NFL  > Pittsburgh Steelers  > Roethlisbergers Accuser quits job at Harrahs Cry for sympathy
November 5, 2009, 10:41 AM
This is the lastest artilce in the Ben Roethlisberger Drama. Cry for sympathy you be the Judge.

The woman who has filed a civil lawsuit against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger claiming he sexually assaulted her last summer has quit working for the Nevada hotel where she said the incident occurred.

Calvin R.X. Dunlap, the Reno-based attorney for the woman, last night confirmed that his client quit late last week because of "the way she was being treated" by managers at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, where she was a casino host.

She was not forced to quit, he said.

The woman sued Roethlisberger in July, claiming that he sexually assaulted her while staying at the Lake Tahoe hotel in 2008 for a charity golf outing. She also sued eight current or former employees of Harrah's, saying they protected Roethlisberger.

The Post-Gazette does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault.

Dunlap said his client continued to work at Harrah's "from the time the incident happened until September [2008], when she started falling apart." The woman took numerous leaves for medical reasons between November 2008 and March 2009, when she returned to work.

"Her co-workers have been extremely supportive," Dunlap said. "But her employer made the situation impossible for her."

After months of filings between Dunlap's office and the attorneys representing Roethlisberger, the case is in limbo pending an appeal of the defense team's request for a change of venue. Dunlap has filed the case in Reno, Washoe County, but Roethlisberger's attorneys -- and those representing the Harrah's employees -- want the trial moved to Douglas County, where Lake Tahoe is. A Reno judge last month rejected the change of venue request.

I, Myself think this is a cry for symapthy . She and her attorney know that their case is sinking faster than the Titanic. I think this is a her only way to get money from this Circus of a lawsuit. She put out there that the hotel made it hard for her to work there and in hopes that she will get a settlement from them. Well, what did she expect. Them to welcome her back with open arms. I think not . After the fact that you accused them of covering up something that she bragged about to anyone at the hotel who would listen. What did she expect. Like I have always been told, " you reap what you sow" You sowed soil on the names of Ben and the Hotel. So now you reap the aftermath. I for one do not feel sorry for her at all. I hope that Ben and the other Defendents get their appeal for change of venue and I think personally they need another Judge to preside over this, from what I have read he is a "media seeking judge " himself.

Great post Jady, i read it yesterday on PFT but was waiting on someone else to print to see if it was true. I also agree , Cry for sympathy at best. She probably thinks that if she makes the Hotel look bad that they mistreated her that they will settle with her , I was looking for something like this after Ben countersued her. A symapthy cry. I also read that she couldnt get any one at the hotel to back her up in this suit. I wonder why she bragged to anyone at the hotel that would listen about her night with Ben. what did she expect, to be welcomed back with open arms, after suing them and workers there. I like the Titanic phrase..I was leaning more towards her story has more holes than swiss cheese. LOL

The price of being a celebrity, I only wish I had a picture of her, sounds like an ex-girlfriend.

Thanks for the catch. No we would not want another episode of last week. Glad to see you are back had not seen you on lately. Read your thread . Funny stuff.

Jadygirl, forgot to put this on there, mind somewhere else I reckon, I think this is what her attorney really meant to say. "she quit to save herself the embarresement of being fired for her lies" Just a Theory. hehee. No seriously, I think she knew that is what is going to happen when this is all over so she might as well try to save face or what little of it she has left, Thats just my opinion.

Dawn, Please leave your issues with Narrator off this thread. It is nothing to us your twos arguement and I know I could care less. As I am sure others feel the same.

Well you have offended me. I am not getting caught up in anything. I asked you nicely to keep your arguements on your thread. And you cannot seem to comprehend this . Yes this is the internet but no it is not the wild west. I for one am not one of your followers that hang on every word you say. I think you need to GROW UP...no disrespect just the truth.. You are the reason that most men on here think that women are babbling idiots and I for one do not want to be put in that category. The issues with the Ken dolls are yours and narrators not mine. So get over yourself, you think you are being cute and insightful. Well , I frankly do not think so. There are ways to have fun and then there are way to look stupid. I am leaning towards the latter.

Believe me she's better off having the trial in Reno. Tougher D.A.s . But you're right that they love the limelight. When I lived in Reno the D.A. was Mills Lane, yes , the same Mills Lane that refereed many major boxing matches and then went on to have a T.V. show (Judge Mills Lane). I had come across many a personality like this lady, the sad thing is that she got in a situation, either by chance or on her own behalf that was stupid.
I don't think that Ben gets a free ride though, it shows that he doesn't seem to be a very good judge of character, or making the right decision. Getting past who is right or wrong, she does need help, and I know if she had been an employee of mine when I was at the Reno Hilton, the company would have stood by her. It's a tough town, and being at Lake Tahoe is a very tough place to make a living on her wages.

November 5, 2009  09:53 PM ET

Narrator,

This is a civil action. There are no District Attorney's involved at this time and no criminal charges pending against Ben. My understanding is that the District Attorney's office has reviewed the case and could not find sufficient evidence to justify charges at this time.

She is not the one asking for the trial to be moved Ben and the other people she is suing are. I understand what you are saying , but She has no proof, She bragged to everyone that would listen to her. I read in one of the statements that she still ahd the clothes she wass wearing that night. I mean even if there is something on her clothes that does not imply rape at all it just proves sex and Ben has admitted to that, . No I am not saying that Ben is innocent in this, no I do not think he raped her, just want to make that clear. I think he just used bad judgement, I think she thought more was going to come out of this than did. If he did make her promises then no that is not right but it does not make him a rapist. But no one has said that there were promises made. I really dont think anywhere this is tried it is going to go good for her. Her emails have proven that she lied. And like Jady stated earlier she was talking about Ben in a good sense just in Febuary. i guess she had been all along then she started crying rape. What I have read , this woman is not stable by anymeans. I think Ben will come out of this fine . I think they have more on her than she has on him. And I come to that conclusion after reading all of her attorneys filings and motions and her own words. She keeps comntridicting herself. That is why I believe she quit her job, IMO I think she is coming to realize that she is not getting a penny from Ben and the other defendants and she is now trying to make the Hotel look bad that they made it hard on her. She didnt intially add the Hotel to her suit and then her attorney filed a motion to add them after the first filing. ,, I think this is just a publicity to stunt to hopefully get the Hotel added. But I think when it was all said and done, she would have been fired anyways.

I meant to put that she has not proof that I have read, I really dont know what her attorney has. Thought I would add that

Well I don't believe he raped her either. What Ben needs to do is grow up (he hasn't shown to much common sense) and realize that with all his money maybe he would have been better off too get a escort.(Prostitution is legal in Nevada and its not at all uncommon to see women escorts). Its like athletes that get drunk and refuse to cough up a few bucks for a cab or limo and then get busted for a DUI. If your a celebrity you need to cover your back.

The pathology of a hustler NEVER allows them to "retire".....but, her job-searching days are (more-than-likely) OVER, in Vegas.

Please! He's payed to play 'ball....and, payed damned-well, for it.

If that makes him a "target", let the hustler beware....especially if it's THE HUSTLER that (obviously) needs to "grow up".

I suppose I should apologize for tainting YOUR thread. But I am busy coloring right now. trying to stay in the lines is difficult after drinking Crown all night! You won't see me on YOUR thread any more. I don't mess with other women. and yes you are right.... Men don't always have the highest regard for our sports knowledge. So with that in mind.... Have a great day! Steeler fans are great! Hope Ben learns his lesson from all this! Like I did!
