Okay, so Nikolai Khabibulin got injured, but they didn't have time to call some one up, so the Oilers sign 20 year old Torrie Jung. Jung is the starting goalie for the Edmonton Oil Kings, of the WHL. Basically, this is his last year of junior hockey, and he is nothing great, and wont be moving on to the NHL, and probably not even the AHL, as he has a career SV% below .900 in the WHL. He was not associated with any team, so the Oilers signed him because they could not get anyone else to be their backup in time. With him signing a try-out contract, he gets $65,000 just to sit on the bench for one game, and they gave him all new equipment. How lucky is this guy?

He may actually though have to go in and play, because the starter for Edmonton, Jeff Deslauriers has let in 3 goals on 6 shots.

This reminds me of the Capital backup once. Theodore got injured and they didn't have a backup, so they asked anyone if they can dress and be backup for just the 1st period (because Varlomav was on his way to the game), and they ended up signing their website creator guy, and signed him to a $65,000 try-out contract, and he too got all new equipment, and all he did was sit on the bench for one period. This guy didn't even play junior hockey, he just played house-league or something when he was a kid.
