MMA  > General MMA  > Mino - Mir II

Minotauro asked for a rematch. It will not happen yet, as UFC is pushing for him to fight the loser of Lesnar & carwin.
I think he beats Mir.
What do you think?

Thats a tough one. Mir looked VERY good against the Nogmeister. In the standup game Mir is the clear favorite, and while Nogs jujits is wolrd class, so is Mirs.

If Nog can win it will be pure heart willing him to victory.

Really? I say NOG wins easy just like I thought he would the first time. I mean, I was kinda glad Mir won because I wanted Brock versus Mir II and I think NOG is a better opponent for Brock. If NOG had won we wouldn't have seen a Brock vs Mir II.

Nog never loses to Mir in the first fight if he was healthy. Nog takes this easy IMO.

I don't know.
First of all, Good point Krypto :) I like the way you thought it up. I hadn't considered this before, but you are right.

But I think that, apart from my man-love for Nog, he is the better man.
If mir shows up as the bad mir, there'll be no fight. Nog wins easily.
But if the great Mir of old shows up, this should be a battle. because Mir is great. However, I think that Nog's experience is much better than Mir's and he's been training Boxing with boxing coaches as of late!
So he might have a surprise for Mir.

Big Nog easlily wins this one if he's healthy like vs Couture. Hands down!!!!!

October 29, 2009  02:24 PM ET

Nog's striking and cardio were not up to par during the Mir fight. Whether or not that was due to illness or poor preparation, or just how things played out against Mir... we'll never know. At least, not until the rematch. You can't take anything away from Mir. He destroyed Nog.

I think Nog v. the loser of the title fight and the winner of that against Mir is appropriate. Finally, the winner of that match gets a title shot, barring a loss on Mir's record between now and then.

I disagree.
it was well documented that Nog was not healthy for that fight.

if Lesnar is pulling out from his fight due to a FLU, imagine what it is to be hospitalized 5 weeks prior to the fight with staf infection.

Say what you want. but Nog was not himself, and the fight with Randy showed the real Nog.
If Mir does it again, then I'll accept we won against Nog. Until then, to me, the fight was unfair as Mir was 100% and Nog was not.

Yeah, NOG should really have called that one in light of the circumstances.

Yes.

Healthy Nog dominates Mir like an unruly child. He might beat him standing, he will definitly beat him on the ground. Hate to change the topic, but I once heard Mike Goldberg say that Mir was as good on the ground as Nog and that it was a matter of if you like PRIDE, you think Nog is better and if you like UFC better you think Mir is better. Does anyone on here think this is true?

October 29, 2009  08:58 PM ET

I think Mir has the best ground game besides Nog.
he is great and all, but still I don't think he can compare with the #1.

Nog showed up. Nog lost.

As far as "unfair" is concerned... hahahaha. Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

Nog is better on the ground. Mir had been the best ground game for a HW hands down before Nog came though. I don't think Nog dominates him. I think the fight would definitely be closer than their first. I understand Nog wasn't healthy, but he still showed up, no excuses, and don't take the victory away from Mir. I would say a hard fought battle going to decision, either way.

Nog was 11-1-1 with 8 submissions when Mir made his MMA debut. Maybe you are only familiar with the UFC but Nog was already top 10 when Mir started to appear. He had ripped through the Rings King of Kings tourny by then. No disrespect, but Nog has been around a lot longer than Mir.

This is true, but Mir was a prodigy that destroyed the best heavyweights in the UFC up until his motorcycle accident... one which he was told would prevent him from even walking again. Both of these guys are amongst the best in the world. Everyone fights injured. Everyone fights less than 100% Unless they're a Vikings fan, apparently.

Please give me that list of the best heavyweights that he detroyed before his motorcycle accident. oh wait did you mean Wes Sims, Pete Williams, and Tank Abbott? I'll give you Tim Sylvia but the rest.........?

I agree with you. he showed up and lost.

Now aboutt he unfair part, read all sentence before you butcher it and change it's meaning.
I want to see a fight were both fighters are showing up for the fight healthy and 100%. Like Nog showed for Randy's fight, and like Mir showed up for his first Nog fight.

I do NOT want to see one fight where only one fighter shows up. That is all I meant.

I meant in UFC, Clouis.
Mir was the best HW ground game until Nog signed with UFC. Now he is second fiddle.

Unfair is too strong. It implies an illicit advantage.

Claiming Mir destroyed the top heavyweights before his motorcycle crash is like proclaiming that he was the smartest D- student at school. Yeah, it's true, but is it really something to brag about?
