0. I think they came off a bye and were dismantled by the Steelers. They were never the same after that game. A win Monday night will tie that team record/
