I grudgingly respect their program, but I could never, under ANY circumstances, root for Notre Dame. Its that whole sense of enTITLEment they have, as though simply BEING Notre Dame should earn them adulation and favorable rankings.
Tennessee and auburn. When they play, I always say, "Who do you pull for? It's like if the Chicomms went to war with the old USSR. Who can you pull for?"
Heh heh!!!

I am the same way, except if a ND win would get UF in a bowl game. I also consider myself a Hokie fan.
So my favorite teams are:
1. UF
2. Va Tech
3. ND's opponent
4. Any SEC team playing out of OOC
im a usc fan, i cant stand watchin notre dame or really any other team play! exception the VOLS, an Wolverines! I hate watchin sec game but ill watch a vols or wolverines game if my trojans arent on tv!
I can rarely bring myself to give a 5hit who wins any games in which my team isn't playing. Favorite teams, in order:
1 - Texas
2 - 117 (tie) all but 2 other teams
118 - Texas A&M
119 - This week's opponent
The ranking order in comment #5 is modified somewhat when A&M is this week's opponent, or when it's Texas' bye week:
1 - Texas
2 - 118 (tie) - all other teams except A&M
119 - Texas A&M
1. Florida
2. LSU
3. USC
4. Ohio State
5. Texas
Those are some of the teams that I cannot stand to root for!!
My Favorites: Cincinnati and The U.
Teams I can't cheer for (unless it helps one of the above teams): Ohio State, ND, and Florida (as long as Urban Meyer is there). In that order.
My favorite team: Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
I absolutely hate University of Michigan. Hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em.
I am a big MWC fan but I will never sit down and watch/root for BYU against anyone but ND or Miami. I was happy for the conference when BYU beat OU, but certainly did not want to catch any of the post-game gloating by Cougars. BYU is pure evil and I certainly hope SDSU, CSU, or AFA can step it up a notch and supplant BYU and as a top MWC team by 2011.
With things the way they are with the BCS, strength of schedule and conference strength being key to public perception. I always root for BIG TEN teams when they play out of conference teams.
Although I must admit that I was pulling for Appalachian State against tsun. What do you expect I'm a tOSU fan.

Same here.
I can't pinpoint the exact reasons why, but I will not root for any team from California and Florida.
Hands down, the freakin domers. EVER. I told my son, when college comes I will help him in anyway I can. Unless he picks notre dame. He pulls that crap, he is absolutely on his own.

Now, THAT is good parenting.
Hey, kids gotta know where the lines are Trix ;o)]
Penn State and Bowling Green (I'm from Northwest Ohio) are my next favorite teams, and unless they are playing against Ohio State, I always cheer for them. With the exception of one particular team, I will almost always cheer for the Big Ten when they play out of conference. I became an LSU fan after their outright title was hijacked by USC and a West Viriginia fan after the debacle with DickRod (and I just really love Bill Stewart), so I pull for them unless it's detrimental to Ohio State to do so. Also, I tend to align with coaches that I respect, so (again, unless it's detrimental to Ohio State), I will pull for Mack Brown's Longhorns and Frank Beamer's Hokies.
Generally speaking, I have a thing against any shades of yellow and blue together. With the exception of West Virginia, I cannot bring myself to cheer for Toledo, TSUN, or Notre Dame unless one is playing the other.
I did break my TSUN rule in the Capital One Bowl two years ago. Yes, I hate Urban Liar and his team just that much. I also cannot bring myself to pull for any team affiliated with Nick Satan, DickRod, or Booby Petrino. Or the press' golden children (USC).

Would have to say TN. Thought I might start feeling a little different once the "Bama obsessor" (aka Fulmer) was gone but then came the Mouth off the West Coast...

My stomach still gets notted when recalling rooting for tSUN that game.
I finally took to listening with just passing glances at the screen.

I know-- I was nauseated the whole time... I never actually cheered out loud (unlike my sister), but I REALLY wanted Florida to lose...

Ms. T-Rixi,
Great ?
I've often wondered about this:
Some fans hate their rivals so much they want them to lose every game. Auburn/Bama comes to mind. UW/WSU is another.
But wouldn't it be better for, say, Bama if they beat 11-0 Auburn rather than 0-11 Auburn?
