I realize that no team can play its "A" game every week for a full 4 quarters and that 1 letdown isn't indicative of the true character of the team. I also realize that there are no "rules" for those that vote in the polls just their subjective opinions. I'm just curious what others out there were thinking.
OK seriously I don't think they should be punished in the polls.
Yes of course Iowa should be punished in the polls. They also got the benefit of two horrible replay calls which took away two touchdowns. I don't think Iowa is a top ten team.
Illinois?Come on voters.LSU and Oregon would both blow Iowa's doors off.To expect more resonsible voting would be futile, however, because these same voters have seen Florida and Alabama as better than Texas the last few weeks, even though the Longhorns have clearly established themselves as the most balanced team in the country, with a defense nobody wants to face.Poll voters cater to their "constituencies",vote with the flow and play favorites.Always have.Always will.Yes,Iowa should be punished. So should Florida and Alabama. My vote is for a playoff.Always has been.Always will be.

I think you pretty well summed it up. The question with Iowa is that EVERY game seems to be like this one.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. None of the opponents that Texas has faced has really impressed me. Maybe this is a similar situation to tOSU/tSUN in 2006. They blew the doors off of the Big10 conference opponents, but their teams weren't really as 'balanced' as everyone thought.
I agree completely with you position on a playoff. top 8 teams.

Given how different everyone's schedules are, it is interesting to consider where all of the top ten would be right now if they had played Oklahoma's schedule up to this point. Or UDub's schedule for that matter.
Indiana in my mind is not a weak team, they almost upset Michigan and Iowa on the road, and they gave Ohio State a tough game.

Custer almost won too.
Iowa top ten? yes because of the 9 wins---close or not to average teams.
#4 Ranking? NOPE NOPE NOPE.
BCS bowl game YES--but likely to lose.
BCS Title game--not a chance
Leapfrog anybody? NOOOOOO---why cant they be happy that they are at a spot where nobody, even THEY had dreamed? Theyve played hard, good defense and won some close games--and nearlly lost 3 others to average teams, they remind me a lot of Alabama last year.
I actually saw fans in here pumping for Iowa to jump Texas before the Game with Okie State even started---ridiculous--the Hawkeyes wouldnt have even scored on Texas 1st string yesterday
Ho-Hum..............still number nine. Again..............

The ability to change that dramatically is in LSU's control this weekend.

How can you say that with such certainty? I think we've seen enough in College ball to get past assumptions.Hello, appalachian state?Anyway.WHO do you have ahead of Iowa? Being undefeated and all...how do you justify them NOT being 4 or 5?
i guess thats a very valid point, and im not ambushing Iowa or their wins this season,---i just dont think Iowa could beat Florida--Texas- Oregon-TCU-LSU-Alabama, Oklahoma State or even Oklahoma, as i said, since they started the season unranked, Hawkeye fans should be happy to be top 10 and likely headed for a BCS bowl game
LSU WOULD WHOMP IOWA 'TILL THEY SMELLED LIKE ONIONS
