NFL  > Minnesota Vikings  > Vikings the luckiest team in the NFL
October 13, 2008, 07:24 PM
Is it just me or does it always seem that the Vikings always are winning game s in the end with some huge penalty that sets them up for the win? I am a Vikings fan but it is frustrating that it seems that they when on luck alone cause lets face Childress still sucks as a head coach.

Wrong, I don???t know why you Vikings fans hate Childress so much. There 1 QB away from being a contender, the Vikings would not be who that are without him. He did make a bad decision with Jackson but look what he's done on defense and A. Peterson. He's won 3 out of the last 4 games, give him a break.

And what other penalty set them up for a win?

Hold up there the offensive line can't even block blindfold opponent Defensive front four. Not to mention that Saint shot them self in the foot with 3 turn over. AP is great but he forgot to cover up the ball when you are about to get hit. He has more fumble this year then he did last year at the same time. The only positive this year is Bernard Berrian and Kevin Williams. Oh and the Detroit Lions doesn't have a good QB this year. Mister 14 millions a year only have 2 sacks so far.

I know it sounds crazy, but why not go after a player like M.Vick. Heck we gave Moss a chance when nobody else would give him a chance and look at what we did in 98. Yeah, we didn't make the SB. but we made a statement.

November 10, 2008  01:00 PM ET

Why not go for Vick? Probably has a lot to do with him being suspended indefinitely from the NFL.

That really hurts his chances of playing, ya know?

November 10, 2008  02:45 PM ET

haha vick? please god no. he is not a leader and not even really a good football player. should have gotten garcia when we had the chance. hopefully a solid vet will come out of free agency or a good backup will come out of the woodwork. otherwise, yay perpetual mediocrity.

November 12, 2008  10:25 PM ET

That sounds fine, but depending on the age of the vet or backup coming out of the woodworks. Why pick up a backup if their only gonna last a year? At least Vick has some kind of experience and is mobile to run with the ball if he has to.

November 16, 2008  01:04 AM ET

Vick+ Childress being fired would lead us to a Superbowl. All vick has to do is hand the ball off to AD and make an occasional long ball or run it for 20 yards.

Vick? Have some respect for the team....What message are you sending when you have people like him on the team? The Vikings can do better!

November 23, 2008  02:10 PM ET

What? like getting an all washed up has been vet who isnt gonna last only a year before he passes away.

November 24, 2008  09:23 PM ET

1 QB from being a contender. Yeah, you set a great standard for head coaches (and more importantly, mediocrity). You need a QB that can smell blood & have that killer instinct. Gus & Tarvaris don't have it! Many people knew this is the problem! Brad and many fans still don't want to admit it.

You will see... mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Brad's lifetime coaching wining % is 56%!!!

I smell a QB available for next year that now knows overtime rules.
My typical saying: Wait till next year!

November 28, 2008  09:57 PM ET

I agree with you guruvious.

November 30, 2008  10:45 AM ET

Didn't I hear something about Matt Cassel being a free agent at the end of this season?? He might make a good addition...

December 2, 2008  05:40 PM ET

Matt Cassel is just like Tom Brady, a product of a system.

December 3, 2008  10:50 PM ET

It's all about big plays... You take the good with the bad. If you want to factor in luck, you could argue we'd be 9-3 or so if our special teams had not given up touchdowns.

I know most will not like the following comment however, the falcons are creeping under everyone's radar.I have them @ 5 on my rankings list. plz don'y hate.

December 3, 2008  11:23 PM ET

I have the Falcon's @ 5 on my rankings list. With another big win on the road and a huge win against carolina, thay are seaking under the radar as well as tampa bay. keep an eye on the nfc south.

who is mister 14 million. i know your not talking about j-Allen who in fact has 13 sacks on the season a safety and 4 FF. our O-line is good but it doesn't help when your QB cant dodge a 2 pound ball let alone a 300+ linemen i am pretty sure they gave up 1 sack all of the 2nd half with a QB that can move in the pocket

The way our luck has been the last few years, I'll take a win any way I can get it. Remember the loss to the Bears or the Colts earlier this year. Luck went the other way. I'm not a big Childress fan either, but I'm really starting to like the Vikings defense that is finally getting healthy (but may still lose the Williams' wall), and how about Tavaris Jackson. Maybe sitting his butt on the bench taught him a few things. But like Childress or not, our Vikes are close to making the playoffs. HOWEVER, I'm not getting my hopes up -- YET !!!!

Metbob

I agree with metbob. at least were 9-5 which we havent seen in years and are actually one game away from taking the division. t jack should have been benched after the first two games but has played well in the last two to help put us in this position. the team as a hole looks like it's finally figuring out how to finish a game without choking like they did against GB,CHI and indy earlier in the year. Hey call me crazy but i think they might be peaking at the right time and possibly do well if they do make the playoffs. So let's quit crying like a bunch loser packer fan's and think positive because this is the best chance weve had in years.
