MMA  > General MMA  > Tito calling out Chuck

Tito is already calling out Chuck before his fight with Forrest even happens. Do you think it's a coincidence that he wants to fight him now that Chuck is clearly not the fighter he once was when he put Tito's lights out twice. I have no desire to see these two fight again. Chuck showed he was clearly the better fighter in each of their fights.

Former UFC light heavyweight titleholder Tito Ortiz re-signed with The Ultimate Fighting Championship in late July ending 13 months of free agency, and "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" is already rekindling old rivalries.

Ortiz takes on Forrest Griffin in his return to the Octagon in a rematch at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, but the 34-year-old fighter has been lobbying to get a third bout with his old nemesis Chuck Liddell in 2010.

"I know I've lost two matches. I still think I can beat him, and I still think that's a big fight," Ortiz told MMAWeekly.com. "I still want that fight. That would be awesome."

Liddell has been on hiatus from the sport since losing to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 97 in April. UFC president Dana White originally said Liddell was retired, but has since backed off those statements. "The Iceman" has been defeated in four of his last five fights, but has indicated that he still has the desire to compete.

"I think if I call him out enough times I think he'll be a man and step up," said Ortiz. "Why wouldn't he? That's a huge fight and a big payday for him. It will be good.

"I think we can see one more," he added. "Why not? I'm down. I'm always game. You know me, I'm not afraid to fight anyone, even though there was a picture that was painted a long time ago that wasn't true. I've fought him twice already. I'm not afraid.

"He already proved he's not my friend, so the hell with it. I've got nothing to lose. Lets make some money, and this time I'm going to kick his ass."

The Liddell and Ortiz grudge is one of the most storied rivalries in mixed martial arts' short history, dating back to 2002. Ortiz, who was champion at the time, was in prolonged contract negotiations with the UFC, which led to Liddell fighting for the interim belt before defeating Ortiz at UFC 47 and UFC 66.

That obviously left a sour taste in Ortiz's mouth ... and the feud continues.

I agree with you...Chuck has nothing to gain by takng this fight and he won 2 in a row so obviously he bettered Ortiz and Ortiz just wants to fight a down and out guy to bulster his lil ego.

ANY HATERS CAN KISS THE RING!!!!!!!

I have more intrest in watching Coleman fight these two than wathching them fight each other. I do think that Tito would win though so I would like to see it happen to shut Chuck up. And if I'm not mistake Chusk said a few months back he wants it too, we'll probably be subjected to it on a future Spike card.

November 5, 2009  10:57 AM ET

I hope Chuck does not agree.
But if he does, please let this be a resounding win and then BOTH these fighters retire! One in glory (chuck) and one in shame (tito)

is there a method or training routine to make ur self LESS prone to KO? I know the following:
1) if you do specific NECK excersizes you have a better chance of NOT getting knocked out.
2) if you get ko'd your more prone to be ko'd.
3) so is there a way to come back from that? after being ko'd a few times can you do some excersizes and get your head right? is DWTS a way to do this? lol.

I do think it's a coincidence; I think Tito's trying to make up for his past embarrassments.

If I remember right, Tito's been whining for another match since the end of their last one.

It's Tito Ortiz: when has he ever not thought he was the greatest ever?

Didn't he claim he could beat Fedor earlier this year?

November 5, 2009  02:37 PM ET

Tito Ortiz is trying to get back at Chuck, after losing two fights... very much like Rampage did to Wanderlei Silva (was destroyed twice, then won the 3rd)

If this fight materializes I am not exactly looking forward to it, but I would have my money on Tito, this time around.

Out of the three guys, Coleman, Liddell, and Ortiz, who do you guys think has the best shot at being a contender again in the UFC? My money would be on "the Hammer", but that could be more my heart than my mind speaking. But Coleman is huge for 205 and does have the best wrestlin of the three, and he is not so arrogant as to try to stand up just to prove how manly he is. He wants the fight on the ground, and if your not an elite striker or submission fighter he will probably get there and finish you. I see 205 crowded with renissance type fighters, good at everything great at nothing. Colemans ground game is pretty slick too (I can't recall any other fighter having Fedor's back with both hooks in). Look at Bonnar;good striker, decent on the ground. Same with Forrest, Jardine and most other fighter not in the top 3 at 205.

Coleman's size and fighting style could give him the edge. He can take you down and keep you down, just so long as his lungs don't collapse as he begins gasping around the 3 minute mark.

He actually looked pretty good against Bonnar. His cardio held out and thats the only reason he won that fight.

Tito's just an opporunistic piece of (insert gooey substance here). Tito ran from Liddell for 2 years. Now that Chuck's slowed down and become susceptible to being KO'd Tito's suddenly calling him out. Tito got stopped... twice... he didn't even make it to the end of either fight. What gives him the right to call out Liddell?

If he truly believed in himself, he'd call out the champ, Lyoto. If you remember, "...almost submitted the current champ. I'm still relevant." One offensive move after nearly 15 minutes of one-sided ass whooping makes a fight.

Ass whooping is a harsh word for the tepid cowardice that Machida displayed in that fight. He only hurt Tito once, about 5 seconds before he found himself in a super tight triangle.

...and the pathetic revisionist history begins.

Tito. Coleman is 50 and Liddell's brain is scrambled. Tito went the distance against the current UFC LHW champ not too long ago.

As far as Tito-Chuck 3 goes. What the hell, I wouldnt mind seeing it. I like Tito in that one.

Tito.

Coleman doesn't have cardio, Lidell is a mess.

Last time we saw Tito he was still relevant. If he's in decent health, Ortiz is still not too old at 34.

I don't think any of the 3 will realistically contend, though.

Tito looked completely helpless in that fight. Machida controlled the entire fight, and the triangle wasn't tight enough or he would have gotten the submission. I think Tito is overrated and will never come close to title contention. And honestly none of those three(Chuck, Coleman, Tito) have any chance of becoming LtHW champ. Coleman is 5-5 in his last 10 fights. Granted he has lost to some of the best fighters out there(Fedor twice, The Pride Mirko, Split with Rua, and Nog). His biggest win coming against Rua in that stretch. Chuck can't keep from getting KO'd and Tito hasn't won since beating Ken Shamrock in 2006.
