NFL  > General NFL  > Cutler honeymoon finished?
October 30, 2009, 02:39 PM
I find it entertaining that Chicago is already beginning to show signs of fatigue watching the Jay Cutler show. In a recent Chicago Tribune night life article, it was mentioned Cutler and backup QB Caleb Hanie attended a nightclub performance of Kelly Clarkson at Hub 51. Comments from readers of the article included...were Cutler and Henie on a date, I was there...After one really bad song, Cutler fired a ketchup bottle at Clarkson, but it was picked off, Cutler doesn't take 2 days off... just sundays, and In all fairness, the Bengals had a really good quarterback throwing for them...JAY CUTLER!!! Writers are speculating if $50 million franchise QBs are supposed to be this inconsistant. Before the season started the talk in Chicago was Cutler would make the talent around him better, from the WRs to the O-line. With the exception of Knox (a rookie), the WRs for the Bears are about where they were last year. Once the rage of Chicago and the messiah, Cutler is now being questioned. Is the honeymoon over?

Bears got hosed on that trade...I bet Bronco fans couldnt be happier they got rid of the cry baby INT boy. Now he can have non producing seasons on Da Bears.

I think the honeymoon is very much over. Chicago fans wanted this year to be the one the Bears broke through and challenged for the Super Bowl. Now the only way the Bears will see the Super Bowl is if they travel to Miami and watch from the stands.

Cutler was a non factor the Broncos and is proving to be a non factor for the Bears as well...and at $50 Million clams, that is a serious problem.

When your bride is the Chicago Bears, why would you want a honeymoon? I would think he wants an annulment.

I think that is true...trade Colorado for Chicago?

I don't think it's quite over yet. It would be a different story if the Bears had any real talent at WR. I wouldn't give up on him yet- he's too talented.

We are at the half way point of the season and the clear cut winner of the deal is obviously the Broncos, as well as Orton is playing I can`t imagine where Cutler would be right now if he believed in Josh McD in the first place and opened his mind to his offense.

It helps that Denver is better coached and has a far superior defense. Still, Cutler has improved Knox, Hester, and Bennett. Each are close to 20 catches, you could basically count them all as rookies. Hester had his first 100 yard game, which isn't that special..but he's only been playing WR for 2 years. So its big for him. The O-Line in Chicago is just bad, a quarterback with less mobility than Cutler would have twice as many sacks.

I honestly didn't go for the superbowl talk, I just liked the trade as a move for the future. Similar to the Bulls..just wait until 2010 and then we'll be something special. Short term, the Bronco's clearly got the long end of the stick. Long term, thats still to be seen.

Oh and don't trust Chicago media, they'll be raving after Sunday when the Bears beat Cleveland. Its annoying..

Back in 74' the great Charlie Rich was named country musician of the year. Then in 75' he had to hand the award off to the new winner. And you know who that was? Mr sunshine on my shoulders JOHN DENVER!!!!!! Can you believe it? He was replaced by JOHN "F"ING DENVER! Well I'll be damned if he didn't pull out his cigarette lighter right there and light that award on fire! Get it?

I think it boils down to three issues: wide receiver, offensive coordinator, and offensive line.

They can fire the coordinator and bring in someone with fresh new ideas. Maybe they can use their first round draft pick in the 2010 draft to . . . oh wait. . . crap!

LOL, That was good dude!!!

Really their first round pick wouldn't help, look how Angelo drafts..Besides that, few #1 receivers actually come from the first round. Heyward-Bey?..Free Agency will be better suited to attack the lack of a #1 wideout. I'd love to see them fire Turner and I think the QB coach at USC would be a great replacement. He was formerly the QB coach at Denver and had a great working relationship with Cutler. The O-Line needs a RT and a LG, their current RT Williams should be moved to LT. Linemen, LT's usually come from the first round..so it's not impossible that the Bears could be a good linemen in later rounds. Personally, I'm more upset with the loss of a second round pick for..Gaines Adams?

Yes, b/c one season of rookie wide outs and a new playbook tells everything. I think people are more bent on trying to bash than actually talk football. Get real.

Chicago needs to trade Hester, he has trade value but isn't the reciever that they need.

LOL.........why would the honeymoon be over, it's not gotten off to the start Chicago had hoped but the O-Line is worse than most thought and the secondary has been terrible and couldn't cover a needle with a blanket. I fail to see how this is Cutlers fault, Football is a team sport.

November 3, 2009  10:49 AM ET

Has his honeymoon ever started? He stinks..always will, Bears will further prove this after Denver owned this trade. Average (pushing it) qb at best when hes done. Easy to spot out he will never lead the Bears anywhere.

11Tds, 11INTs, YEA CUTLER IS GOOD!!! 80.8 rating? HA! The honey moon NEVER began..he sucks.
