I for one do not think he is the dirtiest , toughest yes, dirtiest no. I love all things Hines.. Heinz Ketchup , Heinz Field, and Hines Ward. Get over it. And after reading the article I cannot believe that Troy was on the list. I loved his comment at the end.. "I do my own hair before the game" Troy is the best safety today, well if you say Troy is dirty for his style of play , Then where is Ed Reed , and Ravens fans before you get all bent out of shape I like Ed Reed, I love the way he plays , him and Troy are similar in alot of ways they are the most feared safeties in the NFL as they should be. But come one Hines the dirtiest, I think not. I love how SI loves to bag on the Steelers a couple weeks ago it was a poll on who is the mosdt overratted player in the NFL and of Course Big Ben was on that list, I think myself it is just pure jealousy , Ben and Hines are 2 of the best right now look at thier numbers , That is like saying , Ray Lewis is a cream puff.. (used as example, have no hard feelings towards Ray either.) I love how Hines is having a good seasona nd certain reporters keep hating. I think we ought to start a poll on the most attention grabbing reporters and see who winds up on that list. I bet you the idiot that started these polls would be right there close to the top and then see how he likes it.

What is it that makes him dirty? Maybe he should bath, do a Ivory commercial. I can see him singing in the shower Ebony and Ivory.

HA HA Theory, pent up aggression there, that cracked up. I read the article. I love how the Steeler Defense guys had nothing but good to say about him. And you gotta love Troy. I'm like you I think it is haters all it is. But you will have that. Did not know you were a fan of Reeds. Learn something new everyday. LOL

That is funny, I could see Hines doing that. Dont know if it would be as good as Troy's Head and Shoulders commercials but it would be funny.

I agree, this is ridiculous! He is one of the hardest working players in the game! Read his comments about it. Like any one of those defensive players would take it easy on him when he goes over the middle! And when he does get leveled, he doesn't cry about it and say that particular player is dirty because he took his shot at him, he gets up, smiles and goes back to the huddle! It's football for Christ's sake! It's not meant to be a soft sport. Too many cry babies!

Exactly Decube, he is always smiling and never complains. That is what I love about him.

I would have to agree. They got away with A LOT more back then. I was just watching the top 10 hardest hitters on NFL Network and they showed the likes of LT, Jack Lambert, and Ronnie Lott just to name a few. Damn those guys were vicious. "Jack Lambert was missing all those teeth because people were afraid to tell him."

And what's up with Polamalu being on the list? I would say he's the farthest thing from a dirty player. He should be the model for all NFL players.

Cheap hits? Check. Broke a guys jaw on the cheap hit? Check..Ward belongs, just not as #1 ont he list. Jared Allen is far and away the dirtiest player..anyone remember the Houston-Minny game?

Jack Lambert would pile drive someone, head first, looking like the proverbial ostrich. But, it was legal. I'm surprised his "victims" weren't paralyzed..........lol

That was not a cheap hit on Rivers. He was pursuing the play and had his head turned. Ever hear of the terminology 'head on a swivel'? Like Rivers would not have done the same thing to Ward if given the chance. Besides, how big is Ward, 250+...no, he's a wide receiver, under 200 lbs. People act like he goes after knees and such. Heck, he hits up high, lots of offensive linemen go down low and after the defensive linemens knees. At least Ward has the balls to take on someone one on one! 100% True. Ask any player, if their gona get hit, they would rather get hit up high then have thier knees taken out. And for his hit on rivers, what do ppl want him to do??? Stop blocking, be a diva receiver who stops on plays that dont go his way? I would not trade ward in his prime for anyone. He is the hardest working receiver in the game, and has always been my favorite player.

Saw "top 10 QBs" on NFL the other night, was watching with my 16 yr old son. Likes of Unitas, Tarkenton, Staubach, Kilmer, Bradshaw.....etc. Well he was puzzled by all the "blows to the head" and body slamming and what would be late hits by today's standards.

And the winner in the NCAA is the SEC conference.

Exactly things were alot more violent back then. I do not think the QBs today could not take hits like that. I was watching a show the top 10 defenses and They showed some the old defenses Steel curtain ect and Im gonna tell ya I was amazed, Jack Lambert was an animal. I think if the defenses were allowed to play like that in todays NFL there would be a lot more serious injuries.

I agree Uniform, he is the only receiver I would want, he is no diva that is for sure. and is it just me but is Santonio been laying down the blocks like Hines. I think he is teaching him well. I think, well no I know when he retires I think he will be a coach. But i know one thing with the latest contract extension he will retire a Steeler and that is fine by me.
