PACKER FANS : "You followed the Pied Piper and what's it gotten you ?"
( Besides an entire Nation of football fans laughing at you )

FAVRE's RECORD POST-PACKERS = 16 - 8
RODGERS RECORD WITH PACKERS = 10 - 13

Note : Packers were 13 - 3 in previous season before Rodgers took the helm
while Favre's inherited teams were a combined 14 -18 before he arrived

Favre's 3 year journeyman record PACK / JETS / VIKES = 29 - 11
( Only Peyton Manning has more victories over the last 40 games )

OK ~ Hindsight is 20 /20 . . . and there's no going back ...

I'M CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THERE'S ANY PACKER FANS OUT THERE WHO STILL BELIEVE TED THOMPSON MADE THE RIGHT MOVE ?

It's easy to improve your record when you can move to different teams of your choice year to year.

Not to take sides, and not saying one side is right and the other is wrong, but Favre will eventually retire.........for good. I don't see him playing at 45 years of age or older.

Very few people play football when they are near 40 years old. Not knowing all of the details between he and the team, other than he "retired", they had to have Rogers step up and take his place, did they not? Then, Favre said he wants to play again, but they already turned over the reins to Rogers, which sticks the team between a rock and a hard place. They had to make a choice.......one way or the other.....either let Favre come back and tell Rogers he was relegated back to 2nd string for another year or three, or go ahead with Rogers and let him develop, which would have been delayed for as long as Favre continued playing.

Was it the right move the team made? If you're developing your QB of the future, yes. But, if you wanted a "quick fix", then no. So, the team went with the long range plan in Rogers and we know what happened.

This is only my opinion in the matter, and it certainly isn't the only one. But, that's the way I look at it, for whatever it's worth.

Team of choice? GB prety much said which teams can and cannot talk to Brett and or which team they will trade with. I think you are mistaken. This is the only year Favre moved from team to team, at his liking.

i will say it was a good move, it was rodgers' time to take over the team, it worked for both sides, sure rodgers hasn't won a lot of games in his FIRST SEASON AND A HALF, give the guy some time, he gets an O-Line, this team is dangerous, he's an incredibly gifted QB, i mean look at the numbers he has and the amount of time he's getting to actually make the throws...favre wouldn't be as good in this offense, lots of picks and he'd probably be hurt (i hate to say it, but a 40 year old couldn't take the beating rodgers has)...favre is succesful, and the packers have a qb of the future....seems like it worked for both sides...

Typical shortsighted garbage. Rodgers is hardly the problem in GB right now. Do I think that the Packers might win a few more with Favre playing? Sure, but it would be a few wins now and definitely not a SB for the Packers with Favre vs. moving on and getting playing time for their QB of the next decade. Rodgers is already a top 10 QB and has a chance to become much better. \
In 2009
Favre + Vikings = chance at a SB
Favre + Packers = 9-7, maybe 10-6 and an early exit in the playoffs.

osumountie . . .
I agree that Rodgers can play the Qb position ...just not as good as #4
( and after reading your reply , apparently you believe the same )
In 2007 , The Pack came razor close to a Super Bowl appearance
( I understand the Media focused on the Favre INT -but closer examination of the end of the that game reveals it was Malarkeys instructions for unimaginative play calling and "prevent-esque D " that allowed the G-men to even force OT ...but I digress )
So considering the 2008 Pack was almost identical to the 2007 one with proven SB potential ~
Your logic dictates that you would choose the unproven young guy over the seasoned pro to lead your playoff caliber team ?

Sure glad I don't have you running my favorite team ...

OSU hmmm ... O-H-I-O ? ...Maybe the BROWNS should give u a call
( you might just fit right in )

Do the 2009 Titans look a whole lot like the 2008 Titans? The 2008 Titans looked like a SB team too. Every year is different.

You have to be able to look beyond the end of your nose to be successful in the NFL. Did they make the wrong decision? I am not totally sure but I guarantee you that if they had kept Favre, Rogers walks and they spend the next half decade trying to find another good QB.
