I'm a cynic. I think Boise and TCU were paired so that BCS conferences would NOT have to face two mid-majors.

That's right. The BCS conference are scared. Pair these two teams, and there are no questions about the legitimacy of a playoff if both non-BCS schools won.

That being said, this is an outstanding matchup.
