NFL  > Dallas Cowboys  > Roy Williams Puzzled by Lack of Chemistry with Romo
November 5, 2009, 01:50 PM
Roy, I'm going to tell you how it is.

First thing you need to do is have patience. The next thing is do is NOT be a T.O. and go crying to the media when you feel slighted. You should be very grateful you're no longer in Detroit. At least in Dallas you have a chance to make something of yourself, and maybe, just maybe make a few playoff games, and a chance for the Big Dance. What would your chance be in Detroit? Slim to none, with slim being out of town.

???I'm the No. 1 receiver,??? Williams said. ???But things are just going No. 2's way.???

Who said? Who anointed you this "title"? If you think you're better than Miles Austin, then prove it....don't wallow in self pity, or go running to the media. They damn sure can't do anything about it. But, you can. Quit with the whining and be a man. Prove it.

If I'm not mistaken, Detroit took you as a number 1 pick. Miles Austin was an UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT much like Romo......When one is hungry, they work extra hard and all you have to do is look at Austin and Romo. You need to get down off of this "#1 draft pick pedestal" and maybe act like you weren't drafted, and could very well lose your job. Maybe that will change your mindset?

Get with the program, Roy. If you do, and prove yourself, your time will come. But, the whining and crybabying will get you shuffled off to Buffalo.

True DAT! IF you really are #1 then you don't have to say it....others say it about you! Roy should go talk to a guy named Rice. He can explain it to him.

God forbid he talk to Owens.........lol......But, it makes me wonder if he hasn't already?

November 5, 2009  03:00 PM ET

amen.... i thought the same thing. who said you were the #1 receiver? just cause your paycheck is bigger doesn't grant you the top WR. you have to prove your worth... and it doesn't seem he has been able to do this up to this point. so, you can shut-up, take your huge salary and work harder to EARN that title, or start whining to the media and see if it gets you the same results it did for T.O. it amazes me he thinks the way to handle this is to follow in T.O.'s footsteps.... he isn't creating a "romo friendly" team now is he?

No, he's not. Starting to sound like the same old song, but 2nd verse.

I think one thing Williams said may hold some water...perhaps a thimble full. Romo isn't particularly accurate. Romo is good on comeback and out routes because the receiver is relatively stationary and you can throw to a spot. Williams, to his credit, runs many of Dallas' crossing patterns. Romo has difficulty throwing balls where Williams can catch them on these routes. That being said, Roy has enough drops that he should be hightailing it when there's a microphone thrust in his direction.

November 5, 2009  03:29 PM ET

I think it was assumed by the media and Roy that with T.O. gone he was the #1, but he forgot that it takes more than being anointed by the media and himself to be the #1. Somehow he forgot it takes dedication and hard work, something that seems to escape allot of first round draftees.

November 5, 2009  03:39 PM ET

Biggest point is that Miles Austin perfroms with his play not his mouth. After all that's what's its all about right? Performance that is.

It is damn old to hear WRs flap their jaws all the time! Just shut up and play the game. Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Dwayne Wade all perform without the drama, and yes, even Miles Austin..

Both Romo and Williams are going to have to continue working on their chemistry. It may take some time doing, as Austin is just now coming into his own after 4 years, or however long he's been here.

But, Williams is going to have to be patient and quit with the whining.

Hey GSH!.....

You are correct, my friend. If he had been a lower round draft pick.....one capable of being cut....... I don't think you'd see (or hear) the whining as much.

Exactly. Well, he does have that *s.h-i.t* eating smile....Smiles Austin..good nickname......lol

The good ones don't have to talk....they show it.

Dwayne Wade is the BB player dammit! I meant Reggie Wayne

Birds of a feather. How much of an investment does Dallas have in Wiliams?

Yes you're right Bull, most of the time those lower round draft picks with everything to gain and nothing too loose outperform those who are given everything in advance.

Too much, but Jones can afford it......lol........I won't quote figures, because I don't keep up with that stuff.

The Cowboys had several like that, but you can only keep so many.

Mickens got picked up by Tampa Bay today. He was on our practice squad.

You guys should check into that guy we had from Irvin's reality show. He's on the practice squad. I was impressed by him, but he got caught in a numbers crunch.

I think that is the reason Bill Belichek trades away a lot of his first round picks for 2nd, 3rd rounders. More bang for the Buck. Nobody locked into big long term contracts.

Right now the Bears are in need of O-Lineman, or that's just my opinion. Jesse Holley would probably make some team a good W.R. I seen a couple episodes of that show and he has the potential, but right now I personally don't see the Bears making any moves in the W.R. department. In fact D.A. had a good camp and pre-season but has yet to dress for a game, the Bears dress four W.R.'s for game day and they are Hester, Bennett, Knox and Davis, and I don't see a change unless one of them were to for some reason be unable to play.

They are a good example of a team building from the 2nd round of the draft back, and another reason why I for one wasn't upset for the trade for Cutler plus add in the bust to boom potential of the first rounders and the exuberant amount of up front money first rounders get. Trading back in draft isn't as glorious to most fans not getting a big name draft player but when you start looking around at how many first rounders there are riding the benches.
